    Hi Manu! Around the 17.35 mark you apologized for the video getting too long in case it was boring us. Please never apologize for this. If people are truly interested in learning the language, this content will NEVER be boring. Keep up the FANTASTIC work you are doing! I hope to one day follow in your footsteps and teach both of my native languages which are Spanish and English. I was blessed to have learned them at the same time from birth because I was born in NY. Love ya!

    It's so strange that 'remember' is reflexive in some languages. The French say 'Je me souvienne' - 'I self-remember'. So do the Germans: 'Ich erinnere mich' - 'I remember-self'. I didn't know the Italians use reflexive 'remember' as well :)) Quite a discovery :)))

    This is a very helpful video! I have two questions:
    1. In the examples where "ci" means "there", can you use "lì" instead of "ci"?
    2. Is "ci mette" (it takes) the same as "ci vuole"?
    Grazie mille!

    • @italymadeeasy
      @italymadeeasy  8 лет назад +3

      Ciao!
      1. Not really. LÌ goes at the end of the sentence, and always after the verb. CI can only (and must) go before the verb!
      See it as LÌ (or LÀ) meaning "over there", rather than just "there"
      2. Yes, exactly!

      Regarding the second question, I'm not sure how you construct the phrases. Is it "ci metto due ore" or "ci mettono due ore"? And "ci volgio due ore" or "ci vogliono due ore"? I guess I'm not sure if I am the subject or the phrases are impersonal and the hours are the subject, as it were. Thanks so much for your great videos!

      We like not to say something more than one time. You will find, sometimes, entire dialogues that the subject is said only once at the beginnig and not said agan. In talian we call it soggetto sottointeso. We know it, our verbs agrees with it, so we do not repeat

Lol.

    Thanks for your videos Manu. I love them, they help me here in Rome! Quick question: if we say "noi ci ricordiamo" for 'we remember', do I also then say "io mi ridordo'? Or is "io ridcordo" ok? Must it be reflexive?

    • @italymadeeasy
      @italymadeeasy  8 лет назад +3

      Sì, "to remember" is reflexive in Italian, so you should say "(io) mi ricordo". Ricordare - non reflexive - does exist. It means "to remind": ricordami di fare la spesa (remind me to buys some groceries). That MI in ricordami is an indirect object pronoun meaning "to me"

    Era un episodio molto utile. Ero confuso per il "ci". Perche ho saputo soltanto due senso di ci = us/to us. Quindi sempre traducevo ci come "us" il che mi resso molto confondere. Adesso capito altri sensi e ce la faccio (invece di posso!) capire un po' meglio. Grazie mille per questo episodio.

    It would be helpful if you would add a direct link to the PDF in the comments below the video. Frequently, when I go to the website, I'm unable to locate the PDF. It always takes a long time to scroll through everything. Your lessons are fantastic. This simple thing would make them even easier to use. Thank you for posting everything you do. Grazie mille!

    Caro Manu, sto studiando la lingua italiana durante 3 anni ed in quel periodo mi sono accorto che l'uso della particella "ci" è molto diverso e non è facile ad usarlo, specie per gli studenti stranieri! (come me essendo ollandese!). La nostra lingua ollandese è germanica mentre la tua italiana è romanica allora entrambe due lingue ci sono molte differenze nella grammatica. Penso che i verbi farcela, avercela, crederci, etc...mi procuranno più problemi che l'uso della particellla "ci" . Grazie per la tua spiegazione chiarmissima. Alla prossima!
