- While speaking at a press conference in Tel Aviv on Wednesday, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said he is opposed to Israel establishing military control over the Gaza Strip if the war is brought to an end.
Gallant’s comments come after Netanyahu said any discussion on preparations concerning who rules Gaza after the war was just “empty talk” as long as Hamas remains in Gaza.

I agree that this is true. Importantly, if the free and sovereign State of Palestine decided to invade Israel, then that would be seen as an act of aggression and Israel could retaliate; as could the State of Palestine retaliate, if Israel invaded.
Right now, the Occupied Palestine Territories are resisting Israeli occupation. Resistance to occupation is legal, under the Geneva Convention. (Though, I think that there would be limits to what kinds of military resistance are legal?)
I would hope that the UN; representing every country in the world, has no intention of recognising any attempted military rule of Gaza, by Israel? Even the US has indicated that it plans to recognise the State of Palestine. Military rule would just represent an even worse continuation of the occupation, that is already illegal, according to legal advice to the ICJ.

None of the Arab states want to either, why would the Israelis? Their population has been driven out of the North of Israel for the last 8 months (occupied territory) by Hisbollah fighters because their citizens don’t feel safe. Just try to occupy Gaza if you can.

It's not surprising that Gaza would be destroyed as Hamas perpetrated a genocide, then went and hid there, having already spent years and billions prepping it as a terrorist enclave. It's simply a logical statement that Gaza would be destroyed in the ensuing war, particularly with all those tunnels under the buildings to destroy.
I'm not surprised if a few somewhat extreme things were said either following a massacre of 1200 people and kidnapping of 250 others... Palestinians are very lucky this is the modern age and they're attacking a 1st world democracy, or there would be a true genocide (that's what would have been the response for most of human history).
I don't think Israel have committed to a firm plan for Gaza at all so far (might be wrong), though I'd consider it largely inconsequential at this point (that's for after as many hostages are freed as can be).

300k Israeli soldiers amassed on the border at the start of the war, 7m ago. If we assume 90pc of them went off on a picnic and only 10pc entered, that leaves 30k. If we assume every death in Gaza for the duration of the war was a result of small arms fire, rather than bombs dropped on terrorists (with collateral damage), those 30k Israeli soldiers would have to each have killed about 1 person in 7 months to roughly match the death toll.
Meanwhile, 15 yo Ethan Crumbley killed 4 people with a handgun in the USA recently within less than an hour. Just a handgun, no assault rifle, no military training. It is objectively absurd and dishonest to suggest that the Israelis are engaged in any kind of massacre.

Back in reality, what he really wants is to avoid the Israelis having to preside over yet another failed Arab state... (just like all the current Arab states don't want to go anywhere near Gaza). Nobody wants the Palestinians, they started a civil war in Jordan and were also involved in Lebanon's civil war. Egypt has very publicly been building another layer of walls to keep them out.
