Watching these creations brings such wonderful feelings out in me. Like silent poetry in motion. Thank you, Mr. Jansen. I needed this right now. We all do.
They're more "wormlike" than scary. Just a bunch of dumb sticks crawling around like a giant bug. Can't scream with a Martian voice and apparently can't even move fast enough to charge enemy lines.
@@colbyboucher6391 : Except most people didn't think "oh, it's mechanical" because that simply wasn't a concept in their world. It's not that they were stupid; it's you retroactively applying a mindset common today to a time before science really had a hold on the public. Anything unnatural - which these clearly are - moving on it's own would have been absolutely unnerving. The braver or curious would approach to try and understand but most would have thought something unholy was happening and ran.
I'll be quite honest. I'd be kinda freaked out if I saw one of these things just slowly moseying towards me on the beach with absolutely nobody else around. They look like they're some sort of alien jetsam that just decided to bring itself over here and say hello.
Imagine these being scaled up to gigantic proportion using modern indestructible materials. The hair on my whole body are standing up just imagining the grandiose sight of these incredible structures. There should be a world expo for these sort of work.
C'est absolument fantastique !!! Ca semble au départ de l'animation étonnamment bien faite, mais non, c'est bien du réel. Une conception vraiment géniale

Sarò onesta. L'ammirazione arriva "dopo". Di primo acchito incutono, in me, in po di ansia. Immaginatevi essere su una spiaggia e vedere questi "marchingegni" che vi vengono incontro. Sembrano esseri di un altro pianeta. O ragni enormi! 😧.. Io temo I ragni 😩😩😩

a thousand years ago these things would scare the shit out of any superstitious sailor or soldier, effectively stopping invading armies :)

Don’t say that word it’s bad
When art, craftsmanship and ideas reign supreme. Simply brilliant, especially if it's real

from what i understand they're not exactly slow, more like a jog pace.
I’d be freaked out until I realized what they were, then I’d just follow them around d:
Now imagine it coming at you full speed when the wind gets really crazy

I liked the one from 2017, put to classical music. This music just doesn't do the trick.
God forgive me! I believe there is more poetry in Theo Jansen's creatures than in those He made!
