Thank you so much for that, im glad if my videos can help someone out sometime, thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos, always something different, not just boats although they are probably my favorite haha
Very detailed video on this procedure, should use Silicone grease instead of Vasoline on anything rubber or plastic petroleum based grease like Vasoline can be damaging to some rubbers and plastics.
Thank you and Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports, its an oil seal anyways but ive been using vasoline for many years no issues, but ive also used wheel bearing grease to hold seals in place when in a groove and ive used silicone, sometimes i just run with what i have handy at that time lol , ive used motor oil even wd40 haha , luckily not many issues over 30 + yrs , not to say cant get an occasional cheap bad China seal or gasket tho
Man I've always wanted the 60 horsepower .I use my boat primarily for electric reservoirs .the 2001 motor 40 horsepower Mercury 2 stroke that I have on there only has about 5 or 6 hours total because I'm primarily running electri. when I purchased the 2001 175 special edition it was like a $$2000 upgrade from the 25 which came with the boat to the 40 and maybe another 500 bucks would have got me the 60 .Sure wish I had the money at the time to go with the 60.40 gets around but 60 would be much nicer.
@@Vassmotorsports With the motor upgrade I paid 11000 maybe 11100. If I remember correctly the motor from a 25 horsepower to the 40 horsepower upgrade was $1999. I'm actually getting the boat ready to gofor the 1st time this year and the 1st time in 3 years Looks like a new fuel line I'm gonna clean out the carburetor put some ethanol free gas in it and pretty sure she'll fire right up
Hey thanks for the video! I have the exact motor in your video. When the motor is running it pumps the water just fine through the pee hole and through the prop. But I noticed that it is also leaking water on the backside lower shaft case. Small hole right in the middle of the lower mounting bracket. Is this normal?
Thank you and Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports, hope you check out some of my other videos, unfortunately I sold that boat right after i did the full restoration before this video so i cant say for sure ,but I just had a little Sea Nymph boat i sold last week with a 90 hp johnson outboard and it did very similar to what you are explaining because i wasn't expecting it to be shooting water out of that area either ,, so if it is an actual factory hole on the leg than i would expect its normal
I would assume it has the 2 wide seals for the prop shaft ,yes , and couple orings might be different because they make the kit so universal for different size engines , thanks for watching Vassmotorsports
Definitely just from sitting so many years and then I got boat running and took to lake( earlier videos) before I ever started spending time and money on restore till I knew was running good , then it sat through the winter again
here’s an engine gremlin our evinrude e-tec since new has a over heating issue anything over 3,000 rpms on a 150 hp h.o. the heat alarm sounds in the boat. we have a RANGER Z 118 it doesn’t always do it. but if you try n play not every run it will say hot. not the water pump??
Thanks for watching but im not much help on these outboards, this is my first bass boat. All my other boats and boats i restore have mercruiser v8 chevy engines so i know those inside and out
What size prop are you running I’ve got the same motor on a 16ft monark a lot like a bass tracker and idk what pitch to run it’s got a 13 pitch now but I think I could go with a taller pitch just curious what yours is
sorry im not sure and sold the boat right after i restored it and did these seals. ,thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos, have you seen the restoration of this boat ? ruclips.net/video/hyABNk-CrH8/видео.htmlsi=8UtDAnzLz91T3G_v
Yes this is the most common spot ,especially because if it sits alot the oil is not touching it and when in use the shaft is always spinning fast, thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope you check out some of my other videos
Thanks for the tutorial, but you completely skipped changing the shift shaft seal. I’m trying to figure out how to get it out and what it needs. Can you help?
Thanks for that. It was so easy I didn't bother showing. Used a pick or small screwdriver to pop old seal out (pay attention to the direction of seal) and used a deep socket to push new one in. Very simple. Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos
my 2021 Tracker Classic Mercury 50 EFI leaks water with the muffs on when flushing.. It leaks where the lower unit and main housing meet.. Is that normal ??. Getting good pee stream out back.. The leak appears to be coming from the water pump housing.. Is a small water pump leak a problem???
Thanks for watching Vassmotorsports but I'm not really familiar with that newer engine. Maybe someone else has a video of that motor or even different HP but closer same year to see , sorry I couldn't help ya ,
i dont know but should be very similar to this 60hp. have you tried looking for a 120 hp or little bigger if this isnt the same maybe one of those will be. thanks for watching Vassmotorsports and hope ya check out some of my other videos sometime
@@Vassmotorsports I have watched several of your videos .. very clear and concise step by step info ! yours are the closest I have been able to find honestly.
I have looked at larger HP Mercury but nothing that resembles the tower of power 115 Please let me know if you are planning to do a lower seal replacement video.. as I am stumped at this point lol 🙂
@@rhcoopercat wow thank you for that. and hope it helps ya to get yours knocked out and good luck with your project, I didn't bother with the prop shaft seal as it wasnt leaking and stays in the fluid as its at the bottom
I thought about it but there is nothing wrong with it and im scared to put some new China junk that will be lucky to make it a year , I pulled it apart last year when i first got the boat and got her running and when i seen how nice this one was i left it then too and sent the cheap new one back , I ran the boat on lake couple times and when i pulled apart this time its still in perfect shape, trust me it bothers me too but sometimes if it aint broke dont fix it

Man that's low hours on a motor. Curious how much was a boat like these new back 01-02 range ?
