I really appreciate the honest truth about these rigs. So many channels never have a negative thing to say about anything. It’s probably why you don’t have 100,000 subs but it’s also why I seek out this channel first when looking for reliable info.
Watching and hearing what the Canyon provides the community on the daily is truly as good as having Christmas mentally on the daily! Thank you! Merry Christmas, Canyon!
I broke my LC80 axle within 5hrs of getting it. I waited 6 weeks for parts. It's on the shelf waiting on a work around for the lights with a Fusion motor installed.
Ive heard people say that if you get a flysky receiver, it will work with the light box. To me the reverse, and turn signals are dumb so I just put in a light controller from amazon and wired the lights right into the magnet. now the lights are either on or off, which is how I like it.
You just inspired me when you mentioned the ssd straight axle conversion for the trx4. I believe that would make for a great rock bouncer gearing 😂 I have the stock ryft electronics sitting too all I'd need is a 5mm 32 pitch pinion and I got a bouncer trx4! Maybe a sway bar too lol.
I have one. The issue with the front body clipping is plastic flexing. You have to hook your finger up under the body and pinch the front down if that makes sense. I’m making this comment from the back of my 80 series Land Cruiser 😬
I resorted to just hammer-fisting the hood to get it to click. I guess they perceived that the problem with the Blazer was... too easy to lock down, too hard to release? Well, I'll take that every time over what we got here. Love it or hate it, Traxxas did clipless the best... again.
I had one in my shopping cart over at the FMS site when they launched, and were 300 bucks. Turns out they only shipped to the US and Canada, so I couldn't buy one. I guess I dodged a bullet. It does look beautiful though.
@Bonitacreekrcs yeah, from what I've seen the 18 is really good. They're too pricey here for me to get one, but it looks nice. I already have a lot of 24s and 18s, so I'll stick with what I have for now. Currently building up a Furitek roller i got cheap, and after that it's time to build my class 3 4ws 24. ☺️
@@Br0rB nice👍 I built a scx24 ultra4 buggy from scratch. I 3d printed the cage,I used meus isokinetic axles and a injora purple viper. It’s rocking some 64mm swamp claws with injora yellow inserts. What’s your favorite mini tire?
It's not like FMS can't make a good stuff, 100%they can. Selling it is a different thing. The balance between scale and capability is not easy to achieve. Trx sport, and badecamp are the kings for a reason. Just got myself a sendero HD, 5 year old design, still a player because scaled enough (nearly) comp crawler. 6 months ago my kid got himself trx high-trail, mud, water, bashing. Two ballbearing gone, all needed a service. Experiencing this, next rig in the house needed to be sampler and reliable. fcx10 K5 tempting but not in K5 body. K5 radio and gears, trx axles, element rc Knightrunner body - that's a trail rig of next year -need to find a sponsor yet ;) Keep the good work. God bless.
I skipped out on buying the K10 because I knew FMS would drop a FCX10 LC80. Thinking they would throw the LC80 body on the K10 chassis like you said. I heard through another RC channel that FMS is going to release a FCX10 LC80 Pro? Maybe that one will have the K10 chassis?
If they had just left it completely alone and put the LC80 on the "normal" FCX10 that's under the K5, all would be right with the world. But they had to go and absolutely ruin it.
Kinda summed up my thoughts too. If you love the LC80, either get this body separately if they sell it, or get the $65 aliexpress hardbody (with better proportions) and put it on a more appropriate chassis.
The FCX10 Blazer is probably the best, most polished thing that FMS has ever released. This one falls back to the performance of the series of Mashigan-railed vehicles. But isn't pretty enough to pull it off.
I’ve got a stock one now. It needs deeper gears badly. I’m hoping a fusion SE/pro will fix that. The clip system seems cool at first, but it kinda sucks if I’m being honest. Overall it’s fun as a trail truck, and for jumps, but overall it needs to be able to be geared way down.
When they "borrowed" from the TRX-4, they should have done the math on the gearing. I do have one rig here with a TRX-4 gearbox and straight axles-- and it runs a 760kv outrunner. Even a 1200SE in this will be a bit brisk in 2nd gear. Class 1 tires will slow it down a bit more. But I would tell anyone to go to 2S. There's really no place for it in 1/10th, where I'd say the average rig weighs 7 pounds. A Traxxas Rustler, built for 2S, weighs around four pounds.
