chris your like a fine wine you only get better with time! i remember back in 90 or 91 you bowling high rollers in vegas watching you then great stuff!
Excellent video Chris! Like how you threw the ball at different speeds. Explained the layout and the surface changes. Then compared the reaction by throwing other balls. Very informative. Appreciate it and keep up the good work!!
The IQ's have always been great. I can't say I've ever thrown a bad one. But "Goldie" is still the best. That ball has been in my arsenal since it was first released in 2012
I love my IQ fusion tour and the goldie IQ....thinking about replacing fusion with the ruby....just got the virtual energy blackout...great ball as well.... i can take all 3 to different houses and patterns...
@@chrisrichardson4984 I got the Virtial Energy Blackout last Friday. It was everything I hoped for and more. The IQ Ruby is in the bag, and I've since retired old goldie. The ruby was an apt replacement.
This is just a little bit stronger than the Hustle Wine right? Im just getting back into bowling after a 20 year hiatus and its great to see that my favorite bowler (Chris) from when i was a little kid is still crushing.
I think some of the reason I struggle on a typical house shot in league is because I’m always throwing the latest high performance release at the time…..I’ve learned that in league play, balls like this are more than suitable….won’t over react or burn up early and somewhat controllable….kinda reminds me of old balls such as a green messenger or a red alert danger zone….not to say that Mr Barnes, I’m sure can throw an old rubber house ball and make it look good. If it wasn’t for a few stone 8 and 9’s, Chris would have about 35-40 titles, there’s no doubt in my mind…he is just that naturally gifted and when you throw all that practice on top of that….best bowler I know is from 300 Bowl in Waterford, Mi (and actually looks like a cross between Chris Barnes and Randy Pedersen), he’s a Michigan Hall of Famer, and as great as he is, after the few professional events he participated in, said that you cannot fathom how good these guys are out on tour until you actually see them up close and personal….Mr. Barnes is one of the greatest to have ever played the game!!
great review i am brand new to Arsenal building. so i am trying to understand why people would want to have some of these balls in bag like hustle USA and Revenant. Right now the only ball i have is Hy-road pearl i dont know if i need 3 balls only or 6 since im new
i did preorder. after losing a tornamet to a senior using the gold one on burned lanes. You needed to sneak tight to catch oil and then hope it could finish and not leave 10"s. If you got outside just a hair too much , high head pin, left lots of 6-10 leaves. He lays this gold iq on the oil with some revs, long it goes and never leaves a 10 pin. so smooth.
When you move right 7 and say “take your hand out of it” do you literally physically make an adjustment with your grip, or are you just referring to not hitting it as hard at the bottom/stay behind it?
My grandpa gave me his burgundy hammer from back in the day. I mentioned this to Ryan before on his channel, but would you want to try it out if I got a way to send it to you?
I'd keep moving left just because of those nasty approaches. Does anyone there clean that up, or is that years of accumulated house shoe-spilled soda-stepped on pepperoni gunk?
@@steveboone1498 pin down balls mean the ball is weaker, therefore retaining energy on the backend, and pin up makes it reed sooner and be overall more ball. For example ive had a few Phase II's, and the first two were standard layouts for me, then I drilled a lot weaker one. Its overall less ball but extremely noticeable how much more energy it retained, therefore creating more backend.
If you want that "strong looking" ball just get the lower level balls. They snap much harder and are almost too strong compared to stuff like this. Or too weak in heavy oil
When Chris is all over the place, with the correct name of the balls. You know it’s that good! 😂
😂😂😂

Pretty good game for a senior! Ball looks great

Glad you liked it!
Very informative. I’m 72 and still looking for ways to improve my game. This is a big help. Thanks!
Those approaches looks scary to slide on. Nice ball
Chris Barnes I like watching your videos you Mach up perfectly with my style of bowling thank you so very much
Glad you like them!

Agree and then mine split in half so I got the emerald when it dies I'll get the rubie :)
@Charles Fastner The ruby is probably the closest to Goldie I've seen so far. The emerald is a tad stronger to my eyes but still a great ball
@@XenoGuru it's a ball that I feel like belongs in everyone's bag

Love the iq line from the tour solid to the ruby storms greatest line besides the phaze line I love everything storm roto grip and 900 global

I would say more than a little bit. But we like both those ball on the channel
For you the ball is very smooth I like the IQ Ruby.
Are there any plans to start doing Pin Up/Pin Down comparisons?
Yet another great video!! Thanks, you two.
Darren Tang made a video on the ruby pin up and down :)
Someone on my bowling league gave me an iq emerald, and a roto grip daredevil. And the iq emerald might be my favorite ball.

As somebody who uses low-pins often, seeing this is nice
Thanks for all your info, very helpful.

