    What an absolutely INFORMATIVE video! Thanks so much...it figures that a dude from Europa would make it....I have been searching YOU TUBE for a video like this. You should congratulate yourself for clarity, brevity and video editing. VERY PROFESSIONAL.

    Thanks Mr.Joost. My most preferred filling mechanism is the "piston filler". I find that very convenient and pens with piston ...hold fair amount of ink convenient for long writing sessions.

      The piston system is a favorte among most of us!

    Thank you, Mr. Joost. May I ask what your preferred filling mechanism is? I am finding the piston filler to be my favourite.

      The piston filler is a preferred system for me, but it also depends on the pen I am using.

    Great video, I’d the vacuum filling system from Visconti, btw what are the pens shown for the vacuum and eye dropper section ?

    • @jankafka7330
      @jankafka7330 5 лет назад +1

      Vacuum is a TWSBI, a Vac mini I believe. The eyedropper looks likes an Opus 88 but I couldn't tell for certain.

    I like the Diplomat converters and the Pelican piston fillers equally well.

    I like my Opus 88 Fantasias with the eye dropper and shut off valve mechanism. I travel a lot so have a large amount of ink in a small pen with air pressure shut off for flying is ideal. Also like piston fillers.

      Opus 88s are great pens and much, much less expensive than Danitrio and other high-end pens with shutoff valves.

    I’ve got or used all these systems with the exception of the eye dropper- never used one of these.

      Well, that might be a good reason for you to get an Opus 88 fountain pen one day!

    Thanks but you need to enlisted the Pilot vinshing and lamy capless fountain Pen s.

    • @AppelboomPennen
      @AppelboomPennen  5 лет назад

      sherin zada the Pilot Vanishing is a cartridge/converter system, which is covered in the video. I am not sure which Lamy you mean with capless, but Lamy uses either cartridge/converter or a piston filling mechanism, which are all covered in the video.

    Please tell me which fountain pen ink best ?

    • @shaunpearson7905
      @shaunpearson7905 5 лет назад

      The kind of ink that works best depends on your pen some pens need dry and some pens need wet ink as every nib even between the same pen will be slightly different, but most of the major manufacturers make good inks that are not damaged to a pen. Waterman, Pelikan/Edelstein, Pilot/Iroshizuku, J. Herbin, Graf von Faber-Castell, Diamine, Caran d'Ache are all fine inks. Personally I avoid ink with particulates, like shimmering inks, because they can clog a pen. Also, I find some manufactures make inks that can be corrosive to parts like sacs - I'll not name names, but some searching on your part will turn up answers.

    my favorite filling system is the lever fill, closely followed by whatever Parker calls the standard squeeze bladder filling system of the 51 and less expensive 21. Eye dropper is my third favorite, even though it holds the most ink, as it can be a bit messy to fill.
    The new fangled Cartridge/Converter (introduced in 1965, if memory serves) is a distant fourth. Expensive cartridges and converters (some of which are proprietary) is the primary reason the cartridge/converter is my least favorite. I haven't had the funds for a piston fill or "modern" vacuum fill pen. Seems I always "need" something else more ...
    I'll probably try those two systems sometime before the 2024 Presidential election. (sure hope there's a candidate that isn't "the lesser of two evils" for a change, who is actually worth voting for ... hasn't been one for several decades ... ☹️

    1) Sheaffer Snorkel
    2) Piston
    3) Vacuum
    4) Lever/Sleeve/Button
    5) Eyedropper
    ...
    116) Cartridge/Converter

      Well number 116 is quite high on your list!;)

    • @shaunpearson7905
      @shaunpearson7905 5 лет назад

      Why, for #116 : D ? Cartridge/converters are beautifully easy to clean. Not a small matter when you have many pens to clean. I'm not familiar with a snorkel filler sounds interesting. I've not tried your #4 neither. I love piston & vacuum - I assume the pneumatic filler in an Armando Simoni Club is similar to a vacuum? I love eye-droppers. They hold so much ink and are very clean to fill. I have a Namiki Emperor and I've not refilled it since I bought it 4 months ago and I use it often. Cheers.

    And yet Waterman and Montblanc cartridges work just fine in any pen that takes standard international cartridges. Seems a little odd, don't you think?
