Nearly finished my belt /sander combo after viewing your excellent video. my drums are slightly larger diametre 4".The difficulty I have is that everything here is metric, my drills etc are imperial and as far as bearing recesses and holes for shafts, it's a case of "never the twain shall meet".Good quality tools, or indeed most tools we need are in short supply and limited availability.Thank you for your videos.
thank you thank you thank you. This is by far the best and simplest instructions for building a belt sander. I've already built a vertical belt sander and disk sander but wanted to make one of these without the disk. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to copy your design because its the best!!!!!!
Now that you have a new shop, have you considered adding a cheap Harbor Freight MIG welder and remaking some of the parts for your sander? You could also use delrin to make new pulleys. Just a thought.
Looks good! I should do my disc mount properly, like you did... I went with a double thickness of melamine, but it wobbles a bit on the shaft... Looking forward to part two!
Preston Justin, looking forward to watching you finish your sander. You are a very innovative woodworker. Will you have plans available for sale? Also, I would be very interested in seeing how you built your crosscut sled, it looks pretty slick. Thank you
Thank you for this wonderful achievement. You have provided us with your information. It is possible to include the map in measurements so that we can work one like it
Paul Gendron there are no dimensions or instructions, that's why it's free. You have to pull the dimensions yourself using the tape measure tool in Sketchup.
Thanks Justin for your response. I was poking around in SketchUp, calling myself a novice would be a compliment, and found dimension tool. It's pretty neat. So I'll get the dims from there. Thanks again for your reply. When the weather warms up a bit I'll start the build. Regards, Paul
Oh yeah, I forgot and you are a mechanic too, cool. I am a retired Auto Tech worked on computer systems on American made vehicles and I still tinker around with my vehicles but everything has changed so much since I retired in 2003.
Hello Justin.Actually it's a copy of your design but with my dimensions and I didn't use ply as the ply that is available whilst not being expensive is of low quality so I used what timber I had available, albeit very hard wood.
Hi justin Liked your tool what you call "cross cut sled" (checked your vids, you have no vids to cover this at all?) when I seearched RUclips for "cross cut sled" it only give vids for cross cut sleds for TABLE saw. yours looks very practical and obviously works! (just like you I have no table saw), Would appreciate it (as would others) if you made a vid (+ plans/measures) to make this tool. This would be really cool! as I don't plan to get a table saw soon.
Good evening, I ask if you can have the measures of the details to build Belt sander combo, I write from Italy, I like the combo and I would farlo..attendo an answer, thanks and greetings .
hello good evening, it will be that you have to pass me the measurements of how fopi done everything watch the videos most needed of the measurements if you can

The sawdust maker. David. Great to hear you are building your own! Is it similar to this one or your own design?
I really like your circular saw with dust collection. Can you please post a video, or just give a idea and show us?
Your videos are very fun to watch. You're very creative. I wish I had the know-how to do even the smallest of things that you do. You inspire me!
That's great to hear! Thanks for the comment.
Good job Justin, I really like your design and ingenuity.
Kevin Geaney thanks Kevin!

+mcorrade glad I could help! Build away!

Very good
I like this design. Might use it when i build mine. Bookmarked!

If I learned one thing it's that connecting things to shafts is difficult, and I'm better off buying the parts instead of making them.
Preston

Yes I'll have plans when it's finished. I may make a video in the future on the cross cut sled. Thanks for watching!

I can't find the exploded view either.
Look like a great project. I can't wait to start it.

Great work and design. Thanks for sharing
nice build I am going to try a 3 speed direct drive blower motor to speed up the belt or slow it down..
Just found your channel Good honest woodworking mistakes an all Thanks you should have more subs
Appreciate it Michael!

Why not make marks for varying degrees instead of a stop on the belt sander?
I found the 3D sketch up but I can't find the dimensions for the parts. Am I missing something?
es usted un experto mi amigo
love your work :-) One small comment, when using a hacksaw, use two hands.

Bryn Noble there are several videos out there already. Search for "circular saw cross cut jig"
Could you have used your drill press as a lathe or your chuck couldn't fit the shaft?
It wouldn't fit the 1/2 inch shaft. I don't think it would have had enough speed and power to be an effective lathe either.
Awesome build! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for watching!
Have you done a cross cut sled build video? I don't have a table saw, but I do have a circular saw and I like how your sled works, thx.
+JessVideoDude I don't have a video. Check out some of the other sled videos on RUclips, that's how I got the idea to build mine.
How many watts is the Electric motor?
Good evening, I ask if you can have the measures of the details to build Belt sander combo, I write from Italy, I like the combo and I would farlo..attendo an answer, thanks and greetings .
Hi, I will eventually put the Sketchup file on my website for download

Will you be making the plans available?
Yes, eventually. They are not done yet.

+Phillip A. Rudolph thanks Phillip!
what is the rpm of your motor? is it ok if i use a 1/2hp induction motor with 1680 rpm?
alvinto22 mine is 1750rpm. 1680 would work just fine.
Justin Depew thanks a lot.. im planning to build this one also.. great design thanks for sharing.. 😊
alvinto22 do send a picture when you're done!
What is it and where you bought the piece in 5:35? Thanks...
Marcus Vinicius Bernardo it is a v-belt pulley and I got it from ebay.
Thank you so much.
Congratulations on your hands health
What make is your drill press
Craftsman 12"
Nice! What make and model is your drill press and did it come with the laser?
William York Its a craftsman 12" drill press, and yes it came with a laser but I rarely use it.

You can find measurements in the sketchup file on my website