Excellent review. Still went for it coz of my location (India) and we don't really have any options for a large scale RC at a reasonable price. That being said, completely agree with your analysis here. I guess for my usage. Mostly trailing around paths, this should be alright.
@@CrawlerCanyon Cancelled my order with the local dealer. Thanks a million. Please review the brushless one when it comes out soon. It's mentioned on their insta and website.
There isn't a whole lot of aftermarket for FMS 1/10 at all. So... maybe a little? And without it, the straight axle is an absolute dead end, being hyper-proprietary.
You seem to have forgotten something about batteries. This car is so fast because you're running a 3s pack. 3s = 11.1 volts 2s = 7.4 volts. More volts mean more RPM. The mah number only affects run time. Run this on 2s you'll have more control and maybe some low speed trigger feel.
Yes. It would be about 1/3 slower. So only about... 7-8mph in low and 14-15mph in high. The voltage has nothing to do with the absolute lack of gear reduction. You can't just take the portal reduction away from a gearbox that absolutely relies on that reduction-- this is exactly why the SSD portal delete for TRX-4 wasn't exactly a hot seller. 2S and a 1200 would make it slow enough to be usable, but have nowhere near the torque required to hold this 8lb lummox in place. No one put any thought into this "version." They just aggressively shrinkflated it, and called the bug a feature.
Do you think if the donor had put a 1200 in this instead of an 1800, it would have changed your initial and as a result, final impression, of this vehicle?
Not really. That would have slowed it down 33%. I have a TRX-4 on F10 straights, and run it on a 760kv outrunner. It's still a bit fast. The weird stub axles, the all-in-one axle housings, the infuriating body mounting system... there's nothing about the LC80 version that improves at all on the K5 version. They might as well be treated as completely different vehicles. I mean, they somehow got this thing to weigh 8lbs-- so if it were on a 1200 and 2S, bringing the speed to a manageable level, it wouldn't have enough drag brake to hold it in place, nor enough torque to muscle the thing around.
When it's not sold out at FMS it's $110, which isn't bad if you look at comparable bodies-- TRX-4, Vanquish Origins, etc. But-- I haven't been able to find a clear version. Fair RC (which is FMS... I think?) wants $150. It ain't that good.
Axles have a hole where the locker cable goes. Dirt, rocks debris gets inside. Fms should stick to the big 1/7 hardbody rigs. They really lost me with this fcx10 release.
I preordered one when it was released. I got it, drove it one time on the trail. Hit 3 different types of terrain. Didn’t like it at all. It was honestly the very first rtr I’ve ever bought and ran stock. For some reason I just knew. I haven’t driven it again. I don’t want to upgrade it, I don’t want to do anything with it but sell it. I love the body, but everything else just did nothing for me. Such a disappointment and turn off from what I was expecting. No joy, no happiness, nothing. Like a big empty hole.
Yes it's too fast, especially with a fusion1800kv. And yes the body is a bit fiddly in the front to secure until you get the hang of it. But as a trail truck with a good looking body it's really nice. :)
Your one liners about the stupidity of this RC is freaking spot on dude! Like I don’t give a shit about this RC, but next thing you know it’s been 23 min and I’m still watching!! Just to hear you complain about it more!! It is pretty……but that is it apparently!!
The kids today don't even know what an Oldsmobile is. Even my kids, exposed to a "car culture guy" could, in a test format, probably only name maybe a dozen brands. It's getting more and more rare to find any "youths" that care about cars at all. Sad. But I also get it. Cars today... ehh.
I do like the body on it but my 1st truck that was built from random parts is better performing than that, and I hadnt a clue what i was doing. Shame really it loos nice.
They changed the portals to straights from the K5 to this LC80. Why not changing the gearbox too and do it right? Is it that hard for manufacturers to investigate how things work, and how WE want things to work? Mr. C knows better than FMS designers how gear reduction works 🤦♂

I do wish it was just a K10 with a different body though.
The whole time driving it, all I could think was how far they went in the wrong direction-- that LC80 body on a box-stock TRX-4 Sport would have been genuinely good. Hell, just plop it on top of an Element Enduro SE. The only thing it has going for it is the looks.

Is there room to put a 3:1 planetary reducer between the motor and transmission? Maybe swap an outrunner in so the planetary reducer will fit?
