Dude you couldn’t be any more right about what you said about the value of your premium stuff. I finally subscribed a month or two ago, partially because I really wanted to know how some of your jobs ended (which your editing really helps keep you engaged, good job Caleb ) and the other side was from how much I learned just from your normal RUclips stuff. I’m not even in the same field, I’m in heavy diesels with 15L engines but the electrical stuff you teach is 100% the same across the board. On the days I get 20 min or so for lunch I’m sitting in my truck trying to absorb all this stuff you’re teaching. It’s also helped me teach my other shop guys to be better at troubleshooting electrical (at least the ones willing or wanting to learn) Cummins should probably sit down and take some of your courses because they are huge on ohm testing circuits on the emissions systems and most of the checks they have you do is such a waste of time because they aren’t loaded when you’re doing them, I learned that from your info and it’s saved us a ton of time on the stuff we have out of warranty that we are doing ourselves. Even the stuff that is warranty we’ve been able to save our dealer some time every now and then giving the tech’s more info when we drop something off. I know this was pretty long but I wanted to say thanks for making the cost of this great knowledge so reasonable, it makes it easier to suggest to friends and colleagues that they should check it out because it really made me better at solving these puzzles.
Pinning this comment for sure! Thank you so much for confirming that my classes can help you no matter what industry you're in! Really appreciate you taking the time to share this with me.
That's the BEST quote you said at the end of the video. "The technician should be paid again. The garage should be paid again. WE DON'T WORK FOR FREE! And this is not ripping off the customer. It's getting paid for your knowledge. I make no apologies." I'll use this on my clients that don't want to pay me on comebacks that have separate problems. I always learn something new on each video. Thanks Danner.
The question will be , are you going to be an honest technician, the answer it’s obvious “ no “ . Mechanics are at the same level as politicians, lawyers , they are liars .
We as well are blessed for what you, Caleb and thy bearded brother bring to us. It's not just the superb training but the friendly fellowship, Paul. I'm thankful for all of you and your efforts to help us all grow (and not just as diagnosticians, either).
Lmao the way the music cut out during your inspirational speech there towards the end, classic. Thanks for speaking out and being unapologetic about the tech and shop getting paid, we're almost at the point of getting paid in trident layers in this field. Thanks for your content man
Thank you Paul, I’ve made it a mission to learn from a living legend. Your diagnostics are on a level that is beyond of a professional. Thank you for letting us be a part of your family.
It will be nice to have at least two videos in a week, like old good days (pure content). Don't need to worry about fancy editing stuff and effects. I personally never cared about it. We watch your channel mostly because of you guys professionals, teaching us. If you agree thumbs up! Cheers and thanks! Like before even watching, as usual!
Love it! The music during the “inspirational” speech was hillarious! On a more serious note, I couldn’t agree more that it is so absolutely rewarding to chase down the failure. What throws the biggest wrench in the gears, is not having a proper knowledge of electrical theory and of particular system to accurately and efficiently diagnose it. But that’s why we appreciate you!!Thank you!
Anything I can do for you my friend? How about some free SD Premium access? Copy your message and mine and send it to support@scannerdanner.com and I'll set it up for you, if you're interested.
SD - watching this particular video for the first time today. You’re an awesome dad, role model, teacher and what seems like overall human being. It’s dudes like you that restore my faith in an industry that has had some less than upstanding “professionals” in it. Keep up the great work. Your videos have been key in giving me the confidence to tackle issues normally beyond my skill level. I wish you were on the west coast to help with my current problem child 2015 Sierra!
Every diagnosis I do is a Rollercoaster. I liked this one. Seeing you having a bit of trouble helps my ego a bit. Of course your version of a Rollercoaster is like a kids ride, mine tend to be more of the latest and greatest. Way crazier. Ty
Thanks so much! My son Caleb is my editor and you can really see the difference over the last few years from a production stand point. Really appreciate this feedback
Unbelievable... something so minute as not installing the boots over the coil properly caused such a huge issue. Absolutely insane. Excellent troubleshooting. Thank you!!!
have seen this myself ,a few times, never gave it a thought,if on wrong,i just re fix it lol ,have seen leads on in wrong order too,off the cap, pull off, refit ,firing order, and fuses, wrong colours in the wrong holes, takes awhile to notice them, dont take much to upset a running verhicle
Paul this video is special , the reason why I said so is because you gave us a mixture of not just diagnosing the car but you could also do well under the cloth 😜 , so that additional word of praise and worship made it a big deal and as usual let's keep the fire 🔥🔥🔥 burning. (I hope you understand what that means ).
