Would you go with the same volume as the Evo or slightly less?

      @@lavapix I usually ride around 33.
      I got myself the 58 @ V33 to me...I felt a little less.
I asked one of the FW team riders to try it out and he said it felt more like a 31.
Ended up getting the 59 V34.7. I like it way better.
I usually ride the 5'11 FW SciFi 2.0 V33.8 and paddle into waves no problem.

@@hawaiiansouthshore Thanks for the info. I had a feeling it might feel a tad less than the Evo Helium at the same volume.

Given the Tomo designs are usually meant to be ridden shorter, how would the Revo go for an older, slower guy (Me!) that needs a bit more foam these days? I'm 5'7" and thinking of going 5'10" at 36.6 litres or even maybe the 5'11". I'm worried about the wide point being in in front of my stance and pushing water along with the continuous curve in the rocker.
      What do you think?
      Cheers!

@@spottyone584 for me the board didnt seem to push water...it has a lot of lift. I went a few extra liters more and a few other people that got a little more volume appreciate it.
since floats closer to a Poly that extra foam was ok.
I would go up a little from your normal volume.
      I hope that helps

Is it made out of the same resin? I love my Cymatic but it turned yellow and brown with weird streaks on it. (Still rides like magic) just curious about the discoloration issue with FireWire boards.

epoxy yellows. try to fix it just make a bigger problem. yellow is the spleen colour in t.c.m so there's that ;)

Such a good review! This is the best review so far. Chuy is an excellent surfer, and knows Tomo's board designs very well. His explanation is the same feelings I have when riding this board. Incredible design and tech! This is probably one of the most unique boards designs and tech upgrades that Tomo and Firewire have released since the Vanguard in 2013.

I had the Omni and liked it. The Omni was not as loose as the Cymatic (my favorite). Cymatic is my daily driver in Portugal. I haven’t ridden the Sci Fi 2.0. This Revo looks like a great option to add to my quiver. The new construction sounds good. Will Firewire update the existing models (Sci Fi 2.0, Cymatic, etc..) with the new construction?

Any ideas on how we should size this board? If I'm 6 foot 76kg and my shortboard daily driver short board is 6foot 32L? Do I match the litres? But then the board is really short...

    • @hawaiiansouthshore
      @hawaiiansouthshore  2 года назад

Joey Thanks for checking us out.
      What construction is your board?
Also Your Shortboard daily driver, is it a traditional shortboard(Firewire FRK, Lost Driver), Hydrid (Firewire sci-fi, Lost SubDriver) or wider?
Yes the boards are short but with wide nose board usually go shorter than your regular shortboard.
Wide Round Nose you usually go down around 4"-6" depending on the shape. If a Hybrid you go about 2"-3" shorter.

@@hawaiiansouthshore Thanks David, my daily driver is traditional PU board 6foot 32 L. I think i might have found the answer to my question here ruclips.net/video/fRG7aLT27tQ/видео.html Tomo reckons its ok to match the litres and go a little bit more. So it looks like 5"8' might hit the mark for me, what do you reckon?
Also any ideas on what fins are good on this board? I know i might have to try a few different types but if my regular break has mostly shoulder high waves point break. I keep looking at the future f6 legacy. Fc2 don't have many options...
Thanks in advance for any replies. Because this board isn't a traditional shape its hard to get the fins and size right lol

I am between buying a revo and evo. What would you say is the wave range for each board?

    • @hawaiiansouthshore
      @hawaiiansouthshore  Год назад +1

A few years ago, we had a customer from Maui who called us asking about the Evo.
He was specifically looking for a slightly larger board than what he normally rode.
He mentioned taking it to Indo and surfing it in solid 6-foot Hawaiian size waves, which surprised me.
I later shared this conversation with a former long-time Firewire representative in Hawaii, who confirmed that his friend had surfed the Evo in some pretty solid waves in the country.
Until then, I had believed that the Evo was designed mainly for small waves, as that was how the board was marketed.
Based on that conversation, it seems that the Evo performs really well in small waves, but it can also handle some pretty solid waves.
From the Reviews we had so far the Revo seems to work better in waves that are starting to get into the chest high and bigger.
We have a older surfer who frequents our shop rides all the FW and gets tests some of the prototype FW boards laying about at Kelly's place.
He surfs all the main spots on in country and rips. He has surfed the Revo at Sunset and mentioned that it worked really well in the smaller to medium-sized waves.
Based on reviews from intermediate to professional level surfers, it seems like the Evo handles a much wider range of surf.
I've never ridded the Evo so Im basing all the info from all the reviews we've had. - David

I personally used the KA Front and Carver Rear. I like that combo on my Sci-Fi also. I also used it with the Power Twins and Trailer. I used that set up because one of the test pilots for Slater comes in and gives us advice on different fin set ups and he likes using that on smaller days.

Hey Ronald, I've been riding it with the H4 Quads. Super fast and responsive.
I started using it because a customer was raving about it with the H4.
I've tried it with a few others fins but I like it with the H4 myself also. I usually take this board out when it's chest high and bigger. - David
