hello everyone thank you for letting me indulge in my questionable opinions for 30 minutes, regular scheduling will now resume. tune in next year to see which game ruins my life this year. Here's a couple of vids I mentioned in this vid:
Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex: ruclips.net/video/Z8sY2dAYXo8/видео.html
Mike Oldfield's MusicVR (Tr3s Lunas): ruclips.net/video/HoAn4lhb1t4/видео.html
I love the way you look at video games it's very refreshing!
luv uuu
I like how personal and honest this list was. It made for a more entertaining video than might be expected for a best-of-the-year.
I though I was late by releasing my best of 2022 video in January lol
You're channel is my favorite place for coverage of b-movie level games and movie tie-ins, and seeing Pentiment fall at the top of your list is awesome.
I love how personalized this list is. A lot of top 5 game lists I've seen have been the exact same handful of games in different orders with maybe one outlier. Those lists were made with the intention of picking the objectively "best game" with the view of critics and well known gamers. But this list was more on what games positively impacted a specific person with a specific taste. In a way I view that as more valuable.
Edit: I will be recommending the Number 1 pick to a sibling I know would love that kind of game. Unless they've already played it.
Atari 50's presentation looks fantastic - I'd love to see more historical games set up like it.
I want Digital Eclipse to make stuff like Atari 50 for Namco, SEGA, even Nintendo if they could.
You will forever be goated for making me aware of the GitS game so please go ahead and mention it whenever you want.
I though I was late by releasing my best of 2022 video in January lol
Loved this list-excellent number one pick!
thank you hamish!
I'm always glad to see GitS Stand Alone Complex getting some much deserved love.
Ah I thought we missed the boat for 2022 content 😅 great to see Pentiment love. Great vid
haha I'm incredibly late but I'll pretend I was taking my time with it to get everything right! thank you - Pentiment is amazing
I though I was late by releasing my best of 2022 video in January lol.
Having this WMM tier editing is refreshing to see from time to time
extremely swag video, however you should've put the ghost in the shell game playing on the crt at 24:27 lol.
i had no idea atari 50 was so cool I'm super excited to check it out now! It was really nice hearing your thoughts on sonic front ears, it was such a fun game that made me so insanely happy while playing.
Am I the only weirdo here that absolutely loves the royalty free stock music Minimme has been using since I got hooked like 3 years ago?
I literally hum it to myself when doing other things all the time. The minimme Style is in my brain and it will not leave
Also love it, it's quite calming and it introduced me to the legend Lakey Inspired.
"And the award for the 7th gen skateboarding game with a surprisingly deep and goofy story mode starring Carrot Top's stunt double that I got around to playing recently goes to"
sadge ubisoft could not turn shaun white into the next tony hawk
@@minimme but in a way it makes his sole Skateboarding game more interesting and unique. It is definitely a product of its era and doesn't need to go through the rollercoaster of quality Tony Hawk has endured around the same time
Minimme, playing games made in the past year? Who are you and what have you done with Minimme?
Pentiment is fantastic though. It deserves that number 1 spot.

This video reminds when LGR used to make videos about the best games from those respective years, but after 2018 he never did them again.
LGR is more hardware now but I enjoy him talking about old hardware.
LGR died in a car crash in 2018 and has been replaced by a body and voice double ever since.
@@HOTD108_ It's all Deepfakes and It's just Gianni Matragano doing the LGR voice.
@@Gatorade69 In fairness, he's the only other person on the planet who could also do the Duke Nukem voice, aside from Jon St. John himself.
