    Interesting to hear Russ's thoughts on glide, final glide and also what he expects of a CCC at full speed. Final glide ratio just needs to be more than he needs to make goal, but you don't know that until you're on it. At what point does he decide to leave the last thermal. Yes he did just make goal by a few meters in the worlds 2021.. luck? management? or too much risk when he could have done another turn or two? Obviously experience!

    Referring to 2:37 comment about 70% collapse - my new Ozone Rush 5 XS after such collapse went into dynamic spiral which wasn't fun at all. So I assume even if it is B class glider, it WON'T ALWAYS recover only by laying on the collapsed side...

      My new Ozone Rush 5 XL went into a dynamic stall after such collapse and that was because I put too much brake on the open side. It must take a lot of experience to know how much brake to apply when hit by rough air.

    Also learn to fly basic acro on a low level wing. The acro guys are the best pilots.

    Thanks great interview,one question ,how far in front of feature would Russel tend to fly infront of features on a blue day. I thinking the distance is going to grow with height up wind

    What about a helicopter overhead to simulate collapses due to extreme downdraughts?