Thanks so much for your videos have learnt so much over the years, and as you were saying it follows as long as the diagnostic is correct, the rest will follow and one of the biggest take away i have is until you pin point the exact problem the diagnostic isn't over. I went from a no body to someone who is regarded as one of the better diagnosticians in this country, i.e. being the one who other workshops call when they cant figure out the problem, so i have to say THANK YOU SO MUCH, especially for your knowledge and willingness to teach.
Thank you Kenneth! So glad to hear how well you are doing. I'm pinning this comment and adding a link to my classes for others who read this. Thank you and God bless you. www.scannerdanner.com/join-scannerdanner-premium.html
Awesome video ! Was able to notice that those little green stripes of dielectric grease on the coil boots were still there when you first pulled the coils. Those usually go away when they contact the porcelain on the plug. Thanks for sharing Danner
A simple thank you can't express my true gratitude, but I thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us the way you do. Also, I thank your son for the laugh of day with his creative skills. Lesson with a laugh is true gold.
Thanks Paul for what you do! Bought your E-book recently. So I can get better at diagnosing and waste less time at unnecessary parts changing at work. Your videos teach me more than I was able to learn at my education facility! I`m really thankful!!!
I've seen many videos where it's a set up environment and laid out with preplanned readings and interpretations. I prefer real time. This transparency is my idea of reality. I respect the teacher for reality.
It surprises me that when a customer does their own maintenance after having their car in a shop and things go wroung after they've done something their car, that they'll take it back to the mechanic and complain that they didn't fix it correctly only for the mechanic to do some fault finding that they find the problem was caused by whatever the owner had done to it in the 1st place. It is a good thing that you have an honest customer who informed you of what they have done so that will cut down a majority of the diag time and you knew where to start looking.
Those little green stripes in the coil boot will be smeared if they are installed on the end of the plug. I assume to prevent returning a used part to the store. They were so perfect, it looked like they were not even on the plug a little bit. Keep up the great work Danner!

Love this video!! Especially your passion for teaching and the love of a completed diagnosis. I am a recent premium buyer as well as both your digital and hardcopy textbooks. I am an older study.... lol but been in the field off and on since high school. Just today I was thinking of the value of your content, like you said no way can you get 500 hrs. of class, case study and hands on visual diagnosis for 12 bucks a month. Just as you help us I plan on using my knowledge from your content to help my community. It's a 55+ community and many need the help and are limited on funds. I hope to help for little to no cost to them. Appreciate your knowledge and giving it to us at a reasonable price! Also glad you are trying to give us a discount bidirectional scanner that is practical and functional, I really need one but not sure I want to spend 4k+ on a snap on when I'm not a pro. ❤️❤️
This is awesome Nathan! What a great thing you are trying to do for your community. Stay in contact with me when you find someone with some real needs. I want to help too! Thank you for supporting my work in a way that allows me to give back too. May God continue to bless your hands and your mind to enable you to help others.
Paul, you are evidence of what happens when you use whatever talents God has given you to help others. And when you do that, you’re winning in life. Interesting misfire diagnosis especially in context of the previous issue. Stay blessed Danner Fam.
I Learn alot from you paul, and to have you say those verses as i watch this video really lifted my spirits. Made my day complete to see a man so wise yet so humble.
you can actually hear cyl 3 arching in the sparkplug tube. very noticeable when you unplug the connector. good fine danner and always love the scope videos
I like what you said about charging the customer there's an old saying. " Work we have money that's the question " a lot of people don't realize that it was a different problem. Definitely an outstanding video, Thank you for sharing
Awesome 3 part video! I'm dealing with what is likely a stuck open injector on a '18 F150 3.5L ecoboost. Already came to the same conclusion (misfire code, dumping smoke and fuel out the tailpipe, low rail fuel pressure code), so it's great to have someone with so much more experience (and fancier scan tool) have the same thing. Hopefully my high pressure pump isn't part of the problem, but I'll look at the fuel for metal (thanks!). And this was my first time dealing with coils and coil boots, so while it didn't move with the plug or coil, the boots just have a different feel than non-coil systems, so I'll be sure to pay attention to that. And your paid courses sounds great, so while I like the challenge of diagnosing (across a lot of areas) and fixing in person, the classes will be something to look at when I have some time.