I keep thinking about trying Pentiment, if only because all the descriptions I've heard about it remind me of a couple of games from my youth, The Great Escape (not based on the movie of the same name, but it has the same plot) and The Abbey Of Crime (based on the book "The Name Of The Rose"). The idea of both games is that you're wandering around this semi-open world going about your daily routine, but there is also a deeper plot that you have to discover and eventually complete. The Great Escape has you in a WWII prison camp attempting to find a way to escape, while The Abbey Of Crime has you in a monastery trying to solve a string of murders that are happening within the monastery's walls. As you do these things, though, you have to try to keep up appearances by participating in different activities. For example, The Great Escape has you going to roll car, going to the exercise yard, going for meals, etc. Abbey Of Crime, similarly, has you going to church every morning, going for meals, going to prayer offices, etc. If, within either game, anyone sees you outside of your duties you get punished by having a meter go down (in Great Escape it's morale, in Abbey it's obedience), and if the meter goes all the way down the game is over (in Great Escape you die, in Abbey you're thrown out of the abbey).
Apparently Abbey Of Crime was super popular in Spain, to the point that there is a Game Boy Advance port of it.
The Abbey of Crime sounds truly fascinating and I hadn't heard of it - I've noted this one on my to play list thank you! And I've been meaning to check out The Great Escape game on this channel for a while. I think you'll enjoy Pentiment - though it's probably not as strict about life sim stuff
I love the names of the awards :D And the picks are excellent too
I was also that dork, Midway Arcade Classics for PSP was my first portable video game, I grew up with digital eclipse. It's always a annoyed how reviews of old games will always be like 'remember the good old days before the internet' and I'm like 'no I don't'. Atari 50 is my goty. If you read this, Please review more old games. Us young nerds who didn't grow up with the games in the compilation on original hardware need representation
didn't expect Session to show up. been on it since the early access days in 2020. Very cool and yeah they def need some work
Great video! I hope this is the start of a yearly tradition :)
Pentiment (also my goty) and Saints Row on the same list is a great energy to have. Love your relationship with COD, I have the same 'I probably should feel guilty but it's just so fun' thing for Far Cry games.
Oh thank god i know what to think now.
Thank you, minime!
I'm glad Atari 50 getting its due.
As a games Enthusiast myself interested in history, it's a treat.
I love how much your specific taste in games resembles my own, great job as always dude
Absolutely incredible video bro
Amazing video! Because your channel is so much about the things that you love, is nice to get to know about this other games that you like but don't talk about it much.
P.s.: Pentiment is AWESOME, hope they keep up this type of projects on Microsoft.
This is
the most minimme video

the minimme channel
I've not played Sonic Frontiers, but Holy hell, the music is lovely
my man tried to sneak in mw2 in there...
It makes me happy that there are still NFS Heat apologists out there.
I was surprised to find that the najority of people didn't like heat. I loved it
my hot need for speed take is NFS Heat is the best NFS game ever
@minimme I honestly think the same. It's my favourite NFS and I always thought its lukewarm reception was unfair.
Agree about MW2. Except the aim assist. That needs to be toned down drastically. That or just give K&M a little bit of aim assist to not be so unmatched like how Halo did.
My favourite game last year was Elden Ring and Pokemon Legends: Arceus (finally an actual great Pokemon game on Switch.)
2nd was Sonic Frontiers, can't believe it made me empathy and feel sad for Eggman.
I really should hop on Arceus - I think it's a game I'll love too when I get around to it. And I can't believe I care about Sonic now lol. What didn't you like about GT7?
@@minimme On the Sonic note, you should really give Spark the Electric Jester 3 a play. Absolutely wonderful game.
hadn't heard of this one but I've wishlisted it thank you - looks fun
This video is the embodiment of “graphic design is my passion”
This video was fun and refreshing!
You are quite literally the only person I have ever seen who says they enjoyed the Saint's Row reboot. I had to rewind the video a bit because I thought I got lost, or skipped ahead on accident. You actual madman.
His thoughts have made me genuinely consider picking it up when it eventually goes on sale on Steam. I honestly didn't think the writing was _too_ bad in all the clips people were sharing around, though it was definitely a bit shallow, but I thought that could be okay in the right context. From what people were saying about the rest of the game, it didn't sound like the right context was present, but minimme's thoughts make me think that perhaps it is. Maybe everyone else's expectations were set at the level this game _should_ have been at for a continuation of a beloved franchise, when the game we got wasn't anywhere near that. Maybe accepting what the game is rather than bemoaning what it isn't is the key to enjoying it.
