Spot on Lester. Problem for golf manufacturers is the only way to sell product is to market something as “longer” or “straighter”. My irons are 10 years old and are staying put! Have a great new year and good luck with the channel in 2025.
Yes and another thing...love a good rant and particularly about iron lofts and golf balls, but the 33 option hosel really is ridiculous. Thanks for all the great content this year and keep it up in 2025!!
Happy New Year Bernie! Always enjoy the content. You’re absolutely right about the loft sleeve. If the shaft is pured, you have to be able to make adjustments without changing the relationship between the the spine and the head. Here’s another rant for ya: WTH aren’t shaft manufacturers pouring the shafts in the factory before applying the label?
Loving the Toolbox wars on the wall. How you’ve got all the tools drawn for the correct positions, but with totally other tools in there places! This is class 😂 love it! Albeit messing with my OCD slightly 😂😂😂😂
Many good points, Lester, my recommendation to all would be to put a new set of grips on your current clubs, and the money saved, put towards your membership that's also going through the roof!!!! There'll be a time when thoughs with limited budgets will have to make very serious decisions! Loved your Xmas shorties. Happy New year to you and all your subscribers.
Well said Lester, you hit the nail on the head, l was recently told paying £529 plus an upgraded shaft at £250 would make me hurt 3 yards further, l think l’ll stick to my 917 that l had fitted 7 years ago.
I've got a pair of foot joys about five years old , before the winter comes I apply Dubbin to them twice and then polish them and they touch wood so far again this year are still giving me dry feet 🦶🦶
The emotion is palpable!! Any idea where I can buy a half decent, consistent driver swing? Needless to say my money is going on lessons and hours on the range. Happy and healthy New Year to you and yours Bernie 🎉
Was Santa not very nice to you this year Bernie😉 Totally agree with your comments on gear when it comes down to the average club golfer. Anyway, happy new year to you for 2025!
2025. Finally had a moment to watch this and loved it!! So many reviewers have shown that new clubs do not go further. They aren’t allowed to. They can get more forgiving, but most golfers don’t need new clubs more than every five years or more unless they just want new clubs because it’s fun! Lofts on the irons is what I’ve said for years! Agree that the grip not facing the right way when you adjust a shaft sleeve is super annoying! One other thing, the club covers for new woods are total garbage! Who designed those things?! Cheers Lester!
You are right about the head covers for woods Tyler! One of my my playing partners has put his old wood head cover on his new driver as his new one is falling apart and that’s the second one he’s had!
2025 looks like another year I won’t be buying a new club. Except possibly a new putter that I will still miss with. I will however replace one of my wedges as one of them is looking a bit worn. Nice to see an honest review 😎 I hope you and your family have a Happy and safe New Year 🥳🥳🥳
Love a good Bernie’s rant, however the Titleist true fit adapter also lets the shaft remain in the same place while changing loft and lie etc.. my mate is a cranked lofter, he’s got Cobras and when I got my Titleist T150s last year loved to tell me how short I was hitting it, until I measured his wedge at 41’ loft which was stronger than my 9 iron. He then wondered why he had a massive gap between that and his Vokeys, happy new year Bernie.. 💥💥💥
All very good points Bernie 👍 The only real advancement is in the zero torque putters and even that's been done before with the Odyssey toe up! Most of its marketing BS just to keep the wheels of industry turning. Happy New Year 🎉
2025. Cracking video Lester. You forgot shoes. Every new pair of shoes has a different mechanism for holding the cleat so you end up with cleats left over that don't fit any of the shoes you have. Did anyone mention you were punching above your weight with your GF, she's deffo a keeper Bernie 😁😁😁😁😁
Get them told Bernie😂. Completely agree with everything there. I fell foul of the arcos sensors in the grip thing years ago when I purchased new irons. Hated the feel. Ditched them and arcos after a year especially when they emailed me and wanted ridiculous money to renew the subscription. Got a shot scope watch and screw in tags, much better and barely misses a shot unlike arcos. Happy New Year
Ha ha, lofts on irons. Completely agree. I play with a chap who reckons he’s 2 clubs longer than me. I looked his lofts up, his 7 iron is my 5 iron…. He didn’t much like it when i pointed that out.
Good video Lester, i never see the point with buying new driver or irons as i no my game is not quite there for these “new” designs and same with a ball, i just want a ball that can avoid water, trees and the rough 😂 happy 2025 (new year) mate
Great video would be better if the companies tried to get the equipment cheaper to increase participation than ripping us off we so called better stuff. Happy New year and have a great 2025
Loved it! Being a high handicap golfer I can’t tell the difference between any of these “premium “golf balls. I do draw the line at a donnay special titanium! Coming close to £4 a ball it gets expensive I can put any ball straight out of bounds off the first at my club straight into the driving range “FORE RIGHT” Looking forward to seeing more great content from you in “2025” Unfortunately Golf companies, like all business are just looking to make more profit. They are snake oil salesmen selling the golfing public the dream. It’s shiny, new and bound to be better!! Dan and his white 5 wood must really p*ss them off
