MERGER OF MANIPUR WITH THE INDIAN UNION: The marger agreement of Manipur with the Indian union was signed between the maharaja of Manipur Shri (L) Bodha Chandra Singh and Shri V.P. Menon adviser to the government of India Ministry of States on behalf of the dominion of India on the 21st September,1949 at Shillong,in which the maharaja of Manipur surrendered his territory titles, authority,right and privileges,except his personal properties and religious rites and recieved a sum of Rs.e lakhs per year Thus the sovereignty and independence of Manipur came up to and end on the date the maharaja appends his signature on the historic merger agreement (Annexure - X).the total area of Manipur merger agreement covered was his territory of 700 sq.miles or 26,500 Paris/hectares,not even a single inch of hill areas.

Joyo reported this to me. I told him not to do so and told him to tell the Jubaraj. I remained in my house. I made no special effort to stop the firing… “I was unable to run away on his occasion owing to the firing going on all around. “The guns were fired from the other side of Wangol Pond. “I did nothing except speak to the people.
