One thing that bothers me about Dark Elves at present - aside from the current iteration of the Slave system - is the fact that they don't have access to elven colonies any more. Likely an oversight, but it still needs fixing.
what do elven Colonies do? it's been a hot minute since i've played any elf factions.

@@ut1f70fsin9 I get that they have neglected their code for years and years and now its such rats nest that they cant make any significant changes without screwing everything up. As they explained in a blog past a while back.. like it was some acceptable reason for not fixing bugs. But that should be CA's problem to fix or preferably have the proficiency to have managed their code appropriately, and not just use it as an excuse they can roll out as to why nothing is ever... ever fixed.

Legend is a fucking legend. Doing things for the good of the community with no money gained on his part. Honestly he deserves a commission off it, but this just shows how much he cares about the TWW community!
For real. I've kind of lost a bit of respect for some of the other Warhammer Total War RUclipsrs, because some of them have been trying to openly justify the insanely high price of this dlc, and kinda low key trashing those who have problems with the price....
But Legend is looking at it from an actually, non-boot licking point of view. Openly stating that he wants the game to succeed, but he doesn't feel that supporting CA at every choice they make is necessarily the best way to go about it.
Because if CA makes bad decisions....it turns off other people from wanting to try the game. And whereas other RUclipsrs will be too afraid to criticize CA's monetization models or poor choices....Legend will not shy away from openly criticizing them on areas that other RUclipsrs clearly are afraid.
And that's a huge reason why Legend is infinitely more trustworthy than a great deal other RUclipsrs who cover this game....and try to give us the most absurd reason why we need to just be quiet and consume bad policies

obviously without clairty the gameplay video total war put on youtube looks like the old druchi system which I wish would just come back. you could make absolute bank off one province back in the day as long as you were fighting enemies now dark elves feel like any other faction except for a lazy mechanic holding them back

The lack of 'fuckers' at the end of a vid in recent weeks has surprised me.
I actually love this too, grew extremely tired of the grumpy legend at the start of WH3 but watching him actually try to be as useful as he can while trying to lessen the impact of CAs mess-ups is heartwarming.
I mean this DLC anouncement is a marketing disaster (hiding and not addressing price increases and the slave system tends to do that...) but I absolutely adore the maturity with which Legend has tackled it: "CA is messing up, again, let's try, as the biggest TW youtuber, to lessen the impact that this will have on the community". Really can't speak words enough to actually convey how much I like this mindset. Here's hoping that, like with the petition, this only brings us all together more.
To be honest, I was kinda caught out by his good nature at the end of the video. He didnt bide me "cya fkrs!" , I'm like .. 0.o where is legend and who is this nice guy?

As for Lokhir, even if his campaign wasn't the most fun i'd still play it because his voicelines are such a delight!
Lokhir is fun simply for him, he carries his own campaign, his was my fave in TWW2 of all the DE lords
I played Lokhir a few weeks ago and it was one of my favourite campaigns in TWWH3, the black ark system of recruitment is great, cathay is perfectly designed seemingly for Lokhir to thrive, and the sea lanes make for so much freedom of movement. 10/10. I'm loving the campaign reviews Legend, and thanks for keeping your eye out for good deals, I'm going to hold off for either something irresistible, or until you are able to offer some thoughts on the DLC - if not, then other creators' opinions :)
I mentioned this on the Morathi video, but one of my biggest gripes with Lokhir and the new slave system is the landmark building in Karond Kar. I know most people seem to think that any of the decisions you make between confederating or getting a stack of cash is a trap and you're better off with the cash. But playing as Lokhir, Rakarth, Malus, etc. I always take the city because it feels more thematic to me, and I love collecting Landmarks around the map. That being said, the old Slavemaster's Palaces landmark in Karond Kar made it a very profitable slave province. I don't recall the exact numbers, but it felt good to hold and build it. The new one is pathetic, the bonus it provides is weaker than the generic building that does the same thing. Sure, now you can have two in one city, but it doesn't feel special.
Dude I had to pause the video and write this. Thank you for doing such a thing for your community! The discount is huge and really few creators would walk away from a commission to allow for even larger discount for their viewers. Thank you again for being awesome!
We all appreciate you going out of the way to get a deal for the DLC - thanks again for looking out for the community. I don't know about others, but I do not planning on buying any DLC until the game itself is all sorted out in regards to bugs and balancing and whatnot. Just like the previous titles, it does take time for them to get up to the level we expect, so I'm certainly in no rush.
Since I recently started a beastmen campaign I would love to see Malagor and the boys reviewed.

