Today we're heading off the grid in Oregon to do a bit of camping in some amazing mountains. From getting stuck in the sand to waking up slowly next to a foggy lake, this is what it's really like to live 48 hours off the grid in Oregon.

Hey y'all! We're Chris + Sara (or as you know us, Let’s Be Us), a husband and wife digital nomad travel duo currently working and traveling full time with our pup, Kramer. We've always dreamed of traveling full time, and in May of 2018 we took the leap and made it happen! Today we're balancing work and fun everywhere between the Pacific and Atlantic. From hiking and cycling to tacos and coffee, we're trying to see and experience as much of this world as we can! While our home is currently on wheels in our DIY Sprinter van, our travels take us all around the world.

I hadn't even noticed "lack of travel" - For me it's just "what are Chris and Sara up to?" Great video.

You did great pulling him out. But that tow strap is for pulling broken down cars. Its not not safe to use when someone is stuck.Which you may know sense you were being careful. But if you dont, a kinetic tow strap/rope is what you need for that. I am kinda surprised that truck as a snorkel but doesn't already have a winch. While I have gotten myself out many many times without one, now that I have one, I do not want to give it up.
A few other ways to have gotten that van out. Ratchet strap from van to a tree. Once the strap is tight, dead lift the center of the strap. It looks dumb but lifting the strap shortens it slightly. Its roughly a 20 to 1 mechanical advantage. One man can pull something like that van. Two men can pull a truck axle deep in mud. Option two, jack it up, push the jack over. An if only one tire is up, pull the emergency brake while trying to move. You wouldn't think that would work, but it puts power down to the tire on the ground. There are also ways to use your spinning tire as a winch. There are more ways than I can count to get out. Every time I see someone stuck, I offer to help, but even if they dont need me, I hang around an watch. Everyone does it differently an I am constantly learning new ways.

Any chance Kramer will get a spa day before you trek across the country with him in confined quarters?

I agree, we live in Oregon and this would be a perfect getaway. I LOVE camping off grid and now that we have a trailer (16ft) 🙌🏻
