Sharpen your knife well. Wet your knife before cut so that the sample floats on water. Do not use your hands tore move the sample. Kindly use a soft brush to float the samples in water.

Can you please make video on paraffine preparations for microtomy? That would be VERY useful :)

I bought the same, thanks to your suggestion, it's a great product, it gives me excellent results.I believe that in the center of the carrot or potato, a smaller hole can be made, in order to insert another type of smaller vegetable to be examined, I have to do some tests, I am convinced that different solutions can be found.
    Thanks Oliver!

Can you do a video on making paraffin embedded slides? I am really curious to see the results.

there are a lot of other embedding media. Good cuts thinner thar 0,1 mm need embedding but not with carrots, potato etc

Candle wax works fine for me. Tea candles works the best because u can take out the wick easily

Video quality sure has changed over the years. Anyway, I can shave thin enough to see through most tissue using a sharp scalpel. Thickness isn't always even, though

Hi Mr. Microhunter...Congrats for your channel, your videos are very nice, ilustrative and straightforward!. What kind (brand) of manual microtome did you use for this video?. Best Regards Juantxo Gallegomez

There was no brand name attached to it and no documentation. So you have to look for it online and find one that looks the same.

the best microtom is useless when your knife is not sharp, so you better make a video how to sharpen your knife
