Dude you couldn’t be any more right about what you said about the value of your premium stuff. I finally subscribed a month or two ago, partially because I really wanted to know how some of your jobs ended (which your editing really helps keep you engaged, good job Caleb ) and the other side was from how much I learned just from your normal RUclips stuff. I’m not even in the same field, I’m in heavy diesels with 15L engines but the electrical stuff you teach is 100% the same across the board. On the days I get 20 min or so for lunch I’m sitting in my truck trying to absorb all this stuff you’re teaching. It’s also helped me teach my other shop guys to be better at troubleshooting electrical (at least the ones willing or wanting to learn) Cummins should probably sit down and take some of your courses because they are huge on ohm testing circuits on the emissions systems and most of the checks they have you do is such a waste of time because they aren’t loaded when you’re doing them, I learned that from your info and it’s saved us a ton of time on the stuff we have out of warranty that we are doing ourselves. Even the stuff that is warranty we’ve been able to save our dealer some time every now and then giving the tech’s more info when we drop something off. I know this was pretty long but I wanted to say thanks for making the cost of this great knowledge so reasonable, it makes it easier to suggest to friends and colleagues that they should check it out because it really made me better at solving these puzzles.

That's the BEST quote you said at the end of the video. "The technician should be paid again. The garage should be paid again. WE DON'T WORK FOR FREE! And this is not ripping off the customer. It's getting paid for your knowledge. I make no apologies." I'll use this on my clients that don't want to pay me on comebacks that have separate problems. I always learn something new on each video. Thanks Danner.

It surprises me that when a customer does their own maintenance after having their car in a shop and things go wroung after they've done something their car, that they'll take it back to the mechanic and complain that they didn't fix it correctly only for the mechanic to do some fault finding that they find the problem was caused by whatever the owner had done to it in the 1st place.
It is a good thing that you have an honest customer who informed you of what they have done so that will cut down a majority of the diag time and you knew where to start looking.

@23:35, I keep a 6" length of clear plastic water hose on hand to check the proper function of the plugs. Slip a quick connect into one end and the plug at the other end and connect it to shop air. If it fires at 100 PSI of dry air, it'll fire the fuel/air charge under compression. If there's a crack somewhere not visible, It won't fire at the electrodes.

@@throttlebottle5906 I can use higher pressure, but 100 PSI is more than enough to detect a faulty plug. IIRC, a good coil barely sparks across 1/8" at 120 PSI. One thing I'm always harping on, is that just because new parts were installed, doesn't mean it was repaired. It doesn't mean the parts were bad or good. More often than not, a lot of vehicles I've repaired, had the same or more issues due to improper repair. Champion coppers in a vortec V8, etc.

Absolutely the garage and the tech should be paid again. The tech isnt responsible for it, the garage isnt responsible for it. If the shop tracks comebacks, it shouldnt be counted against the tech either.
I was just having a discussion with a coworker today about diagnostics and charging properly for them. Hes younger and not as experienced as i am(not saying I know everything or putting myself "above" anyone), but, for me and my diagnostic skills/knowledge/experience, when doing diagnostics, if the shop is charging properly, i should be as profitable or more profitable, than hanging brakes, doing flushes, etc. I know thats a run on sentence and hopefully my points articulated with it lol
Great job as always, Paul! Caleb, great editing skills, as always. I appreciate you guys and what youre doing. I pray our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, continues to bless the Danner family. Great Video , I think a lot of younger techs sorta shoot over that it usually always come back to Basic's . An never turn down the opportunity to learn something , seek out the knowledge it's there , Even The Heavenly Father wants you to not just know the words but apply them . These Newer Cars are so high tech , an they allow you to have all kinds of info basically at your fingertips especially with the right diagnostic tools , but the most important diagnosis tool is You The Tech , you have use all your senses in effect be in tune with what your doing as you were doing in the video when going thru the various test your thought process of evaluating the test data , While true the more experience you have the better you get at it , You still need to understand the basics of why your test results are coming back as such . I myself got into Drive-ability decades ago when electronics first started to come out , the older mechanics scoffed at it an most just flat refused to work on them , The Wife nearly killed me when I bought my first OTC Monitor 2000 due to its cost . It took about a year to see a huge jump in my wages & of course word of mouth got around in our area I was swamped with work to the point I had to start turning jobs down . God Bless Guys .

As soon as you pulled up the first coil I could tell there was no connection to the plug. The factory installed dielectric grease was undisturbed. Still perfect lines of grease in the end of the coil boot.

I'm the same way I love troubleshooting things I am a whirlpool appliance technician that goes out and repairs appliances under the manufacturer warranty and I love the troubleshooting The Rush that you get when you figure out the issue. When I get done work I go home and work on my 95 mustang that I turbocharged and put on a lot of parts. I just recently installed a Holley ECU and for the past year I've been learning about tuning the car and it is a amazing on how a computer operates

This was GREAT MOMENT to show why is good to check the REAR o2 sensors pids to pinpoint a spark problem. This PIDs often is forgoten . In this case the readings would be very rich, because the catalyst is not able to oxidize the Extra unburned HC, becouse there was no combustion. The rear o2 will be around 0.1v. The front o2 reads nearly stoichometric because the nessesery fuel for the amount of air entering the engine was injected properly. But some of it condensate on the hot cylinder and exhaust and thats why the slightly lean and the positive trim(and the foul plugs on good cylinders) . This is helpful of tackling spark problems. 👍 🥃

Your diagnosis and testing was dead on correct and you actually zeroed in on the problem quickly . That being said , I think it is poor design because, in my opinion, the coil should be able to be plugged onto the plug with way more ease than the problem you found / diagnosed in this video. I greatly enjoy watching you in action - MANY THANKS for you taking your audience along and your EXCELLENT teaching 🙂👍✌️✌️✌️

I bought the autel ms906ts for $1,700.00 and I could have bought the ms906bt for $1,000.00 but I bought the other one cause it is 2 in one ,dose scanning and programming of tpms sensors , pcm moduals and skim moduals as far as I figured out so far. This scanner looks cool and up to par but I still love the functionality of the autel. Autel also has multiple options of scanners depending on what your doing with it and I suggest calling in and finding out what one fits you best for what your doing!

Thank you Rick. I often wrestle with my approach to creating case studies. I could make them more "watchable" if I'd figure out the problem first, then film in hindsight. They'd be at least 50-75% shorter videos, and be directly to the point. I could also make myself look like a hero every single time!!
Nothing wrong with this approach, and in certain situations, may be better, but then I go back to what we'd all miss if I did that. And it is the process! What most do not realize, those who want a quick answer anyway, is that the process is most important. And I'm more than willing to show my failures and success in my process for others to learn from. Thanks for putting some wind back in my sails.
