Many thanks for the video! What happens if we load balance 2 ISP links having different speed? Say one is 100Mbps and the other is 20Mbps. Will it limit the speed to 20Mbps if traffic is routed to this link? Or is it smart enough to reroute it to 100Mbps link if the 20Mbps link is congested?
Thanks for the video. This is a good walkthrough. I just bought mine and found a glaring flaw, well a few. The first and biggest is that there is no true connected devices list, There is only the DHCP server list... and this does NOT list static/reserved IP's (for servers or other use cases.) This is horrible if you want to quickly see if a device lost connection or if there is another issue. The reserved IP list does not show connection status. The the second issue is that features seem to be divided between the Omada interface and the routers direct interface. Through Omada, you can see connected devices, but you cannot set static/reserved IP's.. so you have to go through a lot of loops for something that is pretty standard and important. The third is more specific to certain use cases. This is that the controllers (software or hardware) need to be directly connected to the router or by switch. And they need to be setup first before you can use the Omada or cloud interface. This is a problem if you are in a multiple router configuration (for network or IoT isolation for security). Lastly, And this one is technically in the device info, there is no ipv6.. and it is promised in a future update. It is insane that this was released without it, and also that there is no real commitment to a timeline for its implementation. They need an update to fix these features. All that said, the performance (so far) is rock solid. I still have some testing to do with the VLANs.
Hi ferral nice comment, I wonder if you're done testing this tplink, I would like to ask if it can detect if the modem has no internet? Or its just pinging the modems ip and says it has internet?
Hi Willie, thanks for the video! I have a question. I'm trying to set up my ER605 in standalone mode. I want to be able to *wire* my devices, without using wifi. That is my only purpose, probably the most basic setup?. But when I plugged everything in, my wired mac computer was not connected to the internet, not working. I didn't find it was plug and play. Any suggestions? thanks:)
Actually Willie, PPTP need's to be in routers still. Imagine that your remote location is behind a NAT and you don't have the money (eg. management is scrugey) to buy a proxy. You could set up a PPTP tunel in client-server fashion (remote router is the client) and use it only as a carrier for IPsec site-to-site or OpenVPN, negating the need to use a paid proxy with exposed IP address. Since PPTP is not encrypted, there is minimum overhead on this extra VPN.

I connected to it two ISP modems, one Eero 6 wireless router, and two TP-Link TL -SG105 unmanaged network switches. WiFi through Eero router is awesome, I’m getting 200 Mbps from the two internet connections, however I’m getting 100 Mbps in the wired devices (TV and iMac) connected to the TL-SG105 switches. Do you have any idea why I’m not getting full internet speed on those wired devices?
Hi, is there any way to shutdown one of Wan ports remotely for maintenance? Unplugging the physical cable is not an option. I am using TL-R605 with Omada controller on latest software version. please advise. thank you!
