  • We installed the BW Biker Bar in our cargo trailer conversion. Best purchase we have made. Bike doesn't move an inch. This is a great way to go camping and take your motorcycles with you and explore the area. Can't wait to test this out. No straps no tie downs. #motorcycle #trailer #bikerbar

    After years of using straps to secure my bike, I decided to give Biker Bar a try. I bought it in August of 2018 and have never used straps since. I use it often as I travel 8 to 10 weeks a year moving to a new location every 7 days. It's so easy to set up and use. I highly recommend this product. BTW, my bike is a Honda VTX 1300R locked inside of a 24-foot toy hauler travel trailer.

    I have had this system for about 4 years now. I installed one in my toy hauler and we live in New Hampshire and towed the 34 ft toy hauler with my 16 Road King in the garage all the way to ARIZONA and absolutely no movement on my bike. Over 6000 miles of towing and I couldn't have had more ease of mind. Best investment I made. One thing I would mention is to put a small bolt and nut through the handle you tighten to make sure it doesn't come loose and on the clamping section also you can put a bolt through to insure it doesn't open as well.

    I do like the biker bar concept. I would suggest building around your front tires now. I built a half wall that encapsulated mine. But my trailer is 8.5x16 so I have a lot more room and travel with 1 bike. Thx for sharing! R

    • @MotoCurvesCurls
      @MotoCurvesCurls  2 года назад +2

      I we thought about that but would lose room. As we converted it to a camper as well. Both bikes fit perfect. If I knew now what I did than I would have went to the 8.5x16 as it would have gave us so much more room and space. But it works and we love it. Thank you for your comment. ❤️

    Great video and demonstration! Just bought my first Harley and had to put in my trailer the other day to take it in the shop and it was a pain to strap down. I was worried the entire trip as Indiana has the worse roads and trailer bouncing constantly. I will definitely be looking into this

    • @MotoCurvesCurls
      @MotoCurvesCurls  2 года назад +1

      Yes, we here in Louisiana really rough roads. I have take bike from here to Tennessee without one inch of movement. I even checked after 10 mins, then again 30 and so on. I even made a mark to see. Nothing. I will not tie my bike down ever again. We do not use it often as I love to ride long distance. But the purpose was for us to go camping and motorcycling without the cost of buying a toy hauler. Definitely look into it and watch other videos. You will be impressed.

      As a trucker, I can attest to IN having some of the worst roads.... definitely the worst in the midwest. MI & IL are a close second/third.
      As a biker.... never heard of this product!! I've always thought getting the bike on the frame in the center, then strapping it so it's not compressing the suspension was the best plan, but this is two steps better.

    I have had the biker bar in 3 different trailers. I have hauled extensively and have never had an issue. It has held even when I screwed up and didn't get one side latched in securely. The only problem i have is that my bike is lowered so when I ride the bike into the trailer with the bar attached, it hits the trailer floor when I enter the trailer.

    What about the mount plates underneath the trailer, did you not use them?

    • @MotoCurvesCurls
      @MotoCurvesCurls  Год назад +1

      Yes, what we did was mount brackets to underneath trailer. That way we can remove the top as we use our trailer for both trailering bikes but as a camper. We bolted bottom so one bolts will not fall through and it’s secured. Second we able to put grommets in holes on top to seal from outside. Works pretty good no issues. How my husband did this is beyond me. He did it way after we did this video to ensure nothing comes loose.

    • @MotoCurvesCurls
      @MotoCurvesCurls  2 года назад

      I had to adjust it based on my bike. And the bar has to be for your particular bike such as a street glide, road glide. Due to the under carriage. But yes I did have to adjust the height of the base for bar to fit.

    Will it rub the ground in the corner ?

    • @MotoCurvesCurls
      @MotoCurvesCurls  Год назад

      No not at all. The base itself can be removed as long as you use the right bolts at the bottom so they do not fall when you move base. The base is the only thing attached to the ground. The bar itself sits high enough that it will not hit the ground.

    I seen this at a outdoor show this past Feb. My question is concerning the bar attached to the bike. Does it prohibit you from making turns (bar scrapping the road)? Interested in your reply.

    • @MotoCurvesCurls
      @MotoCurvesCurls  Год назад +1

      You do not keep the bar on when riding. It’s very easy to remove and put back on the frame of your bike. How we tow our bikes. We get bike close to trailer. We then attach bar and ride straight on to mount. Unloading we back up and remove the bar and put in trailer.

      Depending on the trailer, you could even ride up in the trailer before adding the bar.... and remove it right after unlocking and before backing out. That would solve low ground clearance for some bikes at the breakover point where ramp meets floor.

    Two bolts only through the floor of the trailer for each Biker Bar? It does not look strong enough for me to hold such heavy motorcycles in case of a crash with the trailer...

      There is a plate that goes under the cargo trailer. It is very secure doesn’t move. Check out the reviews and other videos. My bike did not move. We took trailer down some horrible roads here in Louisiana. Bumps, potholes. My motorcycle didn’t move.

    Does the bar go on the bike with the kick stand up or down?

    • @MotoCurvesCurls
      @MotoCurvesCurls  3 года назад +2

      Great question. So the biker bar comes in different types depending on your motorcycle. It fits all Harley-Davidson motorcycles. This bar also comes with really good instructions. My bar fits further back at the bottom to allow the kick stand to go up. You ride motorcycle into place and that is it. Don’t need to put kick stand down. When you ready to ride your bike remove the bar and you good to go.

    Now that ia about as stupid as I have seen hauling an expensive motorcycle. Two half inch bolts taking all that stress going down the road moving side to side and front to back. More power to you if you trust that dumb thing. Give me the locking wheel chock and a couple of straps that hauling is much more secure. This thing is a damn joke also putting a lot of stress on the frame of the 800 plus pound bikes. Good luck with that crap.

      There appears to be plenty of room in the base plate to drill and add other bolts. If you fear the two bolts failing, add more on the inside and outside of the latching brackets. Just saying. BTW : EXCELLENT VIDEO.
