My dad was a volunteer motorman here back in the 80s, so I spent many weekends there as a kid. This was before the visitors center even existed, and their restrooms were actual outhouses. Still, my sibs and I rode many cars many times, and my brother was allowed to turn the poles around. If we were good, dad would buy us old -style candy in the original gift shop/visitors center.
It sounds like you have some great memories here. We have been several times over the past 20 years. We used to bring our kids for the trolley rides and museum. It is a great place.
