Thank you very much for your video. I have a question on how to pronounce the word "owl". Its IPA is /aʊl/ . I'm not sure if the /ʊ/ should be heard when you pronounce this word. Another word is "vowel" I also have difficulties with /aʊ/ + /n/, such as "town", "down", "pound" Thanks, Jeffrey
+Jeffrey Tian Hey Jeffery. Both in 'owl' and 'vowel' you have the /aʊ/ as in 'now' vowel sound. In this vowel, you definitely hear the /ʊ/ sound, although it is slightly shorter than the /a/, since the /aʊ/ is a diphthong (a vowel that shift from one sound to another) and in diphthongs, the second sound is always shorter. Because of the dark /L/ at the end of the word, I understand your confusion. You want to begin the word with /aʊ/ and then add the L. Same thing for 'vowel'. As if you're saying 'vow' + 'L'. Also, to help with the difficulty in pronouncing it before an N, pronounce slowly the /aʊ/ sound in the word before the N, until you get used to pronouncing the full diphthong..And then you can say it normally.
+Teacup and Roses Hi. The vowels are pretty much the same (in some dialects both are pronounced as the relaxed I ) but the main difference is in the T. In British English there's no 'flapped T'. So it sounds closer to a regular, but a very light T.
+Éva Kéménczy Hi, sorry I just saw this... These two words are pronounced absolutely the same. Both with the high ee sound as in 'see'. (Check out my sheep-ship video)
Why is pretty, with the relaxed /I/ sound, not pronounced like Betty, Getty, or jetty, with the /EH/ sound? Shouldn't pretty be pronounced like /prEH tEE?
why do we pronounce it like that? shouldn't it be "ett," and not "itt?" so weird. it's not at all pronounced how it's spelled. english is obnoxiously obnoxious. arg. :-(

Can I pronounce E in pretty with schwa sound? I mean will that sound okay?
Hmmm... not really. Since it’s the primary stress. I have a feeling it wouldn’t sound good
thank you so much!
Hello :) Thanks for your videos...
In British English, it is pronounced the same way? Or is it just an American pronunciation?

Thank you.
so "e" in this word is a short vowel, isn't it? I check the IPA guide and "e" is pronounced as /i/, so confused! Please explain. Thank you
Yes! The ‘e’ sometimes represents the /I/ as in ‘sit’ short and relaxed vowel
@@hadar.shemesh thank you!
Can u make a video “how to pronounce SCREEN” plz 🥺🥺?
Greetings from Morocco🇲🇦 after 6 years😂

Why is pretty, with the relaxed /I/ sound, not pronounced like Betty, Getty, or jetty, with the /EH/ sound? Shouldn't pretty be pronounced like /prEH tEE?
Your pretty.
pretty
👍
Is it like freddy but with a p sound?
No, because the vowel is /I/ as in 'sit' and not eh as in 'red' as in Freddy
ma'am, the way you spoke the word "pretty" correctly. is differently with each way you speak you are truly confusing.
sometimes you spoke like pri and spoke it like pre as in like pre like eh you are really confusing yet you tell the word that priii is wrong
is it just it is short? and not a long e? plss im so confused
It's r silent ..not d
first you say that the sound is i and then you say predi.....
So, pridI.
"you like".
Plz pronounce my name Priyanka Verma
I thought that the t is pronounced r not d.
Omg 😳😳😳

EL INGLES SE PRONUNCIA DIFERENTE A COMO SE ESCRIBE JAJAJA PASOOOO.... PREFIERO EL JAPONES....
why do we pronounce it like that? shouldn't it be "ett," and not "itt?" so weird. it's not at all pronounced how it's spelled. english is obnoxiously obnoxious. arg. :-(
English is not a phonetic language Whis is why it’s so confusing
