@@kflemonice I'm not sure I can explain well via text but if you listen to the original it is in 7/4, a pretty unique time signature. It definitely contributes to the really hypnotic vibe of the song. The cover is in 4/4 so it just loses some of the unique charm of the original which is a bummer to me.
I love how it's just the one theme but it seamlessly changes depending on what's happening. It's basically a 4 minute loop but you can play for hours and not get sick of it.
It's the same theme for hours with some variation for what you are doing, but it never, ever gets old. It's the dictionary definition of evergreen music.
Might be my single favorite video game track ever. I listen to it while doing school work, programming, household chores, etc. There's just something so meditative about it but rhythmically interesting enough to keep me focused
I've played this game for over 50 hours and still haven't gotten tired of the background music even though it's basically just one track with minor variations. That's an incredible achievement!
Sometimes less is more. I feel like Balatro as a whole is a statement, that you don't need millions of dollars, hundreds of employees to create a masterpiece. The pure definition of indie game. And the funniest thing is, the Dev didn't make this game to make profit. That was something he was passionate about
Hey they made "the way you compute tonight" work in the 2022 orchestra. If they could make a song like that into a orchestra masterpiece I'm sure they'll fit this song in it perfect
I think it’ll fit perfectly, in fact I think a saxophone to replace the main synth would work really well, they could go for a whole jazz cover kind of feel.
I know that realistically Balatro won't win GOTY, but not only does the game get more recognition but we also get to hear the orchestra play this already masterpiece of a soundtrack and I'm all for it
This game is peak psychedelic vibes and the music helps TONS with that. Could listen to it for hours. The boss blind theme is so oddly menacing and the moment the blind is defeated, the music change is soo relieving. Masterfully made, great job!
On the boss blind I'm pretty sure it's that background organ sound (at least I think that's what the sound is going for) that makes it more tense/menacing. It does its job so well

It's a very chill tension, but it's there
@@user-eg6fl6lr7e That's a good way of explaining it. To me it's more of a waltz where my ears separate the full 7/4 bar into a 4/4 bar and a 3/4 so it flows between the two.
