Thank you! I knew that I knew this song and had even played it, but I couldn't think of the name to save my life.

After a while the rotor valve becomes really loud. You'll have to lubricate it more often than other trombones

If you see one of these look for the better valve version. It's a good horn but if you need to play low trigger notes you'll be fighting the resistance. The open wrap does very little to improve the old trigger design.

0:51 "many fine orchestras are using these trombones in their trombone section". Is that true? I don't think many professionals use the standard B or BO models. Don't they at least get the Hagmann or Thayer valve? Not to mention, I think brands like Shires and Edwards are more popular. That being said, the player has a very nice sound.

Depends on the band and the player

Do you know any notable examples who use a stock model 42BO with no modifications?

No, I've just seen some play with the stock trigger, I'm not sure names or anything.

Well in the american side of orchestras you don't see Bach's often, and an Hagmann Valve is even rarer. Where you see Bach's use on professional orquestras is in Europe.

Isn't that weird? Bach is an American brand, but it's more popular in Europe than America. Why is that? Is it due to the heavy import fees, making the more expensive ones like Shires and Edwards too cost-prohibitive? You can get decent Yamahas for a similar price, though, which makes me think it's more of a sound preference kind of thing...but why not use European models?

I have a question. What are the 2 pockets that are located behind the slide cover flap thingy used for?

    Should I get a 42BO or 42K?

42BO. Unless you want a rare trombone, dont get the K valve horn, as Bach doesn't make them with K valves anymore. K valves don't sound any better than rotary valves and the response is much worse. Also, in my experience, they're very uncomfortable, the valve kind of falls on your shoulder and its at a very awkward angle.

Thanks for the advice! What is your opinion on a Conn 88HO? I'm stuck between the 42BO and the Conn 88HO

@@kristofersantiago1599 Hmm. I've played both and I'm kind of torn between them. Of you're just transitioning to a professional horn, I'd say the 42, because it tends to be cheaper and easier to work on. However, the 88 has a higher build quality and in my opinion a better sound, so it really is your personal preference.