I think DominateEye has summed it up pretty well here. Because I went into it knowing it was not what anyone wanted, that's a big part of why I think I enjoyed it so much
-information
As a black belt, sifu has some of the best martial arts gameplay I’ve ever played. It’s prefect and the fighting is super real
What caused me to get into Ghostwire Tokyo was playing it right after Spyro Reignited Trilogy, I think. I played it like another collectathon.
The story is minimal, the combat is simple... but the atmosphere, the vibe of exploring an empty Tokyo hooked me. I got carried away in the spirit-hunting sidequests, collecting every nekomata item, and finding disguised tanuki. Got plat within like 35 hours of playing.
Like RDR2, If you just wanna blitz through the story and combat encounters, you're going to have a repetitive, unmemorable playthrough.
It's the type of game to play with a podcast/music, collecting spirits to decompress after a long day. Maybe a rainy day. The lack of NPCs and people works to it's favor.
My wife also loved it and it was her first plat, and she usually despises open world games.
yeah maybe I'll reapproach it with different expectations and get into it this time, I really really want to like it
Frontiers is weird because it's like a 7/10 not because its actually a 7/10, but because for half of people it's a 10/10 and for the other half its a 4/10
23:43 he said the thing 😱ඞ
Man I really wanted to love Session. I used to skate at skateparks back in the day and played the crap out of Skate 3. Was expecting Session to basically be the next Skate. The graphics are pretty nice, I'll give it that.
Yeah I'm the same, one of those games that's made for people like me but it just didn't click
Quote: God of War Ragnarok (Did not like the first one)
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! :)
As a 40+ year old Gamer and Gaming for over 30 years i can say now that you are my favorite Gen Z or Millenial or.....whatever....Gaming YTuber. Most of the Time people your age are only into Hypestuff,Pokemon or some other Genres i do not care for.
Please Continue what you do. I enjoy it immensly. :)
I've been considering Atari 50 for a while. Didn't realise it was by Digital Eclipse so I shouldn't be surprised how good it is but I also didn't realise just how much content it had.
Just when I thought you would have run out of transitions/title card templates, you somehow found another 😂
It is never late to make a review of a year.
Change my mind.
Truly the GOAT of 'top X best games of the year' lost videos.
Good video idea, it’s no driver San Francisco video but still decent
Man, that Ghost in the Shell game really has some talented art direction. Reminds me a bit of Parasite Eve.
no award for most graphically impressive gba game of 2022? you gotta show some love to attack on voxelburg!
Watching Sonic Frontiers gameplay just makes me ask "Why is Sonic set in the Death Stranding map?"
Edit: I don't know why but I grew to disdain the roguelike genre. And I actually play and like a lot of games that has randomized parts, though roguelike is more specific than that.
I think it was the hype I had for years for Dead Cells and when I finally had a computer that could handle it, I was massively disappointed. And then the Spelunky, I think I unsubbed from a youtube reviewer who just didn't shut up about Spelunky and made me curious enough to try it and go "meh."
I know it is very very personal, and a me issue. But after so many people praised Sifu and i finally watched a short review to learn it is a roguelike... I wanted to ramble about it a bit.
Edit 2: Pentiment is very interesting. I am stuck just after the murder because I realized that I suck at decision making and I can't decide who to have lunch with... Omg... Great game so far though.
Shout out to the person who wrote an article basically praising the game but the take away is "everything is good but there is too much dialog and I didn't finish the game." I can understand them but I don't know why they decided to write an article about it, it wasn't a review or a news piece, they just do what I am doing here and getting paid and appear in the first page of google results.
