      Bit of a fun fact: the reason why Gacharic Spin had dancers in the first place was because Hana, the ostensible “frontwoman” was stuck behind the drum kit, and she and the rest of the band wanted a performer up front. So they had choreographed dancers, not entirely unlike the two younger girls from Babymetal. By now though, the dancer/performer/singer role is well entrenched in their sound and aesthetic. So while Hana is up front now as singer and rhythm guitar, they still have the secondary singer/dancer

    About them leaving in screw ups... kinda their signature. Way back on delicious maybe eight minutes in during lost angel Oreo is down going nuts with the dancers and when the song ends she runs across the stage to get back to her keyboards but trips over some equipment and goes down hard. This was their end of year concert and full video with prob a dozen cameras going. Any other band would have cut that fall out. Not gacharic spin. They show it, replay it, show a second angle, show a third angle, do thirty seconds of other people performing and then catch Oreo coming back to the keyboards with a sheepish grin on her face...
    Also Oreo screws up later when they are doing their line play and Hana takes off her sandal whacks Oreo in the back of the head...
    Priceless...

    Best Gacharic Spin line-up since the original one IMHO. Perfect balance. The original line-up was present bassist (Koga), guitarist (Tomo-Zo) and lead singer (Hana, that you previously seen as drummer) with singer Armmy, who left two years later (and died in mysterious circonstances some years ago - Gachapin story ain't an easy one). To replace Arrmy, they found Oreo (keys), and shared the vocals. Now, Hana has switched from drums to guitar and lead singing; the adorable Yuri is drumming (she's killer) and they found a lil' nuclear plant called Angie (Angelina 1/3) for dancing, rapping and more and more singing (often) the Armmy songs. I watch their 11th anniversary online concert some days ago and it was G.R.E.A.T. They're in my top 3 japanese bands.

      Tomo-Zo is not a founding member. The original line-up was Koga, Hana, Armmy and Eita. After a few concerts on their first tour, Eita left the band.
      Oreo's band Eu Phoria, in which Tomo-Zo was guitarist, has just split up. So Tomo-Zo could start at Gacharic Spin straight away.
      Oreo supported the band with Keybord at concerts in 2010 and 2011. After Armmy left the band, she became a member.

    This band has a long and complicated history. What you see here is their 6th formation, if I've counted correctly, and I'm not 100% sold on it yet. It's always fun and high energy though and I'd love to see them live. Their record company has recently released a lot of their older MVs from behind RUclips's paywall, so plenty for you to get stuck into. I do wish they'd push the guitar up a little in the mix though as it can get lost with everything else they've got going on. They have addressed it a bit on their most recent album and they have reworked some older material to feature more guitar. Just helps give them a fuller sound, IMO.

    The blue-haired drummer/vocalist, Hana is now vocalist/guitarist. She is the main composer/arranger of the band. And also, she can play drums/guitar/bass/Aerophone(kind of electric sax). Hideki Aoyama who plays drums for Baby Metal was highschool class mate with Hana and the bassist Koga. Hana played bass for the former band "

    So the backstory of the switching vocals. There used to have a main singer, Armmy, but she was sick and never showed up, so they had to let her go. A couple of months later she died and they decided to not have a main vocalists and switch around between and during the songs.

      After Armmy was let go just before a tour started (for illness-related absences) the band used several fill-in vocalists. One of them was Oreo who was immediately hired as a singer/keyboardist and another was Fuki who had so much fun with the band that they all recorded an album together as Doll$Boxx. They never found a permanent singer-only vocalist so the decided to split vocals between Hana and Oreo, with Tomo-zo on a few songs.

    So you’ve got the skinny on the lineup. They’ve always gone for youth. Formed 2009 at 20-23, when they lost their singer 2yrs later, sang from behind kit n keys for a cycle, did doll$boxx, then in 2013 hired 2 15yrolds! One of them made it til age 22, then they got 17yr old pink haired Angie (there was another extremely talented teen keyboardist dancer singer along the way). At some point (2015 I spose) they just took to calling it their “17yr old power” source.
    They are completely honest about the flaws, the screeching, the tracks. One big production (Cinderella) has a rave prerecorded intro, and Hana playing guitar to drum track. And her guitar was Completely out of tune (like half down instead of drop D). When they finally killed the tracks she didn’t know whether to cry, or knock out the tech. But they played it again and it made the dvd
    DBoxx: Merrily High Go Round MV (best guitar solo ever), Dragonet live (ending drum solo optional)
    Gacharic Spin: My very Own Cinderella MV(in a creepy way?, with interesting costumes), or brand new Gold Dash MV(danceable, yet count the time changes?!!!, like Rush)

    • @donkorte80
      @donkorte80 3 года назад

      The out of tune guitar was a bit. Tomo was supposed to be jealous of Hana also playing the guitar and so sabotaged it. She confesses to koga and and bends forward and down as if offering to have her head chopped off in punishment. Plus it was common knowledge that IRL tomo was usually the one playing practical jokes.

  • @donkorte80
    @donkorte80 3 года назад +2

    Actually the bass player is tone deaf so she’s only coming in when the music says”everyone yell””.”
    Btw...those light sticks a big deal when the girls started ten years ago. All the girls had a signature color and their fans would wave the particular color for their favorite. At this point everyone just brings white or hana’s color blue.
