Twenty-two kilometres and a very big climb. I started out of Soldon before dawn. And I took the lower road route into Quiroga.
I was having some problems with my shoes and I wanted to test them on an even surface to begin with. They are now held together with Duct tape! I also wanted to catch breakfast in Quiroga and I found a wonderful breakfast, which set me up for the rest of the day. A large part of the day was then climbing up to an altitude of about 700 metres with stunning views in all directions, and then a very sharp descent down through a couple of almost deserted villages to A Labrada where I’m staying in the Pension Pacita. The pension has very good online reviews, which are well deserved. A very nice place, great food and a great welcome.
I loved the walk today. Totally alone in the Hills. At first, looking up to points of interest, and later looking down on them from above. Magical.

I enjoyed these hills. They were quiet and fairly gentle. I was listening to a podcast on the history of the Grail stories, which really fit the mood.

Do you wear ear plugs for sleeping? I couldn’t do a Camino without them.

Yes, I used wax earplus. But not sure they really helped much. To be honest, not much keeps me awake, as I'm too tired! The Frogs outside
the door were far worse than snorng Pilgrims !

Hi, just a little info. How do you sleep with earplugs. Do you not mind the pressure that they cause in your head?

I don't use the foam ones that go partly insider the ear. I use wax ear plus that kind of lay flat across the hole of the ear. You don't really notice them. They don't keep out all sound obviously, but help a bit. I'm a light sleeper, and always slept enough / OK. The plugs I use are like these: ruclips.net/video/ZnIn6mT5mRY/видео.htmlfeature=shared

I use yellow coloured foam ear plugs that you roll up and insert into the ear canal. It’s a tight fit but you get used to it very quickly. They block out pretty much all of the sounds that would keep me awake, particularly loud snoring. I’m a light sleeper so they are a must for me in albergues.