I've been enjoying saints row, tbf I got it for 10 quid so that helps, sure it's not as good as previous entries, but for a silly mindless romp it's a solid 6. Can see why people who paid full whack would be pissed though
Ghost in the Shell - I didn't know about this game when I started to get into console gaming back in 2009 and started to buy anything that looked vaguely interesting. I knew the movie, I love it, but I didn't know about this PS2 game. I was pleasantly surprised how fun it was and yeah, the soundtrack and sound effects played a huge part in that, visually it looks great, but the gameplay is a bit stiff. I had more Ghost in the Shell vibes from Oni back in my earlier PC days. If they could combine Oni and GitS-SAC into one game, that would be the ultimate Ghost in the Shell game!
Speeking of old games that I played for the first time, I started to play Ace Attorney games in 2022 and boy I'm loving them! I feel stupid for not playing them before, Apollo Phoenix is my game of the year of 2022 :)
You can sell cars in gt7, it was added in an update, but I think it's not worth it due to the insignificant amount of credits you receive.
Yeah economy in GT7 just ruins any enjoyment of the game. The online mode is the only good part of it at the moment. I was hoping for a lengthy carreer mode but at this point I doubt they will ever add it and with such dumb AI it would be boring after few races anyway.
@@Psztyk236 agreed.
Funny thing is that the trailer for the new update shows a new ai system or something like that.
Love you!
awesome seeing sonic frontiers on this list 👍
Great video
8:45 - Clap Hanz is still continuing with this series, though they've only been doing the golf side of it for the last decade+.
I'm really hoping they drop another Everybody's Tennis because it's one of the best arcade tennis games ever I think
Saint's Row was also a game I went into with extremely low expectations, but found myself having a ton of fun for way longer of a time than most games these days.
with seeing two skating related games, i suggest checking out airblade on the ps2, the soundtrack slaps and the gameplay is surprising
As a skateboarder who’s been playing Session on Xbox since day one, I was surprised to see it in this video. But I get it. Although it’s a very buggy game I gotta say it’s progressed a lot since day one, especially considering it’s an indie game. As far as momentum feeling wonky, there are advanced settings where you can mess with the physics of the game (this can either perfect or completely break the gameplay) so that may help, but I do agree that physics do need to be worked on. But as a skateboarder I think Session has the features that skaters would want on a simulation game while also representing the skate culture pretty well. The developers are also pretty vocal about what they’re working on so I appreciate that as well. All in all I’m happy with what it is, despite its flaws.
I can't believe someone actually enjoy Saints Row 2022 and it actually make sense why
Sonic game feels like we fight some neon genesis evangelion angels
while i hugelly agree and greatly disagreee with many of your picks, I think that the fact that something is not for everyone is what makes it perfect for you
bro likes new saints row more than gow
thank you for mentioning marvel snap, as a hearthstone fiend myself, my brother gives me shit all the time for playing marvel snap cuz he hates marvel and rightfully so lol
are people really mad at you because you liked saints row? lmao
I remember watching a review of the game and it was described as a "barebones sandbox from the 360 era" and my first thought was that minimme will get a kick of it
Was slightly hoping to see just a crumb of Chained Echoes
Is Sifu like Sekiro but with hand-to-hand combat instead?
I though I was late by releasing my best of 2022 video in January lol
AMAZING
The only important awards show
Honestly a great list! I loved Elden Ring and GOW Ragnarok, but Sifu and Pentiment have stuck with me much more than either of them so I’m glad to see them get love here.
It's really funny how you say that Sonic Frontiers just sorta throws you into it and lets you figure it out on your own; as one of the big complaints with the game on release was the constant inundation of tutorial pop-ups that interrupted game flow for nearly the first three hours of the game.
can't find your tres lunas video >:0
it's the "Mike Oldfield" one - hopefully YT lets me link this: ruclips.net/video/HoAn4lhb1t4/видео.html
The Marvel Snap one is painfully real XD
Wow. I can't believe you don't like Sony walking games. They're so cinematic!
