BRICK SHITHOUSE- by Placebo PLEASE!!!!!
Wow! Didn’t expect a Walkmen react this morning, but I’m not disappointed! One of the most under appreciated bands ever. “The Rat” is a bit heavier than their usual, but they have some incredibly powerful songs. Try “I Lost You,” “In the New Year,” or “Blue as Your Blood” next. Amazing band!!
Coldplay vibes? I nearly punched my iPad screen at that insult! Walkmem are steak, Coldplay are celery 😂
Hahaha, same!!
This song sets the hook first time. And never get old.
Getting Coldplay vibes is a terrible take but what an absolute banger of a song
I dont think he meant it like that. It's the way the music makes every hair on your body stand up.
@@BanditTheBandito ageee with that assessment however Coldplay havnt got many that would do that to you but each to there own music is subjective and that’s why we all love different genres one song might do that for you but do nothing for me
I think it was more to Hamilton's appearance in the video looking similar to Chris Martin. I can see it!
Yeah, I laughed. The Clash maybe
@@shakey215 I was gonna say I think it’s literally because they look alike. And I don’t even listen to coldplay.
I remember when I first moved out of my parents' house and I went to a nightclub in the city I moved to. I was sat in the corner and I heard this playing...
and it's weird but I remember feeling a sense of victory when I heard this, a feeling that upon hearing this it was the rest of my life.
To this day when I feel down I put this on and realise that I have vanquished whatever problems I had.
My favorite band from the 2000s! They are still great live after being on break for like 10 years.
Love the Walkmen and Hamilton Leithauser’s solo stuff, incredibly under rated. For a similar era bands of this sound and feeling, I’d suggest checking out Cold War Kids “Hang Me Up To Dry” and TV On The Radio “Wolf Like Me”
"wolf like me" on Letterman, Interpol - Obstacle 1 on Jimmy Kimmel, or Editors - Munich at Glastonbury 2023🤙
The bridge lyrics resonate - "When I used to go out, I would know everyone that I saw,
Now I go out alone if I go out at all".
The Walkmen are fantastic, but I do feel like The Rat is nearly singular in their early catalog in terms of energy and aggression of delivery, particularly of the vocals. For me, the two closest to it in terms of heavier, driving energy would be Heartbreaker and The Witch from their 2012 album. Many of their other tracks have a smoother and more throwback 60’s rock style and laconic vocal delivery, which is not a knock on them at all, as many of those other songs are equally fantastic in their own way and unique to sounds other bands of the time were putting out there. My other personal highlights from their first decade would be We’ve Been Had, Another One Goes By, Woe Is Me, Lisbon, Song For Leigh, and Heaven.
Great song. For whatever reason, made me think you might dig Cold War Kids. Different sound, same era. Try their single “Hang me up to dry”. Curious what you think
This tune is a banger.
Perhaps my favourite single ever ❤
Gotta give it up for the Coldplay pushups comment. Brilliant
Great band.this drummer is a beast
This is an all time classic. Still never gets old. The drumming is hands down amazing!!! Well, the whole song is.
Their most explosive moment on an absolute classic album. I like their slower stuff even more than this... but this is fire.
This song is like watching a great Scorsese movie in less than five minutes.
Love The Walkmen. I think you would also enjoy the Hamilton Leithauser (the lead singer) solo records, the first of which features the same drummer, Matt Barrick.
Also: They are back on tour for the first time in over a decade, so maybe check them out if they come play near you!
In the New Year next man, sick reaction!
PS don't let the low views get in the way we all know this band was so good
While i hear the connection you're making making when you say "Coldplay vibes", The Walken are so much more than that. Coldplay wishes they were as raw as this
man. .you are so impressed for this band, i felt the same 15 years ago when I saw the video the fist time!! the best!
I thought it was around the same time as Strokes,Kings of Leon etc..I loved The Doves from that period
Arctic monkeys, shins, muse , Radiohead, all started with a more aggressive sound compared to them now, but Coldplay….
I remember when this came out , such a good song
One of my favoritest favoritest songs ever. From one of my favoritest bands
"Louisiana" is a great song too by the Walkmen. I do concurr with one of the commenters that you would also like the band Broken Social Scene.
This really cool , powerfull , ill be hearing more from these cat's ❤
Encantado con tu reacción siendo tan reciente, y ver y leer la cantidad de comentarios que tiene tu reacción me hace pensar que la gente sigue queriendo a the walkmen... definitivamente es me encanta.. saludos
God bless it, I can’t get to u…. The tragically hip, many songs, locked in the trunk of a car. Or ahead by a century, I could go on
Weird a reaction channel I watch reacts to a band I went to high school with. I knew all these guys in high school, they were 2 classes ahead of me at St. Albans school in DC lol. Fun fact. These guys and Damian Kulash the lead singer of OK GO all went to my school at the same time. Damian was in my class. From 7th grade to graduation. Also VP Al Gore is a grad.
2000’s had a little indie renaissance that was short lived
Oh wow, now that's a song I don't see many people react to. One the best Indie Rock tracks ever imo.
This track is a BEAST
The intensity, the tension , what an electric fire! Wake me up.
I remember when I first heard this song on MTV back in the day, instantly loving it and knowing I was going to buy the Album at the first opportunity. The Rat remains in contention for my favourite track of all time alongside other classics like Dreaming of You by The Coral & Slight Return by The Bluetones.
Great tune, love to see it reacted to
Great track.