Just a small thing, the sound in this video sounds kinda distorded and metallic, I don't think it was like this in the last guides.

When I saw the price I really thought they surprised us by making it a Chaos Dwarf vs Rework or something.
Chaos Dwarfs better be the most insane campaign ever.
There better be a rework coming with it. No matter how good Chaos Dwarfs are the extra 25% price increase will not be worth it for the race alone. We need to wait and see how Ulrika is implemented when they actually reveal her but most likely will not add as much replay value as a lord imo.

@@saitharys809 Yeah it's weird position, but ultimately, I still think the price-tag of the DLC is inherently what they have put behind that paywall, and if it's not enough content, they're in the wrong charging that much for it. Update 3.0 is what we're already owed by having payed $60 for the game.

From what I see the chaos dwarves seem to have parts of Cathay / brettonia / dark elven mechanics all combined so i hope CA uses this moment to flash those races out (i don't know how much work Cathwy needs)
Cathay is fine outside of the compass. You just select the faction benefit you want once then ignore it until it is off of cooldown and switch it to one of the other ones. Their heroes are pretty mediocre and their administrator lord is as fragile as a spellcaster but with slightly higher melee stats and no spellcasting nor do they have any unique army buffs. They also need a bigger unit roster, theirs is kinda thin.
Legend being a legend with the community as usual.
Will you make a list of the best campaign (fun wise) per race one day ? Even a post in the community hub or a tier list video would be cool for those who dont have time to watch your livestream ?

Black arks are great. I love how their effects stack (things like post battle loot and recruitment rank increases let you just immediately drop top tier highly trained armies)

Do you think it's possible that the dark elves will get their old slaves mechanic back (or something similar) along with the chaos dwarfs sla... I mean labor mechanic?

I doubt it. Like the other commentator mentioned, they just took the slave mechanic, renamed it and gave it to the Chaos dwarfs in usual “creative” assembly fashion.

The price doesn't bother me per se, but I do recognize that A) cheaper is better for customers, and B) if CA can get away without pushback on raising prices, they will. So I understand people not liking the price hike, and honestly I agree in principle, even though I personally don't mind the cost, assuming it's actually a good DLC.

Bravo!! Fellheart is my favorite Dark Elf faction to play followed closely by Rakarth. I like being able to hold all of Cathay and send invasion fleets of Black Arcs across the world.

From someone who live in the uk. We are going through the worst financial crash since 2008. Gas and electricity prices have doubled houses, rent and to buy have doubled from 4 years ago. Food has had an increase of 25% and public transport is also on the rise. its honestly insane to live in this country right now. and to add insult to injury the min wage increase coming in April isn't enough to cover the rent increase let alone all the other essentials. This price dosnt surprise me from what we the uk are going through right now
Same with the US right now. Whole western world is currently being run by fools or in our case over here, dementia. Hope things get better over there, God bless. 🙏
Funnily enough I think CA forgot to update the pricing of the new DLC in Brazil, so we can have it at the same price as the tomb king and Vampirates around here (without the sales I mean) when the 10% pre sale ends will only be 10 reais more (less than 2 US$ difference)
Should have put some limitations to the old slave system but make it interesting by dividing slaves into races that could give you minor factionwide buffs. It would have given the DE to travel the world to enslave certain races in order to get certain buffs.