I never thought I would like a souls game but Elden Ring hooked me hard. I'm approaching skyrim hours in it now.
minimme you should review saboteur
26:56 - what was that
Erm, yep. That's epic.
So happy to see your number 1 game was mine too! I was completely sucked into Pentiment. Absolutely amazing game, and truly a game that proves games can be art.
Also, happy to see your #2 was the same as mine. I’ve been a COD player since the first COD i. 2003 and I’ve had a blast with Modern Warfare II!
I'm literally playing NFS Unbound at the moment, I COMPLETELY agree with all the points you made, including Heat being a great game. Personally, I give it a 6 out of 10.
please tell me that by now you've play Rollerdrome. its not long to beat, and even shorter to just play enough that you have an opinion on it. it's really good, the gameplay is so so so so satisfying. Please, just turn it on.
YOU'RE WINNER !
the stray cat reviewbaitlike genre
That's not medieval, that's early modern.
PENTIMENT LETS GOOOOOOO ❤❤❤❤
That was cool
So literally durin me watching this video GT announced the new update includes VR support but more importantly GT Sophy AI events. Sophy is this crazy racing game AI with the talent be faster than all the top players in the world but more importantly the nuance to give normal players incredibly good racing. It's a limited time event until the end of March and if it's as intersting as everyone says it is, racing with Sophy AI, you NEED to try it out
More importantly this video was great and you should use more default movie maker effects next year and also please do another next year xoxo gossip girl
oh they finally released that Sophy stuff - that's awesome. Definitely enough of a reason to check it out again. And thank you!
- That Saints Row Reboot is a disaster mainly because of the title (never mind all the other issues). You may say "but SR3 changed from SR2 and even SR4 changed a lot compared to SR3"........and while thats true, even SR4 still felt like SR. This reboot has absolutely nothing what made SR great and just used the name to sell copies. If Volition goes bankrupt or something, than they deserved it. They should have made this Reboot a new IP instead.
- When i've played GT7 when it came out (glad i didnt buy it), one thing really annoyed the hell out of me and the same damn thing happened with GTSport: Always online. I dont even need to consider the rest, the fact that you can barely play it offline is a big slap in the face to long time GT fans. I am glad i dropped off GT after i got screwed with GTS.
- Yeah, Everybody's Tennis is indeed a lot of fun.
- Lets be honest here, NFS stopped being good when the first MW hit the scene. Underground 2 and MW are the pinacle of the franchise and while i havent played that weird Unbound (weird with its Anime effects as it desperately wants to be cool), no other title of the franchise came even close to U2 and MW (or even NFS4). Sure, nothing was as bad as Undercover but still, not good either.
- I own various games that are collections (Data East Arcade, Atari Flashback, Namco Musem, Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection, etc), i am simply a sucker for those and this new Atari Collection is just another one that simply had to join my party. Unlike Sega, i never owned an Atari and never played on a real one (should buy a 2600 tho), so playing games that were released before my time is awesome. Its simply amazing to be able to experience these games, some of which made history in their time.............but would be cool if the devs also gave away an Atari 2600 controller with it, so the experience would be closer to authentic.
yeah the always online thing in GT7 is ridiculous, I'm annoyed at myself that I forgot to mention it in this video. And I'm glad to come across another atari 50 and everybody's tennis fan! they're both unreal
the movement, the sprinting, the shooting, the grenade throwing, the anuses, the sliding, the diving
It's weird that I enjoy content about games that I mostly have no interest in so much. Thanks for all the hard work!
Based Pentiment enjoyer
Okay I’ve seen critiques on God of War and how it maybe doesn’t do anything all that new or innovative, but to just not like it? Oof
It's gonna be hard to trust a man that likes the new saint's row..
Sifu is beast
Nicee videoo
I think people were way too hard on Saints Row. It's not perfect, and it didn't know how to find that middle ground between pleasing existing fans and reaching out to new ones. But it's fun, it's fast paced, it's silly, the setting is unique, and it's got some of the deepest customization I've seen in an open world game.