Listen to Thinking of a Dream by them 😉
It's from the 2000s , all the awesome bands had the in their name , the strokes , the kings. Of Leon, the hives. I.e
The sums and the led zeppelins
Whoa time machine back to college! Forgot about this one.
Truly one of the best bands ever
****Interpol - Obstacle 1 and PDA Must be your next reviews... then Broken Social Scene - Cause=Time. I promise you will Love both!!****
Oooooh yeah great choices
Those two songs by Interpol never get reviewed /reacted to, and they are two of the top five songs of that decade, if not the top two
@@jeffridgeway7474 Exactly... tell this guy something! He needs to know.......
I’ve always felt that The Walkmen were the most ‘clever’ band I listened to. Love them
YES!
TUNE!🏴☠
****In addition to Interpol and Broken Social Scene... I'd like to add "As Tall As Lions"!!! to the Mix... All three are More appealing than The Walkmen! Try As Tall As Lions- Stab City its amazing!****
Walkman were/are highly under-rated. Glad you found them! Enjoy !!
Never heard of the band but I like it 🔥
The walkmen in the new year live
Maybe one of the best songs ever written
Pure angst. 💚🙏
**coldplay vibes in a good way lol
NOW YER COOKING WITH GAS POLO!!!!!!!
The song that keeps on songing
You're gonna be doing 37 in a 30 in the 4Runner on this one!
lead singer of coldplay.. lol, no way man.... not even close
Nice
Polo, if you like this, you should listen to Reptilia by The Strokes.
I never really thought of that comparison, but I love both songs
Coldplay aren't fit to lick the boots of the Walkmen..
Why was guitar music dropped so suddenly by the labels 15 years ago... Its strange
Agreed, punk rock cold play
If you like this, check out Quiet Little Voices by We Were Promised Jetpacks
I agree with previous commenters, I think you would love hang me up to cry by cold play!!!! To be honest I think you’d love the whole album robbers and cowards but i think hang me up to dry would get views!!
Digging into my Spotify playlists now ?
This is a fantastic song, but, not entirely representative of their sound. Speaking of, you should definitely react to, “On the Water“. It’s a very different vibe, very somber and powerful in its own way.
They sound like Coldplay,......also like U2.
Never heard of them. Sounds hectic.
Great song by a great band, however, it's not representative of their overall sound as someone else mentioned. They usually sound a lot less frenetic than this. They're from an era where the music scene exploded with bands (that began in the late 90s) trying to sound like bands that came before. Some might view this as a bad thing...as derivative, but it was an amazing time to be alive and of age. I went to so so many shows. These bands helped to reinvigorate rock music which had grown stale with rap rock and nu-metal. For me, the indie rock scene is the only reason I'm even aware of the awesome bands they were inspired by. I wouldn't have heard of bands like Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, New Order, Television, Bauhaus, The Chameleons, The Sound, Echo & the Bunnymen, Gang of Four, Cocteau Twins, Pixies, etc. if not for bands like Interpol, The Strokes, The Walkmen, Liars, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I mean, I could really go on and on (if you couldn't already tell 😅). Yes, there are better bands, but that can be said for any band really and I still think their music stands on its own and up to the test of time.
Comparing the Walkmen to Coldplay is like comparing MF Doom to Will Smith. Just insulting. At least you liked it.
I kind of understand why he said Coldplay vibes. BUT Coldplay couldn’t write this and perform it in the way The Walkman has created it.
I got one for u , the virgnmarys , motherless land
ruclips.net/video/QXXvE8okcFA/видео.html
Coldplay vibes…huh?
Lost me at Coldplay vibes
Compare the walk to to coldplay🙈
So i didnt see you do a reaction to this man... my bold claim... how ronald jenkees was on the keys andy mckee is to the guitar. Please listen to either Rylynn or Drifting. Confident youll listen to the other after you hear one of them. Back me up on this people.
The Animals meets Joy Division meets Arctic Monkeys
now go wash your mouth out for the Coldplay remark 😜
Coldplay is a derivative of good music
****Saw these guys Live in New Orleans.... small venue of less than 200 people, outside of this song... they were not that impressive! If this is what you like then You Must experience Broken Social Scene and Interpol... Both are way more successful with this type of sound... The Walkmen lucked out with this one hit, sorry to say. But Interpol and Broken Social Scene are both worth your time!!****
Saw them at Hob San Diego . There were thirty people there on a Monday night!!! I will never forget. The crowds grew with each album. The secret was out.
test
Nothing like Coldplay absolutely nothing
Coldplay? What's wrong with you?
Great song horrible title.
Coldplay vibes? WTAF? Good fckg grief. Stopped watching at that point...
Ahhhhhh! Turn it off
Sorry, but if I can't hear the bass not a fan.
A poor man's version of The Strokes. And the Strokes are a poor man's version of The White Stripes or Modest Mouse. Walkmen are enough to please a niche in an era but nowhere close to the level of timeless. So many sound a like bands in this dumbed down genre where anyone could be in a band. They aren't bad don't get me wrong, they just bring zero to the table. Queens of the Stone Age kills this, And if you need proof just listen to the strokes song "last night". It's dang near the same song. 3 chord banging with distortion to hide horrible singing voice
I'd take walkmen over strokes any day of the week.. The Strokes were more concerned with their look than their music.. Style over substance..
Yeah each to their own... I'd take this over any modest mouse or white stripes tune, it's a banger
Walkmen over strokes and up there with modest mouse. Heaven was a mint album as was You & Me.
Plus QOTSA are a totally different band (one that i love btw)
coldlplay? Nope not even close.
Crappy Interpol