I'm really thinking of getting this drilled pin down because it hooks so much.
That's what I did and I have really like it
You son Ryan should have a head to head matches against Wichita State alumni bowlers starting against you and Sean Rash to start.
The ball looks good. What's the pin down layout give you over a pin up?
Generally a little earlier and smoother. But with this ball it seemed to almost make it stronger!
@@BeefandBarnzyI got one currently pin way up. And I have no hook. Whats a strong layout you would recommend for making it more aggressive down lane?
Was the USA polished? Want to get a Ruby to fit above it and under my Night Road.
Making this ball look like a cheat code from every spot on the lane hahaha
It looks like a Pearl Aftershock, I'm in! :-)
Reminds me of my old Red Melee
Damnit, I was eyeing this at my local pro shop… I might need to buy it now!!
Hi Chris - did you say that this was the IQ RUBY TOUR bowling ball? Also is it the reactive or the urethane?
Thank you Chris
I just pre-ordered the Ruby IQ,
I am tempted to put the Gold, Emerald, and Ruby IQ all in the bag at the same time :)
Nice!!
The tactician from deep!
If could only have the solid or the ruby which would you recommend?
Thank you for making this video
Any overlap if I already have a Hustle Wine?
Awesome review Chris !
Glad you enjoyed it
I may finally get an IQ now.

Less hand grip pressure and less rotation both
when Kent (from Real Genius 1985) comes out and rolls a ruby .. enough said here .. lol
I really enjoyed watching this video from you
Glad you enjoyed it
Would be the IQ Ruby be in Zen range or Fate range or right in between?
Taking my boy’s Varsity to states 1st time in school history tomorrow at jak 60 in Jackson
Good Luck!!
Does that house ever clean the approaches off at the foul line...lol
Love the review!!!
Would this ball be a step up or down from the Revenant? This IQ Ruby looks great but don't know if it fits a gap with the Revenant
Somewhat in the same category. Revenant flares more but is also higher RG. Revenant has a little higher overall hook potential
This ball has him so excited he’s tripping over his words. No choice but to purchase one now. 😂
I think he’s trying to get his oxygen levels up… lol
50% excited / 50% gassed!
My grandpa gave me his burgundy hammer from back in the day. I mentioned this to Ryan before on his channel, but would you want to try it out if I got a way to send it to you?
Your kids are gonna be word class bowlers🎉🎉
From what I can see the IQ Ruby is very angular.
10:36 did Chris take his thumb out of it on that shot? 😂
You caught me! lol Nope!
Can’t tell if Chris likes this ball. 😂
😂
What are those approaches??? They need to clean that gunk up more than once a year! Sheesh
We'll see how long it's in your hand.
Chris drilled a fresh emerald for this video? Pretty baller of him
Lol. I drilled a new one before the season started. My old one had plug and that isn’t allowed in the national tour anymore
Ruby is looking very good
I think so too
This is helpful very
So immature to throw wood around like that instantly on first spare shot.. darn kids!! 😊
I learned it from some younger guys….
How do you compare it to the belmo fate
Fate is stronger cover and stronger core. More ball overall. Ruby will be nice step down I think
@@BeefandBarnzy very useful for when the lanes conditions break down
Come on now. Any good bowler can make the ball look good😏 ruby makes the tnt look like a spare ball
How does this compare to the fate
Little cleaner and less overall
Those approaches look kind of rough 😰
Barnzy would the Fate be between Zen and Ruby?
Yes!
@@BeefandBarnzy I will be ordering a Ruby off your link because of Chris!
My damn emerald cracked. That’s what I get for leaving it in the car on a hot summer day 🤦🏻♂️
This is definitely the closest replacement. Sorry about the emerald though, it sucks when that happens
I'd keep moving left just because of those nasty approaches. Does anyone there clean that up, or is that years of accumulated house shoe-spilled soda-stepped on pepperoni gunk?
Why pin down ?
Possibly to keep it from snapping too hard on the backend.
Pin down on certain symmetrical weight blocks, such as all the IQ's, makes it read the midlane a bit more. Thus smoothing out the backend
@@steveboone1498 pin down balls mean the ball is weaker, therefore retaining energy on the backend, and pin up makes it reed sooner and be overall more ball. For example ive had a few Phase II's, and the first two were standard layouts for me, then I drilled a lot weaker one. I drilled it 1/2” stronger than I usually would and lower to match up with the smaller core. Stronger midlane without crossing as many zones
U know when you're great when every ball looks the same
Or you’re bowling on a house shot! Lol
@@BeefandBarnzy I saw u at Classic Lanes in Greenfield. Ur the man! Been following u for years
Why those approaches so dirty
I'm not impressed with ball! It's weak
It's not designed to be strong. Not every bowling ball is supposed to be the Gem
Get to game 5 in your local city tournament and you will be glad you have it
If you want that "strong looking" ball just get the lower level balls. They snap much harder and are almost too strong compared to stuff like this. Or too weak in heavy oil
@Stomping Peak It's strange isn't it? The "entry level" balls are really strong sometimes. 🤷♂️
A guy had 810 this past Tuesday in my league, I'd say it's strong enough.
