Beautiful, yet devastating. Such an amazing species. I remember in the 90s they sold baby giants at a pet store literally up the street from where I lived. At the time they were around $8, & plentiful. The good and (in this case the bad) about the fish import business. Great filming man!
I am sharing with you what I saw. Last spotted them in mid-May 2014. Since then, made several trips back to locate them, but no luck. Now 4 months on, spotted this snakehead family again. Look how much the fry have grown. They are still under the protection and watchful eyes of their parents. Same beautiful music by Kevin MacLeod. Music: At Rest - Kevin MacLeod (Incompetech.com)
Stunningly beautiful couple of videos. You are so lucky to witness that. How can anyone ever hope to recreate that environment in a fish tank I'll never know! Really took my breath away, amazing to think what goes on in unspoiled little oasis'. Imagine being a small fish seeing that brood approach! Thank you for one of the best videos I've seen in an age.
Im a giant snake head Hunter and i had went to a lot of places to hunt this species just in the name of sports fishing. I respect this fish for there determinations and sheer power and this vid really had touch my heart. Nice vid by the way
I mostly fish for Euro cats, pikes and walleyes but in this case seeing a scene like this even it would be a perfect opertunity to catch one of the old one and C&R i would leave them alone.
What a beautiful fish...I certainly believe they should not have been released out of their native range, but they certainly shouldn't have been demonized like they have been. There are many birds and mammals that aren't this loving towards their young or each other, much less most fish.
Unfortunately all the love for their fry is part of the problem. The fry are more likely to survive and since they're so territorial and aggressive... The two go hand in hand in creating a really invasive species. I think they're beautiful too. But in their natural habitat.
hanoraptor There were 2 pieces of bread on the water. The young ones swam up to them, curiosity or to eat? One of the large snakeheads swam up near around the bread (but not eating) and the young ones all swam away. The bread pieces left untouched. A lesson taught? Oh, the turtles swallowed the bread.
Great video of one of my all time favorite fish. Beautiful if you have the room to keep them. Great eating fish. Good sport fish. So much more useful than the only moderate value bass.
Snakeheads are aswome parents fish that guard there offspring for about 2 to 3 months. You are lucky for being able to see something like this in an lake/pond an aquascaper could not build any better. How big is this areal?
+ac3b1s You must be right, my many visits after this video I cannot spot them anymore. Oh, this aquascape is part of a large reservoir. Thanks for your comments.
No wonder snakehead as a fish can be successful, it's parents actually protected them rather than leaving them to their fate. As an Invasive species allow them to climb on top of the food chain.
Awesome films man, such a beautiful fish and intelligent.I keep one in my aquarium and try to make it look as natural as I can but it's nowhere near as beautiful as nature left alone to do its thing.hello from Manchester,England.
Hi Bro :) The best video of family Channa micropeltes with fry !!! Well done ! Great job ! You should get some sort of Academy Award nominations ;) I love it :) Thank you :)
Can you please send me a message with some details about how to breed this fish (e.g. Pond size, water pH, water temp etc). It would be much appreciated
ух ты , это вторая часть ? мальки подросли. я не думал что родители до таких пор с ними няньчаться . печально что они могут их попросту сьесть . и где папа?

this is really awesome. I didn't know that the fries stay so long with their parents.
+lulu mink They must have "moved" out of the parents home, soon after the video, many visits but hardly spot them.
Awesome that you found them again months later. Water looks pristine!
TheLU83 I am trying to look them up again, for a third time, but no luck... yet :)

biologically, it's not 'love', but instinct programming.
