      Jason Arnopp's Terrifying House Of Obsession I just checked behind my tv and there is only red white and yellow. Do you think I can still go along with it

    • @jarnopp
      @jarnopp  5 лет назад

      William Hopper I hope so. I mean, my Y/V socket was green but it may as well have been yellow. I should stress that I don’t have any kind of expert knowledge on this topic and only know what’s worked for me. The good thing about this lead is, it’s a relatively cheap risk. 👀

    Found a successful way of connecting VCR to the new 2023 LG TV. I used a Neoteck SCART to HDMI converter. [£16 from AMAZON] The connections are very simple. Make sure you use the correct SCART socket on the VCR unit. The LG recognized the input from the VCR immediately. My video tape collection can now be watched once again. The vision and sound are terrific, even better than when I used my old LG TV. Phew! What a relief. Cheers, and thanks for your suggestion and support.

    So happy to have found this video. I’ve been looking to obtain a VCR player lately as I wanted to revisit the VHS of my youth, ah, the found memories! Anyway, I remembered, even after all these many years, that VCRs connect to the tv via a SCART cable. I was fortunate enough to pick up a VCR for free yesterday and so ordered the SCART-RCA cable(the third option)
    Anyway, the cable arrived today and it was with much excitement that it worked and now the world of VHS viewing has opened up its doors to me again! Oh, the nostalgia!! Thank you for making this video, it was a HUGE HELP!!!

    Hey there! I got a new LD non-smart TV that seems to hate both my VCRs. Tried to connect them through composite, those wires were tested on my DVD just before testing them on both VCRs and the TV wouldn't get any signal from any of my VCRs even through both my VCRs and this new TV have composite connections. Because the composite connection works just fine on my DVD player and both VCRs had the same answer, I figured out this TV might not hate these VCRs. I bought an SCART-HDMI converter which solved the problem and my VCR is finally playable on this new TV.
    I had smart TVs before since 2017 but I never had this problem with my VCR. For those who want to criticise me for keeping them, I have 50 or more old VHS tapes that I grew up with and for NO reason I would throw them away!

    How about RF? Since it is a TV it will obviously have an RF input (it’s where you plug your aerial in) and most VCRs have an RF output. Just buy a double ended antenna wire. (Female on one end and male on the other) connect to the TV then hopefully if you retune your TV it should pick it up as a TV channel. From my experience even modern TVs I have still have an analogue tuner even though it is normally never used.

    None of these would work in my case (no SCARP outlet on the VHS) but I did discover that Coaxial cable works, but blocks some antenna signals, so I have to re-scan the channels when I switch back to regular TV watching. RCA cabels don't work...or I haven't figured out how to get the HDTV to accept them.

    Hi, I am waiting for a new scart lead and jack plugs lead which will arrive tomorrow your 3rd option, think it will be the only way that I will be able to make the connection to my smart TV from my old Panasonic VCR , model number NV-HD600B which has two scart sockets on the back and no jack plugs to speak of, the two that are there I think are only for phono with not a white, red or yellow colour anywhere to be seen. I've had this unit since new but haven't used it for years, still turns on and works though so now hopefully I will be able to view all my old and not so old VHS tapes again. Thank you so much for this video, most other video's show only 3 coloured jack plug to jack plug connections which is totally useless in my case.

    • @keithp1140
      @keithp1140 Год назад +2

      UPDATE TO THE ABOVE. The scart and AV lead arrived as stated above. When all was attached it worked like a dream, I didn't have to mess about changing anything on my LG 42" TV that I have on the living room wall. The scart/AV lead I bought is 5M long to get it from the VCR to the TV behind the fire surround and it only cost me £3.99 on eBay brand new. One thing I was very surprised about was the picture format on screen as I was expecting a square picture, however, all my VHS video's came on full screen without any distortion to the quality whatsoever, therefore, both the picture and sound performed flawlessly from the start. After the first set up from selecting AV on the telly I don't even have to do that each time I want to play a VHS tape as the TV does this automatically when the VCR is switched on. All this now works like a dream and I'm so pleased that I found your video on RUclips. Thank you.

    Here's a challenge - what if you want to hook up a ye olde VCR which doesn't have a SCART connection (or the 3x outputs from option 3) and only RF out and you want it to go, not to a smart TV, but to a projector? I need some kind of RF OUT to HDMI converter, but I can't find anything. There's also a VIDEO OUT connection which has one of those old 'turn to lock' fittings (if you know what I mean). Don't have a clue what they're even called. By the way, to give you an idea of age, it's a Ferguson Videostar.

    • @АрсенийБабенко-е8ю
      @АрсенийБабенко-е8ю 2 года назад

      An “RF to HDMI” (or “RF to VGA” if your projector has a VGA in) will not be a converter, it will be a so-called stand-alone analog TV tuner that was used to watch television on a PC monitor without involving the PC itself. Don’t know if you could buy one nowadays…

    Slight variation on this. I want to connect a Smart TV box like what they used to sell on the discount electric section at the supermarket (the bloke at Computer Exchange reckons an Android box is what I'm thinking of) to the input of a VHS recorder so I can record the smart box's output onto VHS. That way when Doctor Who comes back on in the autunm I can just copy from BBC iPlayer to VHS instead of having to either set the timer or manually switch on and off and the start and end of the live broadcast.

    Here's your fourth method...
    Use a co-axial cable from the UHF/VHF Output socket to the UHF/VHF Input socket on the TV. You then need to tune in the TV.
    This method does work for people but it is a pain having to retune the TV channels each time.
    Personally I use the HDMI output on my Toshiba DVR19DT VHS/DVD combo unit to the TV. I have also got the same SCART to HDMI converter that you have shown to connect a stand-alone VHS to newer TV in the bedroom it works perfectly.

    • @kurtvanderbogarde8402
      @kurtvanderbogarde8402 Год назад

      Most even modern TVs still have the ability to pick up incoming UHF analogue signals. If anything this should work better now than Back In The Day when the frequency range would be cluttered with analogue TV signals. Now there would just be the VHS player and possibly the carrier for all the digital channels (although this might be in a different frequency band - I'm not sure.)

      I tried this and It didn't work I do have the connections and could hear the music but no picture. I then realised and assumed I need an ariel cable between the vcr and TV. I know.....its been 15-20 years since I used one 😂😂. I'm just hoping I don't need to connect an actual ariel to the vcr 🙃

    Hi Jason I watched the 3 methods of connecting the scart to to the the rear of the tv, however, none are suitable for me. My old video's scart has a cable attached at the end which i thought connected to the hdmi on the tv, after much head scratching i noticed what i thought was a hdmi connection is actually marked - " EXT ( RGB) which is definitely NOT a hdmi. Would any subscribers know what type of connection i have, and where i might pick one up? My tv is a Samsung UE32D6530WXXU.

      Elgato produces a four lead dongle that plugs into a USB port on a laptop ( with software one installs) :- 3xRCA plus S-video.
      Red and White are used from the sound outlets on the VHS, with the video image taken from the S-video outlet (for best quality,) or yellow .
