A Hindu Buddhist? Very interesting. I'm relatively new to to Eastern spirituality and I love it. I'll be committed to it forever. I like your combination and had not considered putting the 2 together. The exclusivity hammered on by another system (we know which one professes the "one true God") isn't easy to eliminate from one's thinking. Their indoctrination is powerful and very "cultish." You have opened my eyes a little more. Thank you.

@@dougewald243 I donot konw, if you you know about Hindu system of Guru- ism. Each and every hindu as per religion has to choose a religious teacher or Guru. I am not a scholar but a son of Indian soil . Therefore, I can understand hindu culture without any study. I feel, Buddhism started as a Guru following, with Gautam Buddha as the Guru or religious teacher. The term "Hinduism " didnot exist at that time. Religion was meant by word " "Dharma" or Dhamma meaning perfect way or method of living. Lord Gautam Buddha devised his method of living which was so widely accepted by people of india , kings of India and other countries with very large population following it that it became a separate religion . But still there is a unity at the root. You can feel it by observing how India and Indian gave shelter with extreme honour to His highness Dalai Lama, the Tibetan Buddhist head defying Chinese red eyes. The matter is not political. It is due to internal true bond. More unity points you can discover by studying Buddhist Mantras for example ," OM MONI PODMEHOM" meaning a craving for uniting self with ultimate and supreme consciousness through meditation. The word "OM" is common in both Hinduism having deep meaning and Lord Gautama Buddha has been meditating for centuries after centuries to show people the method of self improvement as the team leader by linking self but going above self connecting with supreme consciousness for achieving the peaceful way of living ( Yoga) . "Thanks for giving attention.

The Sūtra this mantra comes from is the Kāraṇḍavyūha Sūtra, which was as far as we know originally written in Sanskrit. Pāli is mainly the language of the Theravāda tradition which the Kāraṇḍavyūha Sūtra is not in. The Mahāyāna Sūtras were mainly found in Sanskrit, some central Asian languages and various Prakrit.

That's not sanskrit, it's Prakrit.. Sanskrit was the language of Brahmin (teacher) and Prakrit was for common man. Today this Prakrit language is known as Pali Language.