I hope a free update comes with the chorfs that changes the slave system of the dark elves. I'm okay with a global slaves value, but then be able to select provinces to use slaves and provinces to produce slaves. Provinces that use slaves are the only ones that get a slave public order penalty and depends on the buildings that they have rather than a global f u value.
One fun thing Lokhir can do is sail up the river with his black arks. Not very fast, but great for recruitment, replenishment, and bombardment for your main army.

the debate on pricing for this DLC has annoyed me slightly because some people don't understand other people's postions seen an argument along the lines of "if you're working I don't see how its an issue" before I go any further here is my position in terms of purchasing. I could buy the DLC for my self and gift it to ten others, easily. The price smacks to me of milking it. Someone else argued that all race pack are this price, well they aren't. Chorfs uk steam £19.99, ogres £9.99, Vampire coast £14.99, TK £14.99, Norsca £7.99, wood elves £14.99, beastmen £14.99 and WoC £5.99. there is a sale currently of up to 50% those are prices before discount on 16/03/23. So that argument is up in smoke even CoC and WoC combined £18.98 is less than chorfs. for me the content is going to have to live up to a lot for me to purchase it
fellhart's campaign is really nice, just follow the river through cathay and when your at the end of it the short camp is basically complete.
I was happy to pay the extra bit to support the game. My only concern is the chaos dwarfs are missing a handful of iconic units like the chaos siege giant and crossbow men, and so I hope they’ll be added as flc later like the Bone Giant was

Legend proving to the player base why his name is Legend. NOT because of his legendary skills at the game, but because he's a great guy. Huge respect, never ever have I been prouder to be a fan of a RUclipsr, might be something small, but for real, few does this.
Felt the audio/mic quality was a bit poor in this video, might just be me though. On the Chaos Stunties dlc I'm probably waiting for a sale as I'm on a bit of TW break, don't really mind the price too much if (and only if) the dlc is excellent.
Definitely looks like a good DLC based on the preview videos, granted it has some of the standard recycling. From what Sotek was saying on one of his videos, the race pack DLCs have issues with the 4th lord just not being played (see Aranessa or Khalida). I'm not really one to quibble over $5 (especially in this day and age), but I get why people would be annoyed.

it sucks that they cut out the slave mechanic from the Dark elves and gave it wholesale to the chaos dwarfs, with the dwarfs getting the updated version too anyway. so what was the point? thats my main qualm otherwise still hyped
I hope there's still a chance for the dark elves to get their mechanics back along with the chaos dwarfs. Otherwise I'll see it as purposely removing the mechanic to reintroduce it behind a paywall.
@@SereglothIV Not ruling out the paywall bit because corpos being scumbags is nothing new, but I think what factored into this decision is that the Dark Elves were not an über-popular player race (like Empire, High Elves, and Skaven) in TWW2 and they're not creative enough to figure out how to create a second "totally-not-slave" laborer system that functions similarly but is still unique. So they took the good one away from the less popular faction while replacing it with a watered-down version then copy-pasted it & built upon it with a more hyped-up faction.
@@TheBoxGhost_tm True. DE are not bad but most of the things they can do, the high elves can do better. Black Arks are interesting but Murderous Prowess as a battle mechanic sucks. For the glass cannon race that they're supposed to be, they don't do sufficient damage to justify that role imo. "Too little too late"
I would expect that the Chaos Dwarf labour system affects the Dark Elf slave mechanic as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Druchii get some different mechanics for 3.0.

Tbf I didn’t think it was overly expensive on Steam, then again it depends on the region you are in. For me in the UK it was a similar price to what I paid for the Tomb Kings so wasn’t too bad
Yes finally. My favorite lord. Capturing Beichai while it can be sort of difficult is a perfect place for your military capital due to the salt buffing corsair recruitment.

I literally had the steam page up after pre-ordering forge, not the worst mistake I've made but now I'm wishing I had waited 5 minutes to get an extra 9% off.
It is really nice to see how you care about us and access to the games. I just wished that CA would be as fair, the prices of total war games has increased so much in the last years. I miss the prices we payed in the times of Shogun and even Rome 2.