I cannot begin to tell you how much I've learned from watching your stuff. I'm going to be an SD premium subscriber next year. I did self taught diagnostics pre OBD II, but never learned the new stuff up until a couple of years ago when I found you. I feel like I can do good with this for the first time, because of what I've learned from you. And oh yeah, I'm 51.
Hey Mr Danner i just want to thank you for your time and the knowledge your passing on to our fellow future technicians. When i got out of lincoln tech 10 plus years ago i was like many of our young techs doing basic jobs making 10 -12 hr.While on a you tube journey i stumbled across your videos about 8 years ago.You open my eyes to whole other side of being a auto technician and the best decision ive made in my career was buying your book. After that I invested in a used verus for the 4 channel scope and my path to where i am now is all because of that you and that book. Now im a lead tech at a major auto chain where all i specialize in engine and electrical diagnostics making 30 plus hr on flat rate.Plus im the only tech with the skill set to do the work at my shop which keeps the work flowing for me plus most weeks touch way less vehicles than my coworkers and flag the same or more with way less stress on my hands and body.......Thank You
I just started watching your videos and I love them. I have been a mechanic all my life and I learn something from you on every video. My strong points are more of heavy line than drive ability issues so I'm soaking up everything you teach. Thank you!!
Saturday AM Danner Bootcamp. It has a bit of everything; tech advise, humor, confusion and church on Saturday. All that was missing is Lassie greeting Paul as he left the repaired vehicle. Glad I had my boots on! ps : Darn straight you deserve to get paid for your efforts.
I am so thankful for you showing the real life experiences of a mechanic. I have also been doing this for over 20 years. I just went to an evening training event held by our local parts supply store, one of the young techs went with me. The instructor keep saying that we should be able to diagnose every problem in 10 minutes. If we are taking longer than that, there is something wrong with us. I kept thinking that maybe magic man could come work for our shop then. I know we should be as efficient as we can be, but that instructor wasn’t speaking truth. You speak truth. Thank you so much for all that you do.
Thank you Joel! Next time just watch one of my classes together with your tech. It will be a lot less expensive 😉 www.scannerdanner.com/join-scannerdanner-premium.html
I continue to look forward to the videos that you produce here on RUclips! I have been a premium member for 3+ years and I can say I am getting the better part of the deal! For $11 a month no matter what I will always have a premium membership for the rest of my life! One thing I have picked up by following you Paul is a better way to troubleshoot and then improved thought process! It’s hard to believe how far I have actually come in my diagnostic ability and I feel very blessed to not only be able to help people better with my knowledge but I also have the feeling that you talked about when you can master a diagnosis and fix the car! God bless the Danner family! Thank you for all you do my friend!
The good thing about that tool is that it just looks like they licensed Launch techs hardware and software so it should be a solid tool. Launch makes some solid bidirectional scan tools.
As soon as you pulled up the first coil I could tell there was no connection to the plug. The factory installed dielectric grease was undisturbed. Still perfect lines of grease in the end of the coil boot.
Also I agree Dan when you get the car fixed after it comes in broken it’s the most rewarding feeling. My boss is really good. He’s so happy when I can fix something properly
I LOVE your brothers ............. MAILBOX - OR MAIL CATCHER! Gotta love a bodger - and I mean that in the nicest sense, ingenuity, resourcefulness and all that, clean, tidy, fit for purpose, not over engineered. That gives me confidence believe it or not that your brother puts the resources and time and money...where its needed in the business and cars are in good hands. Think you should do a deep dive on that "Mail Resources Work and Time Limiter Device" ... and TM it ! 😆
@23:35, I keep a 6" length of clear plastic water hose on hand to check the proper function of the plugs. Slip a quick connect into one end and the plug at the other end and connect it to shop air. If it fires at 100 PSI of dry air, it'll fire the fuel/air charge under compression. If there's a crack somewhere not visible, It won't fire at the electrodes.
