I like that this scene still seems to be having impact on people. Hitting the same as it did in 97. Pretty cool.
Definitely a defining trait of a true classic! Seriously shot up there in my top games now
The FF7 name has become so over popularized when really, it was a very humble game to begin with. It's nice to see people going back to the basics, some even experiencing it for the first time.
At the time, i was like...petrified! Seeing this 25 years later, hits the same! Loved this video. Simple and sincere!

That seriously added such impact to this moment fighting JENOVA with Aeriths theme
We have gone full circle... back in 97 this hit HARD then in the early 2000's EVERYONE knew this as a spoiler.... now we are so far into the future its new for many still.
Got here by random youtube stuff. FF7 is ma favorite game of all time and in 98 nobody could understand why a 15 year old boy would cry for a videogame. Seeing this video(s) makes me feel I was not in the wrong.
And yeah, I'm not ready to the most sad moment I experinced in videogames but in HD.

Barret and Vincent's reactions to this, if they're in your party, are quiet extra heartbreak. They both KNOW what it's like to love, and lose. Yuffie's heart shatters, but Barret in particular makes sure *Cloud* knows he's there for him.
I appreciated the devs put effort into each character having a distinct reaction. For younger gamers you have to remember that previous 2d rpgs were limited by the technology as to what they could portray. This was a huge step forward.
No matter how many times you see this scene, it still hits hard every time.
It's really well done.
This scene is gonna wreck us hardcore in the remake on the next chapter, since they made Aerith a lot more emotional with also a lot more personality. Also the actual voices will be spoken and not read.
Don't do this to me. You're definitely right though. Having just played remake after OG and CC now, they've really done her well in it. I will not be mentally prepared in time haha
Hopefully it doesn’t happen, but I think Square will feel like it has to happen because they know the purists will come out in troves.

@@wintersong2266 Purists would be mad, but it would instill the same sense of uncertainty and heartbreak as the original.
So in a way it would be more true to the original than doing a 1-to-1
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 nah. It'd be stupid. Cloud's whole motivation is to become a Soldier (even though he doesn't make it) is to impress Tifa and Aerith MUST die for the planet to be saved.
Yuffie's reaction is the most heartbreaking. I always have her in my party. If I'm going to break my heart over and over, I'm going to shatter it into a million pieces
Tifa's was rough too. She HAD to run away because she couldn't stand to be there anymore. T_T
@@tailedgates9 yes. My party is always Tifa and Yuffie for that part.
You can see Cloud twitching, like struggling to not do it. This will be us in Rebirth. This moment in the OG really feels like you are playing, trying to avoid it. We will try our best to avoid that, but it's just what is supposed to happen. And that feeling of failure, not being able to save her will break us even more.
Honestly givin where they seem to be going with the sotry of Sephiroth trying to undo history I woulnt be suprised if the twist is she lives, only for in part 3 us the player having to let her die so she can save the world like she did in the original...which really will hurt even more.
This scene is so emotional but recently I can't help but notice how Sephiroth appears to turn into an opera singer around 2:22 😂

My nephew hadn't played the OG, but he did witness Aerith's death in the abridged series, and it was still just as impactful. The poor little guy was crying his heart out, but I tried by best to console him. Just goes to show how powerful this moment and the game itself is. The original will always hold up.

This scene, and the one later with Tifa (no spoilers) are my favorite things to watch people react to. This story is a masterclass in foreshadowing.
I legit cry every time I play through this, even though I know it's going to happen every god damn time.
Just imagine this whole scene with voice acting 🔥😭
the worst part about the remake is making the voice actors so likable because it will just make it that much harder to hear ;__;

Man!! For those of us who play the OG game on the PS1 as a kid knows this iconic scene so well. Still gives me goosebumps decades later. 😢😢
This scene 25 years ago had me in all my feels… it still hits me to this day when I hear the music… that was hard
I was 14 years old when I experienced this, it was extremely emotional.
I had lv 45 party members with 5000 to 6000 HP 500 to 600 MP each here Cloud Cid Barret only.
That was the fastest Jenova fight I've ever seen, you should be a speed runner, I didn't even see it!
I bawled like a little baby when I first got to this part. I was also so pissed and ready to kill Sephiroth afterwards. 28 years later hearing Aerith's Theme still gets me.
insane. saw this when i was 8 years old and im 33 now. ff7-10 was such a big part of my childhood.
Went to see final fantasy played in orchestra at the royal Albert hall last weekend. Tears did flow when Aeriths tune came on
crazy to think i played this game in 1997. its been my favorite game ever since. now with the remakes i feel it has finally been surpassed, but only bc technology helps to depict the characters and stories just that much better. the original will MEAN more to me until the day i die, bc it helped me through some horrible times as a kid. some ppl might find this strange, but i related to these characters far more than any actual human being near me, and i can say with 100 percent certainty that i love them.
Just found this channel I wish the whole playthrough was available to watch from start to finish
All we can do is hope that the remake doesn't screw this moment up.
With all the uhh, plot shenanigans so to speak in remake near the end, definitely has me a bit hesitant as we wait for part 2. Hopefully, whatever they choose to do about it, they do it justice.
I think they wont kill her in the remake.

hits even harder when no one is watching. i've played this game 6-7 times. still hits hard. then i played crisis core reunion. that game hit me so hard i had tears dripping from my face. then watch ff7 advent children movie. It will get you too.

My party wiped the first time I fought Jenova there. So then I had to go back and do it again... knowing what was goign to happen to her.

But an old livestream from one of my favorite youtubers named Aerith "Goddammit" and when he got to this part, the first thing Cloud says after she gets stabbed is "Goddammit..."

Your girlfriend being a big meanie head during a pivotal emotional point of the game was one of my favorite parts of the video.

Did you genuinely not know the moment was coming, though? Back in the early 2000's when I first played it, naturally we had no idea. But these days everything gets spoiled :P (And that whole 20+ years of it being out and all).
I really never touched the Final Fantasy series outside of 10 and the FF8 Playstation Demo Disc until this past year, so I never really looked for much related to it or talked to my friends that were into it. I was aware that someone doesn't make it but never saw a need to find out who since I didn't really garner interest in the game until I kept seeing Remake trailers and wanted to play the original before playing it. Really a charming masterpiece that still holds up really well I think
This scene and the song still makes me sad. Aerith's Theme became her eulogy at this point.

They played the stab scene on a commercial for the game. Totally ruined it for me.

What the f is this version of the game why is Sephiroth a mouth breathing mong in this one?
Lmao yeah its an ugly little bug with the Steam port version apparently. I asked the same question if it was suppose to be that way during my playthrough, cause it looks stupid and I never had the chance to play the PSX version.
The history of it is really weird. It's basically the PC port which is used for pretty much all the re-releases. When it was being ported back in the late 90s the team working on it thought "how will people know if they're speaking if their mouths aren't open". So the basic line based mouths can't be found anywhere unless you're running the OG PS version.
this is why hojo needs to die for creating sephiroth
