Thank you for this short history, I'm one of those black people that left colon many years ago, and yes it thru that the government is neglecting colon because of its blackness, even from I was a boy growing up there, I migrated to the states 50 years ago, and I'm thinking of moving back, good work.

Correction, workers on the railroad and canal were not slaves. West Indian migrants were free people, additionally Chinese migrants also worked on railroad. Slavery was abolished in 1821 upon independence from Spain. Just wanted to clarify that point.