@@throttlebottle5906 I can use higher pressure, but 100 PSI is more than enough to detect a faulty plug. IIRC, a good coil barely sparks across 1/8" at 120 PSI. The piece of tubing probably cost me 35 cents 20 years ago. I've only used it a handful of times. It's not worth spending a lot of money on a tester unless you work on aircraft or maybe professional motorsports, which I don't. What kind of tester do you have?
I feel like I got ripped off. He wished good providence for everyone for the day……I’m watching this at night and my day is over. That blows man! 😂 Great video. Just found these. Really like them, and you seem to have a similar sense of humor as my own and a great work ethic and spear to have great integrity. Thanks for the content.
I’ve already learnt so much from the few videos I’ve been watching … loving the knowledge that I was miss lead in the years I’ve been working on cars Thanks heaps Danner mate :)
I've been tracking this awesome troubleshooting since Part 1 and you guys have great skills. Also thank you for the Bible verse of Romans 8:28. All things work together for good indeed! I'm a DIYer and your videos are giving me alot of very useful informations. Keep them coming.
Great video and an odd issue but it was easy to overlook but you figured it out where as other shops could just charge the customer so much for testing and never fix the problem.
Amen brother scanner danner I learned from my Dad about working on cars and trucks when I was young boy I am bless that my dad was there when I need to ask him a question about a car or a truck since and I been teaching my son he's 20 years old now how to work on vehicles I've been teaching him about three to four years now like my dad did before he passed away and November of 2021 but I know my dad is watching down from the heavens above and I am blessed to have people to ask if I'm not sure about something on a car or a truck and also I have learned a lot from your RUclips videos scanner danner when I am not sure about something and other RUclips videos I watch also I think the good Lord for the RUclips videos that then mechanics knows more than I do I can learn from that thank you all God bless y'all
Old school first test on the road is to pull out cable on each cylinder ... Sometimes technology comes in more than necessary and our brain gets confused and stops thinking logically and layers things and the answer is simpler than expected ! Greetings from Europe! I follow you with great interest ! I am respected ! Your desire to solve the problems and you do it in the end one way or another is amazing ! I'm not a Pro but I'm thinking of buying your online version book. Thank you !
The Electrolyte lube they sell for boots, in this case, might have made a difference. It helps the boot ‘slide’ onto the plug. Great call btw!! Enjoyed this vid more than most of yours…Which I enjoy all of them! Thanks 🙏
One thing I'm always harping on, is that just because new parts were installed, doesn't mean it was repaired. It doesn't mean the parts were bad or good. More often than not, a lot of vehicles I've repaired, had the same or more issues due to improper repair. Champion coppers in a vortec V8, etc.
YES SIR ... This is all I can say about this series of videos. this is simply a very good diagnosis. 🎄 Merry Christmas to all the CLAN of the Paul Danners, please include the one who is about to arrive (if) from your son CALEB and wife 🎄 The best of my hugs from Tijuana B, C. 🇲🇽 Mexico. 👍👍 😜
Hi Danner, I cannot begin to tell you how much I've learned from watching your great work. In response I'm going to be an sd premium end of this month, It will be the very best money spent.💰💰 Keep up the great work Danner 👍👍

This is 100 % not a case of sincya. Sincya fixed the injectors it had a misfire. (But I’ll wait 3 months to take it back lol).

Totally could hear it! But I didn't live, not sure why 😉
I like what you said about charging the customer there's an old saying. " Work we have money that's the question " a lot of people don't realize that it was a different problem. Definitely an outstanding video, Thank you for sharing
Great video. Also great representation of it not being a comeback. A similar symptom, but a different cause.
Looking forward to seeing you there Ben! Thank you so much for the encouragement.

