I would say Presonus chose a weird frequency response for this microphone. I liked it for rhythm guitar even tho it has the wrong curve for that, it suits your guitar/speaker nicely there. Wouldn't buy the mic myself but enjoyed the review, excellent as always.
Any chance you could do a guitar recording techniques video? the guitar part in all your videos always sounds great and I tend to have trouble finding a sound I'm satisfied with.
Thank you for this review! been thinking of getting this with a set but I think I might go with the one with mxl or maybe just the samson g track pro since I only need an interface and a decent mic. What do you think?
3 Years ago I bought the Presonus Audio Box Bundle, came with the Mic, Interface, Pop Filter, and two decent studio-grade monitor speakers, etc. all for 300 flat. It still holds up pretty well. If you know how to treat a room/Soundproof around your mic, along with mix vocals down, This mic isn't that bad.
I had this microphone. I bought a Presonus Audiobox USB interface in 2012. Bundled with it were this M7 and the Presonus HD7 headphones. I immediately recognized the HD7 headphones as rebranded Superlux HD681. I took a look at the Superlux microphone offerings and found the HO-8, which looks identical to this M7.
@@cashrufus24 It doesn't suck, but it isn't particularly good either. If I were shopping for a microphone, I would pass on it. I gave mine away to our local community radio station (where I am a member) nine years ago. It's still in daily use there. With the processing for FM radio we have in place, it does the job quite well.
I'd just recently been considering the PreSonus M7 as a standalone purchase (for video calls) and there weren't many reviews... now I know not to buy it.
This microphone looks like the 3 same Samson USB microphones that came out like 7 or 8 years use. I have the Samson C01U it is way to heavy IMO. I am using a Tonor BM-700 it has really good audio but it picks up any sound with 5 to 6 ft from the microphone and you can hear just a little through the microphone.
Could you please suggest me an affordable mic using USB for cello student who takes online lessons and I need one mic for recording and sending to my teacher. There are sooooo many types I do not which one. PLS help me out... Thank you in advance if you can hear me
I've regretted all PreSonus hardware I've ever purchased, especially the studio monitors, which are fraught with noise issues. I love using Studio One, but I don't understand why they keep putting out these physical products that are so bad.
My first and last time buying presonus was an audio interface. It had signal issues right out of the box from sweetwater. Sweetwater being the badasses they are swapped it for another one. The second one came and overheated 2 days after use ! Sweetwater then told me that they apologized and instead sent me a scarlett interface instead and accepted both of the presonus interfaces back and they paid for shipping.
@@bassyey I know that lots of people in my field LOVE studio one, but it just doesn't play nice with my system. I absolutely love Audition, but monthly fee... gross. I still have the 2008 version and that serves well.
Do you like the sound of it? Do you need it? If you just want to buy it because it seems like a good deal, I'd advise against that because that's how sales trick ya. But if you need it and you find the sound acceptable and the downsides of the mic acceptable for $15, then yeah.
What is it with Presonus? Noisy interfaces, sad microphones, glitchy software. gack. I would add, two mics that come in cheaper I can think of immediately absolutely destroy that mic. Neat worker bee 2 or Mackie EM91-C.
All true.. Especially the plastic build. haha.. And yes it's made in China, but it's not a bad quality 'made in China' product. It's made for stationary use only. Not robust enough for stage use. For me, it's been decent.. I've recorded many VOs with this mic, and it has paid the bills. Yes, post processing and edits also helped.. But as a 'clean' signal goes, in a fairly ok room, it will do the job. Good price, great for all levels. For the pros, it's just another addition to your capture arsenal without breaking the bank. The cheap blue xlr cable that came with it, is also, *surprise surprise*, still working after many years. ^ ^
Yeah, I won't be running down the street bug-eyed waving my debit card in wild anticipation and banging the music store door down to purchase this one.