Bernie, you are totally correct. It’s marketing to get people part with their hard earned money! There is very little benefit of getting a new driver for the standard golfer. Carry on the good work. 👍⚒⚒⚒
Steady on Lester, wait until drivers get to at least £1000 before golfers realise that they would be better spending some money on lessons to improve their ball striking....as for balls, most pros don't pay for balls so why not use the most expensive ones and I'm proud to say my 7 iron has 34 Deg of loft....na na na na na... Happy New Year Lester........... 🌟🎊🤩🥳
2025. Whoa, Bernie, too much coffee? Lol. I reluctantly accepted Ping's move years ago to add a gap wedge because of loft jacking, but finally had enough when the G430s necessitated a second gap wedge. Marketing, schmarketing...
Totally agree but the manufacturers need to keep selling products to survive. I think we have now reached the tipping point of diminished returns. Surely it would be better to sell three products at £300 each than one at £500? We all like new equipment but the prices are just out of reach for most me included.
Absolutely correct got a pair of FJ's and they are waterlogged a couple of holes into my round ! Wear lightweight hiking /trainer shoes now on course ! ( don't ever mention this 😂) Crazy !
If you are fitted for a driver then the grip issue falls away because you shouldn’t need to change the position. Granted it doesn’t solve the problem buying second hand but too many amateurs tinker with the sleeve without any idea of what they are trying to achieve. Happy new year by the way!
Well hello Mr Grumpy 🤣You did most of that without drawing breath....but it was all true regretably, as the golf companies are taking us all for mugs Happy and healthy New Year to you and your family.
I wish that golf manufacturers would make sleeves on drivers/woods where you can change the loft without f*#$^*g with the lie. With my Mizuno driver I needed more loft, now everything goes left. I know that Callaway, Titleist and now Cobra have that feature, but most companies don't. LOVE your rants!! 100% agree on new golf balls!!
Tell it like it is Bernie, I’m sure I’m not alone in being happy to adapt to my various ailments with my existing clubs but I guess this stuff isn’t aimed at me. Happy New Year.
The loft on irons has to come! Wedges led the way - sand, lob and gap are so last century. 4 through 9 should go the same way. Happy and healthy 2025 Lester. Keep on ranting!
You go for it Bernie I agree with everything you’ve said in this video because you are spot on mate. The only thing I will say is personally I don’t think titleist is the best ball and I know lots of people will agree with you. But like most golf products are far to expensive
Well done Bernie you are so right and each year the price goes up by £50 or more really getting fed up i should be hitting the ball 300 yards . i will keep my old driver lessons are more help ....😅😅😅😮
Decent and fair rant. Always smacks of ‘Emperor’s New Clothes’ with the yearly new tech announcements, and would the average golfer recognise the changes out on the course and get value for their money? 2025
100% with you on the loft jacking 👍some with 27 deg 7i, mate that's not a 7i it's a 5i with 7 stamped on the bottom, oh and good luck holding the green with no spin ⛳
Just tell it as it is Bernie. Shame none of the companies will take the blind bit of notice 😂 all the best for 25. Hope to meet you on a bus tour this year.
Most amateurs won't see any benefit from a premium ball because if you aren't striking it consistently from the middle, it doesn't matter what ball you use.
I’m still using the TaylorMade original Sim’s driver. A consistent f/w finder and hit it just as long as most my age. Of course we’re all geezers so no one is hitting it real long. Thank god for senior tees.😅
Bernie what you say is so true, you are an expert in the golf domaine, so they should listen to you. The problem is, they are there to sell their brand. Happy N ew Year
Loft jacking is a total con and people get very excited about the number on the club… just call them by their degrees of loft… if I recall… hogan irons do this! Happy new year
Go Bernie, go Bernie. 100% truthful rant. I will challenge any normal player, anywhere, to do a blind test with ProV1 balls, from 2025, 2024, and 2023, and prove one is better than the other, further than the other, etc. A Tour Pro might, just might, tell the difference, but, even then, not so sure. Enjoyed your content in 2024, keep up the great work.

You are right David! I’ve always bought last years models.

I love a good rant John! 😂 I’m going to try all 33 options on that driver 😂
Super rant! I play trad lofts and honestly hate that strong loft shite.
Happy new Year
I’m not a massive fan of them Steve.
I agree with everything you say Bernie - happy New Year to you, and I look forward to more content 🙂
Happy New year Geoff! Thanks for the support.

Thanks Mark. Needed to be said.

I can feel a new series for 2025 coming up. Bernie's Beef! 😂 Totally agree on the smart grips and lofts, Lester. Merry Christmas.

100% with you on the loft jacking 👍some with 27 deg 7i, mate that's not a 7i it's a 5i with 7 stamped on the bottom, oh and good luck holding the green with no spin ⛳
