  • We are moving right along on this backyard transformation and starting to get the roof built over top of the deck. You'll see how we set our ridge rafter, how we figure out the rafter length and how we get them installed. We are also moving on to installation of the deck boards and starting to build our outdoor kitchen on the open section of deck. This mega deck project is really starting to come together!

    Can you do a more in depth explanation into rafters that includes HAP/heel height when determining ridge height? Or at least mention that it's an important part of the process? Might keep some DIY'ers from having to buy some extra rafter stock once they catch their error

    • @THEpremieroutdoor
      @THEpremieroutdoor  Год назад +1

      I was trying to just explain finding rafter length and hopefully not make it too complicated, but knowing your HAP is also very important. Hopefully no one tries to cut their own rafters based on that little 1 minute clip alone lol

      Next rafter video though I’ll dive in deeper and explain some more of the details!

    Amazing! Any concern with walls spreading over time not having rafter ties or anything tying the top plate together?

    • @THEpremieroutdoor
      @THEpremieroutdoor  Год назад

      Thanks a lot!! We do have collar ties going in here, but our architect didn’t spec any rafter ties in the lower third of the triangle

    Why would you drill for a drain in the floor joist? This weakens the integrity of the support. Why not use PVC hangers/clamps on the bottom?

    • @THEpremieroutdoor
      @THEpremieroutdoor  Год назад

      We needed every inch of elevation to keep this a gravity drain and not add a pump, the joists are oversized in this location anyway
