SUMMARY: The badge doesn't speed up the shooters shot and it doesn't affect the the coverage % directly. What it does is it affects how the coverage % impacts your shot contest and this is under the hood so it doesn't reflect on the coverage % displayed but definitely still works. As expected though, the boost won't be enough to be seen visually on a small green window.

Sounds like it changes the likelihood of full whites going when players have higher shooting attributes.

@@docsmileey3335then you’re a moron, it’s the same exact thing as intimidator from previous 2k’s. It doesn’t make the coverage number bigger it just decreases the chance of them making that contested shot, which a lot of them go in in this game.
I’ll be honest you’ve been wrong a lot of times this year. Challenger matters a lot, at recovering from a distance to challenge + the animations you get for hands up contests
I believe that Challenger changes the range and quickness that you can close out on a shooter.
I close out quicker and from farther away on gold than on silver.
the next logical test would be this: chart the make % of the shots against the different badge levels of challenger. this will show the type of effect the badge has on shot make %.

it gives better contest animation, when you flick the right stick up to contest, not only shot but layups in paint also. Its definitly for better animations. Sometimes the guy just goes into shot/layup with 2 hands holding together. Its a very good badge but good to know that doesnt effect green or shot timing atall. Thx Tutes.
I definitely notice a difference from no badge to silver challenger ! I always take these test with a grain of salt anyways but this can be misleading if players take your word for it instead of experiencing it first hand against real opponents. Challenger definitely not useless IMO

It definitely isn’t! I have a build with gold and one with no challenger. And it’s a difference when playing up close defense, they can’t shoot in your face, have had players even air ball. Compare to no badge they can splash in your face.
Maybe you don’t understand those tests my friend. Let me help keeping it simple for you this video going over the challenger badge from HOF vs No Badges. I don’t believe his going over your perimeter defense
May be obvious but the Challenger Badge works better with longer wingspan. What it does is give you better contest animations. I can only have it on bronze and due to my wingspan and prolly vertical I can leap/lunge towards the shot taker for a better contest and most often times a block. So even if you have HOF challenger if your short and don’t have a long wingspan you prolly not getting the best out it’s use.
Absolutely. Especially in 23 and prior games. This year it doesn't matter if you have long arms and have this badge on bronze and if your perimeter d is low. You ofc will get better contests in general because of the wingspan but the badge level and attributes will result you in getting Foul called on you if you gamble by jumping and don't actually get the block. First year I've actually seen attributes actually matter. The game has potential for next year. Still a shitty product for now.
@@RyuSukuna Yeah I get that often, I have a 6’11 7’9 wingspan SF and I’d say 6/10 ima block the shot but if I’m late arriving then I have more likely chance of getting a foul
My player is 6'8 with 7'5 wingspan 80 vertical HOF challenger and i be flying to contest shots even if im not near them i get so high i jump high and covered a lot
I have it on HOF, and I can tell you that it works tremendously as long as you are defensively in the right position. I'm better than most at locking up shooters, so skill is involved and needed, but if you can play defense responsibly and properly, the challenger badge is fantastic and should be a must have, especially after the last patch. Muhfuccas have been hitting more 3's since then. Shooting is easier.
Nah thats not my experience, it def gives you better faster contests in certain situations. This is one of the many things that a few test runs in blacktop just doesnt give you useful data really that can accurately compare to online play. A good example is it helps you get out of a crab animation. Not every time but it def helps with it. I think it is also a counter to offensive badges like deadeye and blinders. Low per def and no challenger, you def get crap contests on closeouts esp in the corner online. Some of these things, you just have to play the game to figure out. This badge does exactly what it did last year and it is def good, there is no choice to put it on or not anyway so just have decent per def and you have the badge anyway.
It does not I have a bill with silver and I have this building with gold they I don't notice the difference I'm about to make a builder bronze just to see if I do notice
@@TheRealMRGG85 again its not every time, all any of these badges do is increase the chances of good shit happening. Ill start saving clips of this and make a video on it with real online game play. I think i made video on it last year and never posted it. Cant remember, last yr my main PG had it on HOF and it worked all the time baiting guys out of the crab. I currently have builds with gold and silver, its hard to tell the diff so far between them agreed. I have only played a few days with silver so far tho. I have several clips of gold saving my ass in a crab tho. They are just burried in a heap of clips now!!
Alright found my old vid from last year on challenger, i did NOT post it and dont plan on doing so but i got it as unlisted now so see if this link works for anyone curious. Ill make another one this year showing challenger absolutely fucking people up again. My PG last year was so good, jesus. Wild lookin back at what we could make last year. Tutes can you test weight with clamps badge. Determining if weight has a factor on the animation.

can you do 25 block vs 99 block in raising hand up "with flicking right stick up", when defending a jumpshot?
Exactly what I was looking for too. Made 2 locks with 25 block rating. Wondering if it's even worth putting up. Lately, people just started hitting over 50% contested shots on me & now I'm rattled. Like if I go higher block, will it even make a difference.
For context, I played for the #4 ranked in team pro-am season 1. It's not like I'm playing rec or park with randoms. Just yesterday, I had a league game and I had the pg shooting 8/20. Of the 8, he hit 4 60% contested shots.
So guys you know how people now don’t get sped up from Defense your going to want challenger to just stop it from going in, the badge basically just stops contested greens from going in

I think it gives you better contest animations because on my pure lock with hof challenger then on my build with silver challenger

Because of the current patch with shooting does this mean you’re going to test this again when they change shooting back to what it was before ?
Can you make a video on how to defend backdowns? Even with high strength and badges, I get backed down easily. It's like my player isn't trying to stop the backdown.