I don't understand why Presonus and Tascam who make such quality recording systems realeased mics that are below par. A few extra bucks on the quality and you'd think "Hey what a bundle!" It is almost as if they released products because they thought they should but weren't expecting anything from it. Just tick the box. Presonus and Tascam, you are better than that. Having said that I do like my PD70.
"It functions" is Bandrew's nice way of saying "it sucks". But yeah it does make you sound like your nose is plugged up. Might as well save $50 and get the Neewer.
In the year 2023, and, really, in the last 10 years barring some basic considerations, there are no bad microphones. There's never been a time when price point matters as little as it does now. The price / quality correlation started disappearing with the advent of the USB microphone, and it just doesn't exist anymore. Pretty much anything you buy from a reputable seller like Sweetwater or Sam Ash, or take your pick, really; is going to have noise specs that are well below the human hearing threshold, More than adequate frequency response, etc. This extends even further into pretty much all audio tech. No serious advancements in things like compressor or preamp or especially tube technology have been made in like 40+ years. The circuits are all common knowledge in the electronics community and really easy to replicate. My point is gear just isn't the limiting factor with any of y'all The limiting factor I'm sorry to say, is you It's not the mic that sucks, You suck. The audio equipment industry runs pretty much exclusively on expectation bias. Stop participating in it buy some gear and start recording. Simple as that
Presonus is a Mixer company, not a Microphone company. It is like getting tacos at a Chinese restaurant. M7 needs to go back to the drawing board. Come back when you are M10. That should do it. I agree with you Bandrew. This Mic is a pass on it.
To each their own. That’s why I include the samples; so you can hear the microphone and make up your own mind about the performance and agree or disagree with me.
I've seen several guys using this saying things like "Look what you can do with this $70 mic. You don't need to go out and buy (insert brand name here) to sound great." Yeah well, it sounds like ground up petrified ass.
I mean I can understand the mentality to a certain extent. If this is the mic you have, then use it and work to make it sound better. But for $30, you’d save yourself a bunch of headaches with the AT2020.
Danke! Hey Bandrew 🎧Well, this mic isn't even worth the 70 $. Voice sounded dull, and e-guitar wasn't exciting but distorted in a bad manner. Acoustic guitar sounded simply flat. Anyone who might consider this mic because of its price should either go for the really cheap 20 $ Behringer or just support this channel.
Thank you so much Rainer, I appreciate the support on this one so much. I agree, there are much better options available at this price point or lower that will serve them far better.
Don't buy an equipment just because of the name. Do a lot of research for different microphones online. Watch some RUclips videos of different microphones if there is one. Of course, if a RUclipsr does a comparison video by putting one microphone in the left channel and another microphone in the right channel, forget about the content creator. That's like assigning the headset microphone to the left speaker and shotgun microphone to the right speaker. To my ears, it sounded "out of phase." Don't do it. Just alternate between two microphones while in mono and the listeners will then be able to make informed purchasing decisions. And yes, proper microphone technique is important as well. I can tell you about microphone techniques, but that is beyond the scope of my comment. So hopefully I can be of much help to everyone. Good luck on your first or next purchase of your microphone.

Oh, it uses the same body as the Marantz PodPack1 Mic. Now the question is, if the circuitry is the same.
Please test the Yotto USB Microphone (the cheapest one) for about 20-30$

i cant find a good budget microphone review from podcastage
During the whole audio comparison, it's written Presonus P7 instead of M7 ... Sorry :p
There’s always a mistake in my videos. It’s a law of the universe at this point.
If Bandrew says it’s P7, then it’s Presonus that is wrong.
You are forgiven for noticing that! :)
Kinda wish you could review every thing I wanna buy one day lol
I wish I could as well. It's fun running stuff through its paces. Thanks for watching.
The build of this mic reminds me of the Shure Sm27. Any plans to review that mic?
Can you make a review video about rode X xdm 100 please
I don’t have an XDM100 yet so I won’t be reviewing it anytime soon. Thanks for the recommendation though.
I have this mic sitting around and I am just wondering if I could used it to mic the KICK out head without breaking it, anyone knows?
