    Lovely lace. I like the idea of exploring different knitting “genres” in small projects. The cowls are small enough to have limited intimidation factor, but big enough to develop some muscle memory and comfort with the technique. I want to end up with something real / useable and not just a swatch.

      I'm good with just a swatch but I realize that I'm weird that way LOL! For me these are almost swatches.

    These little cowls are so cute. And, I love the lace. Most of my sock yarn is kinda wild or variegated, which I don’t think works well in lace. But, definitely going to add these patterns to my library. Thanks!!

    • @WatchBarbaraKnit
      @WatchBarbaraKnit  Год назад +1

      Due to the dynamic nature of the lace in this one, I am pretty sure it will hold up well to a decent amount of variegation.

    This cowl is exactly what I want to make when I am finished with my Farnese Shawl (Polka Knits). The lace in the pattern has those "rest rows" as you mention in this video, and I get kind of bored making those and instead long for the fun "lace rows". The Second Sock Cowl 2 Electric Boogaloo is just fun rows!
    PS. The Farnese shawl is an awesome pattern. I am a beginner knitter and I just realise with time and experience what I enjoy most in knitting. DS.

    I had to giggle at your "2nd sock syndrome" that is me with fingerless gloves albeit knitted or crochet. LOL, I'm all eager for the first one and then dread the 2nd as if it was a punishment hehe. I've been crocheting since I was 6 and knitting for 16 years and have yet to make a knitted sock, I have done tube socks and nifty knitter socks, but not the same. Don't know what I am doing wrong, but someday I will get a pair of socks done! Also, I just wanted to say out of all the RUclips Knitting channels/hosts, You're my favorite! I've done many of your shawls, as I receive donated yarn sometimes( I am disabled and only have hubby's income) and send them out as prayer shawls. helps me keep my mind off my own problems. Also, your laugh is so contagious! This pattern is really beautiful! Thanks for all you do! God bless!💜 Sorry for babbling.

    I guess I won’t knit just one sock. I ALWAYS knit them 2@aTime, toe up! That way I do not play yarn chicken at the end of a skein and I like the look of the toe when I cast on the stitches with Judy’s Magic Cast-On!! Then i will use the German Short Row Heel. Do not like to do the after thought heel or those other heels where you have to pick up the stitches as you knit. I am going to start another pair of socks now using the Sweet Tomato heel. The toes are cast on a little different. But I am anxious to try it!
    It seldom fails though, I always have some yarn leftover. But I store it away in a special container. That is what I use if one/both socks need a mending. And if I cannot find the yarn to mend the sock, I use a totally different color and it looks like a bandaid on my favorite sock! I like to knit the toes, heels and cuffs in a corresponding color and will use that yarn to fix any boo-boo’s also.
    I have so many cowls and shawls! But can only wear in the fall/winter. My family cringes at Christmas time, scared to open any gift--“oh no! Another knit something!!” So I make Prayer Shawls for anyone who may be sick, physically, mentally, whatever. Our group has stacks of them. One of the ladies and I are the only two who knit them. The other ladies crochet them. I like to try out new patterns on a shawl, just to see how easy it is, if I might like to make a sweater, baby blanket, etc.. with that pattern.
    I also like to keep a supply of washcloths, scrubbies, hot pan holders, in coordinating colors. They make a nice Thank You gift!
    I don’t sell my crafts, I prefer to use them as gifts.
    When I die, I have instructed my DIL, who also knits, to sneak into my stash room and remove ALL the totes of yarn 🧶 🧶🧶🫣!!😊

    Beautiful cowl, Barbara! I still haven't worked up the gumption to try knitting in the round or cables, so a combination of the two might just tempt me in a small proportion (easier to frog if I get it wrong 😢)

    I have paid for the Easy & Flexible simple shawl pattern last week whIch I am excited to knit and have not yet received the pattern so would not pay for any more at this point for any more patterns. I would like to knit this cowl in the future but am not prepared to purchase it at this time - it does look nice. I used the video link in RUclips to access the pattern and receive a message that it’s only a small business and it will follow Rah! Rah! I note that Barbara is in US and I am in Australia - perhaps it will arrive eventually. I have noted the cost has been deducted from my account.

      I have looked through both my Payhip and Ravelry records and have found one sale of Impulse Buy to an Australian email address. You should have received an email from Ravelry with a link to download the pattern on the day you purchased the pattern. I would recommend searching your email, including spam and promotions, for Ravelry or Impulse Buy. For any additional support I recommend you email me at tumpedduck at gmail dot com . The comments on this RUclips channel are not meant for pattern support.

    So i understand the difference between knitted lace and lace knitting but why does the distinction between fabric created with increases and decreases made only every other row and fabric created with them on every row exist? Just because one is" more advanced"?? Maybe future video on this topic?
