  • Spinzilla is a global event where teams and individuals compete to see who can spin the most yarn in a week! The rural weavers of Huancarani, Bolivia, have been spinning yarn by hand for their entire lives and are now fighting to maintain the traditions that have characterized their isolated communities as more and more rural Bolivians migrate to the city. May this be the beginning of a movement to honor and respect the skills and talents of the aging weavers and to motivate younger generations to carry on the ancient Andean textile tradition.

This is great! Such talented long draw spinners! It’s fun to see them spinning with the sheep in the background. Goals! The meat drying on the line reminds me of our time in Oaxaca.

Looks like spinning wool. Wondered of people who keep alpacas, how they prep the alpaca fiber (if different with Suri) and what they make it into for themselves. Someone gave me part of alpaca shearing and it seems can be spun fine or thick but then is very heavy. Seems good for raingear? Thank you for your video

If they grew more trees they could cut out a lot of the wind and grow a wider variety of species.
Little fences or mulch piles around seedlings to help keep the alpacas and sheep from over grazing.