I don’t use perimeter defense on guards or bigs an I do find trust me skip perimeter an go with strength instead thank me later I have gold immovable forcer an ppl are clamped I tested this out early on took hrs to run test you will save attribute points so you can put it some where else

Hey Tutes, I know you already tested the Bulldozer badge but one thing I can’t help but wonder is if height affects the animations you get. For example will a 6’8” build with hof bulldozer get better push offs and animations than a 6’5” build. I’m not 100% certain of it yet but it seems like the taller u are (even if same strength and other attributes) the better contact animations u get. Would love to see this part of a test like that if u can. Don’t think it would be too tough to test. I might try to do one myself but idk if it’ll be as accurate as urs
It doesn’t matter your height, what matters is the height difference between you & your defender. But yeah a 6’8 is more likely to get better animations because of that
I get push offs often I’m 6”6 pg who plays skinny ass point gods all the time & I know how and when to use it
Bulldozer paired with physical handles is fantastic. I get to the paint/rim 80% of the time. My average FG% is over 70%
And I'm just a casual who is average offensively in the game. I'm great at locking up shooters and diming, but now I average 15 points per game as the 3rd option to score in most games because I'm still not good enough to be the leading point getter. But at least now I can contribute at both ends of the floor. I could share my build with people who would like to see it, I'm no content creator, but I'm convinced I have probably the best 6'8 build in the game. I have one as a pure perimeter lock with great driving dunks and layups and 80 3 ball. And my other is a pure perimeter lock and offensive paint beast. I'm destroying people in REC and I promise I'm just an average player. For those of you who are really good at the game, you will do extremely well with my builds.
Yeah this is what i was talking about. Cause I can make a 6’6” build with HoF bulldozer that is way faster and better at dribbling than my 6’8” bulldozer build with 92 strength, but idk if I will suffer more with contact animations cause of the lower height.
What’s your strength? And what I was more worried about is being able to push off taller defenders. I have a 6’8” bulldozer build with 92 strength and gold bulldozer but I was thinking of making a 6’6” build that is faster and better at dribbling and also gets 96 strength for HoF bulldozer
Me going from 2 different builds with silver challenger to one with none ... There is definitely a difference in coverage for real. If I don't jump the shots are saying open. 😭
can you test if challenger on hof causes more miss shots than with no badge? rn, it's sounding like we should believe 2K that the badge is working as intended but what if it's bugged.

random unrelated question. Is it worth doing team practices this year? All you get is goat points but its literally only like 5 points which isn't worth the time. Anybody know if there is anything special you might get after doing a certain amount?
You also get to pick which badges you work on in practice. So if there's a badge you want to keep high, but you don't use it a ton in game, team practice is a good place to maintain/improve the badge level.

Tbh it’s good on silver or gold don’t push to hall of fame I did that last year and to me it wasn’t a noticeable difference. If you play good defense and your hands is up while he is shooting 99 percent of the time they will miss. So really no point going all the way up. I got it on Bronze this year it’s good but I think silver is the sweet spot for it. If you’re a lock down gold is enough. Especially in this 2k when people already miss a lot there is really no need for hall of fame unless you want to be a lockdown.
I just said that it doesn't affect the Challenge % directly and doesn't speed up shots and what it actually does is affect the green window. I even defended the badge if that if ever you don't see a visual difference of green window, it's normal because window is too small to notice but i believe it's boosting your defense under the hood ( as mentioned on the video)

2k dev needs to fix they game. Ball handling is op for no reason. They make miss shots even when you wide open. They make you stand still often when playing defense. And to make it more worse they will literally force you into screens, make not let you put your hands up, force you to make bad decisions. I know that this game is hard or whatever but winning and losing matters and it sucks that I got to be put on the losing end just because the game forces you to lose and not on your volition.
I agree with some of your statements but how are you being forced to lose? If you have low pick dodger and low strength against a big with gold brick wall and high strength, you should get bodied. I don’t get sucked into screens because I don’t move so much, to slide through let go of turbo and L2 and you slide through no issue. I also have 92 strength and silver pick dodger. Miss shots are a rating thing, get some takeover up, have a higher three pointer. If the game let you hit every wide open we would go back to a three hunting game that forces one main scorer. This new game forces you to pass the ball to get out of your shooting slump. Comp teams now have multiple people scoring vs the guard dropping 50. Play it like actual basketball, not like previous 2ks

Could tell in first week that the badge was trash. Got it on hall of fame, and hardly pops up.
If you have it at HoF then I pops up... there's no way to get it to HoF if it didn't pop.

@ghostedskillz5612 I play next Gen, and that's how I farm badges on new builds. Played about 1000 games in the city. Just speaking on what I notice while playing. Compared to past 2ks it doesn't pop up nowhere the same