Brilliant Paul love how you show things as they are God bless you 👍
Hey Mr Danner i just want to thank you for your time and the knowledge your passing on to our fellow future technicians. Now im a lead tech at a major auto chain where all i specialize in engine and electrical diagnostics making 30 plus hr on flat rate.Plus im the only tech with the skill set to do the work at my shop which keeps the work flowing for me plus most weeks touch way less vehicles than my coworkers and flag the same or more with way less stress on my hands and body.......Thank You
Thank you so much for sharing your story with me! Blessed by this so much
I just started watching your videos and I love them. I have been a mechanic all my life and I learn something from you on every video. My strong points are more of heavy line than drive ability issues so I'm soaking up everything you teach. Thank you!!
I love this guy. Very cool how he share his knowledge and try’s to teach us. Amazing work
Thank you!
I could immediately tell it was a new camera before you even said so. Picture looks fantastic.
Sweet!
🤣 nice! Thanks Rick
That ending speech was epic!!
Awesome video. Love the material and the edits. The goal for 2022 to learn the material from your book.
Thank you!
It will be a lot less expensive 😉

my prayers for your Mom brother,, my mother is having cancer as well here, so our prayers for them both. Amen
Thank you Robert!
We blessed at Scanner Danner.
Ivan and Dan know their stuff.
The “rollercoaster” is real for all of us! We just don’t have to live it out loud! But sure glad you do danner!
Think you should do a deep dive on that "Mail Resources Work and Time Limiter Device" ... and TM it !
😆
Love the edits during the test drive Caleb. Well done.
Another valuable lesson from the book of Danner, and for free thank you brother Paul.
Genius
if your going to waste your time, you may as well build or buy a proper tester with chamber you can pressurize to much higher levels.
@@throttlebottle5906 i don't think this is a waste of time 🙂
I feel like I got ripped off.
He wished good providence for everyone for the day……I’m watching this at night and my day is over. That blows man! 😂
Great video. Just found these. Really like them, and you seem to have a similar sense of humor as my own and a great work ethic and spear to have great integrity.
Thanks for the content.
🤣 well I wish you good providence for tomorrow my new friend
2 brothers working together! That's awesome. So nice to see. You guys believe? Keep the faith guys!!! Cheers from Australia 🙂👍👍👍
Love the edits and the interaction between father and son.
I’ve already learnt so much from the few videos I’ve been watching … loving the knowledge that I was miss lead in the years I’ve been working on cars Thanks heaps Danner mate :)
Glad u guys r SAVED.....I'm just a shade tree bolt on mechanic that likes your vids....and then I heard u share the word... awesome
From the foundation of the world my friend. Not of my own doing in any way.
Its great to see you have so much fun with your son! Thanks for the awesome video my friend!
Thanks Danner for all of your apploaded videos,,it helps me alots on my troubles,,one of your big fan here in Philippines,,god bless you.
I've been tracking this awesome troubleshooting since Part 1 and you guys have great skills. Also thank you for the Bible verse of Romans 8:28. All things work together for good indeed! I'm a DIYer and your videos are giving me alot of very useful informations. Keep them coming.
Thank you my brother
loved the motivational speech and music at the end! 😝
Great video guys. Love 42:15 part
Great video and an odd issue but it was easy to overlook but you figured it out where as other shops could just charge the customer so much for testing and never fix the problem.
Hi Paul, I did not finish my last comment, or for a teacher and a top tier one at that!!!
Amen brother scanner danner I learned from my Dad about working on cars and trucks when I was young boy I am bless that my dad was there when I need to ask him a question about a car or a truck since and I been teaching my son he's 20 years old now how to work on vehicles I've been teaching him about three to four years now like my dad did before he passed away and November of 2021 but I know my dad is watching down from the heavens above and I am blessed to have people to ask if I'm not sure about something on a car or a truck and also I have learned a lot from your RUclips videos scanner danner when I am not sure about something and other RUclips videos I watch also I think the good Lord for the RUclips videos that then mechanics knows more than I do I can learn from that thank you all God bless y'all
I'm so sorry about you dad my friend.
Thanks 🙏
It goes to show take you time and research when you can and double check your work. good job yall keep'em rolling
God bless you and your family for all good things you do it .
Thank you my friend
Amen brother God is good! blessings to you and to your family!!
Thx
🇲🇽 Mexico. 👍👍 😜
