Answer Quiz here: 1. The process of holding the breath is called kumbhak. True/False 2. When does samān neutralize itself? 3. Any sacrifice is meant for the pleasure of ----. 4. To subjugate the unruly mind and senses, some do A. Vikarma B. Prāṇāyām C. Both A & B
This lecture truly resonated with me, Swamiji. The way you illuminated the paradoxical nature of the mind; being our greatest friend when controlled, yet also the architect of endless desires, is so profoundly insightful. It’s like chasing a mirage; we think satisfying one desire will bring contentment, only to find the mind demanding more. Your explanation of how these desires keep us restless really hits home. The key to breaking free from this cycle, as you beautifully articulated through the verses of the Bhagavad Gita, particularly; 🌹🌹"BG 4.29-30: Still others offer as sacrifice the outgoing breath in the incoming breath, while some offer the incoming breath into the outgoing breath. Some arduously practice prāṇāyām and restrain the incoming and outgoing breaths, purely absorbed in the regulation of the life-energy. Yet others curtail their food intake and offer the breath into the life-energy as sacrifice," 🌹🌹 reveals such a powerful path. It's not about brute force suppression of the desires but rather about redirecting that energy. The various forms of sacrifice outlined in these verses, breath control, disciplined intake, all point towards a common theme: the purification of the mind and intellect through conscious action offered to something higher. It's so captivating to learn how 'austerities performed as a sacrifice to the Supreme' is not about self-punishment or suffering but a powerful transformation of our inner world. It's a process of refining our thoughts, feelings, and desires through that divine connection. It truly is a journey of self-discovery. Your gentle guidance has gifted so much clarity. This teaching is a beacon of hope, revealing the tools to calm our restless minds and embark on the path of inner peace, something I know we all deeply yearn for. Thank you so much, Swami Ji, for sharing this divine knowledge. Your teachings are a true blessing, and I am deeply grateful for them. My humble pranam at your lotus feet. Radhey Radhey 🌹🌹
The examples are good for making an impact but we should not take it literally. Its true that we get busy making a living. This is from the region of responsibility and fear. We don''t want to leave room for error. We want to be sure that we are in a position to earn. The fear of failure is gripping. The heart starts beating fast. The intellect decides that i don''t have time for Satsang and i couch on the laptop. Frozen in fear. Trying to do something productive. Then i realize the next day or after a few days, that going to Sat-sang would have made me stay calm and more focused. Sadhana is not a waste of time.
Distance yourself from pleasures of senses and relish the real pleasure of devine love which will uplift you ..this is the powerful way to calm your restless mind.... thankyou guruji for the enlightenment
These lectures are so important that listening to them just once isn't enough! One must remember this time and again to survive on this planet! Radhe Radhe namaste 🙏✨
I'm watching this for the second time I've watched it in the past and left a like but unfortunately i don't remember this but now after listening to this profound wisdom i wonder how could i forget this.. Now i think i can actually feel the depth! Radhe Radhe 🙏♥️
Thank you, Swamiji. I was one of those who lived with the aim of getting the good things in life. I was never happy, until I understood that the meaning of life is to seek God and serve humanity.🙏🙏🙏
i have started to listen 4 days ago from start and today i completed all of this really amazed by the gurujii eagerly waiting for all the chapters please complete this as soon as possible
Didn't understand...what is so wrong in seeking pleasure out of simple things like eating ice cream, wearing good clothes , having fun with friends in a decent manner...so long as it is not harming anyone why should GOD have any objections to it...and a person enjoying all these simple pleasures of life can do service and sacrifice in addition....why deriving happiness out of wordly pleasures is so much looked down upon in spirituality....both can co exist...they need not be mutually exclusive...a simple minded person enjoying happiness from wordly pleasures can have great devotion to GOD in addition....kindly explain...not clear
Seeking pleasure from simple things is acceptable as long as it doesn't harm ourselves or others. Swamiji just quotes them as examples and he doesn't mean them exactly. He gives us simple examples to understand that we should not desire for unwanted/unnecessary things. Hope this makes sense. Thanks.
It's not inherently "wrong" or "bad" to seek and enjoy simple worldly pleasures, it is, in fact, the first of the four objectives of human life (kama). The message Swamiji is trying to convey is that we souls should ultimately realize that such temporary pleasures will never bring us eternal happiness, and the more we mindlessly engage/indulge in them, the more our senses and mind will crave for and become attached to them, which would pose as a huge obstacle on our spiritual path to liberation (moksha). He's not really telling us what to do with our lives (that we have the free will to decide for ourselves), he's just giving us advice and guidance on what we should do if spiritual liberation is what we aim for.
Plus, we should realize that the more we choose to "spoil" our body, senses, and mind with all kinds of material enjoyment, the more difficult they'll be to please, control, and discipline. How would we be able to serve God as pure devotees then, when our instruments of worship are contaminated by earthly desires and energies? Not to say, they are also extremely vulnerable to evil, demoniac forces since it is easy for the body/mind to fall into the trap of ignoring and disregarding dharma (God's moral laws and principles) just to get its next "dopamine and adrenaline high".

Here Swamiji also means that we should not desire for anything that takes our mind away from God.
