    I think the sea monster could be the Norse sea serpent Jörmungandr. The "she" referred to by Kinder Garten could be his sister, Hel, Goddess of the Underworld. If this is correct, I'd guess Apollo will die towards the end of the series. Apollo is akin to the god Baldur in Norse mythology. That would make a lot of sense as to how Apollo was able to survive and quickly recover from a hammer smash to the skull. Speaking of hammer......I could even see Emma being some sort of female version of Thor. Early one we meet the one eyed witch who gives her magic that leads her on this journey (towards Ragnorok???) who could represent Odin. Thor ultimately kills Jörmungandr. As much as I want the carousel to lead to fae...I am now wondering if it instead leads to Asgard. When Balduer finds that his mother, Freya, made him immortal to prevent the unnecessary death that was predicted for his future, he is not happy....could lend to a future episode. This spell he felt a curse....and he still ended up fulfilling the prophecy.
    One more interesting thought of Emma as Thor....In Norse mythology, he is a hammer-wielding god associated with lightning (particularly blue lighting) , thunder, storms, sacred groves and trees, strength, the protection of humankind, hallowing, and fertility. Thoughts???

      I love this theory, partly cause I really enjoy Norse mythology, but also because it's well thought out. Me and Rob both listened again to KG call it a "her" and it's confirmed by Cal right after. Which is interesting 🤔 because of his dislike & distrust of females.
      Nice 👍🏻 thanks for putting that out there & supporting the channel 🙌🏻

      Having fun with these thoughts! Also could Kinder be a form of Loki? He gives those vibes and seems to shape-shift some. If so, it would also make a bit more sense why KG calls him "brother". Though they are not brothers by blood, Loki is said to be adopted by Odin, which would make them brothers. (Although in true mythos it seems to be more accurate that Loki was actually Odin's brother...it's a bit confusing.) Also, Jörmungandr, Hel, & Fernir.... are children of Loki of whom Odin takes and throws into the ocean-world of Midgard. Perhaps the children-stealing in the show could be some form of revenge by Loki?@@thescreensleuths

      I can tell you are 😆 Good on you, the fun of these shows is the hunt.
      A lot of these track, I'm curious about the ratio of mythology:fairy tale.
      There are a lot of Ragnarok theories in the show From 👍🏻

      I love From! I think that's how I found your page, actually, hah! Funny though cause I think From is either a fae realm or a Dharma Initiative spin-off....@@thescreensleuths

    I’ve read the book and I won’t spoil it, but it’s none of the creatures you named.
    Also, those of us who have read the book, the season finale follows the book pretty closely and we’re not disappointed. Also the book is more realism fantasy and less complete fantasy.
    Overall I find the show is a beautiful visual for the book and is answer for questions not answered in the book.

      Exactly, I'm on chapter 91 and oh man like you said the show follows real close to the book, almost word for word the first 5 chapters

      The book is the same mediocrity……a lack of understandable continuity and satisfying ending🤷‍♀️

      There are very few spoilers left in the book. Not a whole season full. I think reading the book before the next season will make it a lot more interesting

      That's a fair point of view 👍🏻 maybe people will take that advice 😁

    There is no guarantee there will be a season 2 because the show has yet to be renewed and even if there is a season 2 it will be at least 18 months from when episode 8 aired because of SAG being on strike. So this could possibly be it for the show.

    • @thescreensleuths
      @thescreensleuths  9 месяцев назад

      That's true about any show, we are merely saying the intention of the showrunner was not to end it with episode 8. If a second season doesn't come to fruition for other reasons, that doesn't negate their original intentions when they adapted it to TV.

    Thanks for this great deep dive into the show and especially the last episode. All other reviews are rants and raves about how angry they are about the short last episode and the slow pace. To me, this show is like reading a good mystery novel. You just don't get the answers until the last few pages.
    One disagreement - I think the last quick 3 scenes are all flash forwards. I suggest that the monster dragged KG away was to heal him. KG changes back to WWW in order to travel back to his home.

      Appreciate that! I mean look it is what it is and complaining the whole time won't change it right... so we are going to enjoy it for what it is 😄
      That is a VERY fair assessment & did cross my mind. He could be healed and that is how they keep their 10k headcount, like the immortals 😉
      We really appreciate your support! 👏🏻

    If that was a flashback to KG/WW, wouldn't he have the William look? We know the guy with little hair is the one who saw the image of Emma. Or do you think its not a chronological thing but just that he can swap back and forth between KG & WW easily? I really thought that computer scene was a flash forward and that the monster pulled the supposed dead body, it brought it back to life. Hence why he was all spiffy again. Thanks for the videos, you've helped dig at the mysteries of this story and all the little bits I never would have picked up on!

    • @thescreensleuths
      @thescreensleuths  9 месяцев назад +1

      We aren't sure TBH, but we think for the reasons we mentioned it's a flashback. With that said, it could be a healed William or they all look like him 😉👍🏻
      Thanks for tuning in 👏🏻👏🏻

    Careful about saying the magic workable by real human witches is not very powerful. Just because it’s not about magic wands and spells doesn’t mean you want to offend them. The application of will to extend and distort the limits of physical strength and perception could be formidable

      @@thescreensleuths I think this is what LaValle would say

    • @thescreensleuths
      @thescreensleuths  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. I will say there have been feats of strength that are more than human. Rock climbing, the hammer 🔨 to the face, William taking a beating a few times. Not drowning, etc
      So like I said in the show, I don't think we are going to get Harry Potter, but a more grounded version of magic ✨

    • @joyfulgirl91
      @joyfulgirl91 9 месяцев назад +1

      The point about Harry Potter is spot on because I think without that reference, the lore around witches does not suggest what people seem to expect from them. While Cal didn’t do anything NO human could do, it was pretty wild for her to be able to climb that cliff at all and then beat a man unconscious with her fists and a broken stick

    The hard truth is this series just is not that good! As far as horror stories go, the book is mediocre too…..Nothing thrilling or all that intriguing regarding the scattered myths, bible thumping, “grabbing for straws” metaphysic new age themes and myths, literally anything to distract the reader and audience from the fact the author avoids continuity on purpose to keep us in some big state of wonderment and mystery….too bad it’s so far fetched and silly and one is left scratching their head….🤷‍♀️❓😳🙃 and not in a good way….
    The narrators of this vlog are taking their interpretation a bit over the top…..this series is not that deep, but rather a scattered mess……..doubtful if a season 2…….very disappointed!
