Wow, your painting is absolutely gorgeous! I love the colours of the background and the hibiscus and of course the hummingbird!❤You are an excellent teacher and a beautiful painter! Thank you for sharing this lovely painting. Helene
I have been addicted to your painting as so gorgeous. I can not wait until we begin the hummingbird itself. Thank you I think you are a marvelous teacher and most gifted.
I am mesmerized by your work. I’m gonna have to get my paints back out and come back to this and do with you. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it live, but I can do it at my own time. Thank you so much.
Thank you Cinnamon and John, another wonderful tutorial. It's amazing that you get so much done under difficult circumstances, I wish the family well with the move and hope you get settled quickly.
Awww love the wish. You know I picked this painting because of the humming bird because my dear sweet Luna puppy and I used to watch them together. She recently passed away so I picked this painting because it reminded of her and calmed my soul and like the devine you put that wish! Thanks so much. Can't wait to paint with you too. 😊
Your thoughts are appreciated and timely. Our dachshund Ginger went over her rainbow bridge in October. Oh how we miss her. Thank you for thinking of those who have lost thier fur babies. ❤❤
Sherpa!! Agh this one got me so frustrated I never gave up and on my fifth try I finally got the blend I was happy with. Thanks for this beautiful painting. That is all I wanted to share. Here we go now to let it dry and try the flowers
Thank you Cinnamon for this great tutorial. It's definitely not for beginners, however I will try as soon as I get my courage together. It's absolutely BEAUTIFUL
This is a 3 hoot, which is the most difficult of the hoot levels, just take you time, follow along and go slow, remember the great thing about acrylic is being able to paint over mistakes or areas you don't like 💜
I will do this one as 11 x 14" and depending on results and experience could see it as study before doing it as 18 x 24" with some personalized alterations to better suite the larger image/size of painting..... great lesson, wonderful supportive instruction. Keep up the wonderful work. 🥰🎨
This one just blew me away!! More gorgeous backgrounds please ! The hardest part as a beginner is not trying to blend every stroke and just trusting it will look good as u build it up. I’m working on this lol . The soft acryl brushes work great on blended backgrounds I noticed and I love the D brushes what a game changer! I want to blend everything with them lol ! Thanks for all y’all do ❤
Thank you so much. I do also love these blended backbrounds too and have done a few of them. I also love the D brushes, they are very versatile. Play around with the D brush for your question below. it may be a little stiff for some blending techniques, but certainly worth a try for some others. 💛
I love your tutorials. I do struggle a little because I only have primary colors, black, white, and raw umber. So I have to pause and try to mix colors that will hopefully match. Thank you for the lessons.

I was wondering. Can I use gel medium to prep my canvas after I have done the background? As apposed to spritzing. To get a softer look or will it cause the paint to shrink after the composition is finished
Hello to Cinnamon and John, WOW this painting is BEAUTIFUL! Loved watching you paint this, thank you so much. You are amazing. Thank you so much.... This will take me days to complete (LOL). Best, Dorie in Henderson, NV
Absolutely stunning! Thank you so much teaching with patience, and love. I'm curious as to which brand of paints are on your palette for this painting. I would like to use exactly same brand you are, for my acrylic paints include golden, liquitex, some basics.
All our traceables are on the website. From the home page click the traceables link (blue box) and use the search function to find the one you need. Here is a link to this one to get started theartsherpa.com/traceables/image/trace_image/1501/1280/_v=1684527703
Hi Cinnamon, a medium D-brush is in the supply list. Is the RAPHAEL TEXTURA ACRYLIC D-BRUSH, 16 a medium D-brush? Thanks, and as always, thank you for what you and John do.
How much time would I need to wait if I were to use water mixable oil paints on the background? Also would then using acrylic make me need to worry about fat over lean? I just got into water mixable oils. I could probably do this whole thing in acrylic, but weather issues would make blending hard ( they dry to quickly)
Im getting ready to do this one. Just did the Fairy, The birds on a limb and the Morning glow with the butterfly and daffodil. Amazing and so challenging I love the 3 hoot level cause I feel Im learning a lot of techniques and understanding the importance of values and color mixing. I just bought some Raphael textura brushes from your store and must say these are great brushes. Do they make Fliberts and Angle brushes in this brand??? Thank You Cinnamon for everything you teach us.

Hi Cinnamon and John, Mimi here. I'm one of your patreon members. One of the reasons I often paint in oils is because acrylics dry out so fast on me living here in the desert. When I paint with acrylics I mix up a daily recipe of mediums which does help slow down the acrylic paints from drying quite as fast. If Cinnamon would like this recipe to share with her patreon members, please let me know later.
Thanks for the offer. Also, try a desktop humidifier, a stay wet palette, and perhaps Golden open paints. They already have the medium to keep them "wetter' in them. 💞
Hi Cinnamon, Thank you. Yes, a humidifier helps a little, but the desert weather is brutal on acrylics drying here in the desert. I've wanted to try Golden Open paints. Not sure where to post my recipe and substitute recipes for my slow drying medium recipe on your website so I'm going to email it to you the art sherpa email now. Hourly you'll see my email. Then you can post it where you want on your website. Happy Day! ✌&❤🌻🎨
Ohhh, Sherpa, I'm. An oil painter shifting to acrylics. I'm using liquitex basics. They all seem to be transparent 😢 I'm fighting the paint all the time. I watch your videos every night and do some of the paintings. I've done 5 or 6 on the same 8 x 10. I just keep painting it white to do each one. What can I do?? 😢😢 Buy Golden? Are they less transparent?? I REALLY wanna focus on the painting and not have to work sooo hard and be distracted by that paint 😢 please help
I painted this and loved doing it. You mentioned the "D" brush. I would like to know the size you used and a link to order it. Was it synthetic? I could not find it in your store. Thanks.
I love that, gorgeous and the colors are beautiful, blend so well. Thank you so much. How does that Pinterest work and how do I get a copy, I've never used it.
It is a awesome brush for blending!a game changer. Now u can lay the paint down like a flat brush and blend like a filbert! Love mine if u can’t tell lol
Hi I wanted to get back and make sure I actually answered the question by sharing a couple things with you that have pictures of the brush store.theartsherpa.com/dartigny-interlocked-white-hog-bristle-d-brush-16-p3194.aspx and shop.stlartsupply.com/products/raphael-d-brushes-for-oil-and-acrylic

I painted almost every day for 3 years, then 2 months ago I just stopped (I happened to be in the middle of this painting). Did I burn myself out? Do you have any advice? Now I'm gonna finish this one! update: a few hours after I posted this, I found a great box of painting supplies in the basement of my apartment!! Liquitex heavy body and Amsterdam elite tubes in many of the colors I wanted, as well as some beautiful brushes, Styrofoam balls, wire, hot glue gun, xacto knives, spray paint and all sorts of other goodies! I guess the Universe was listening and decided to encourage me!!! I'm sending you warm thoughts of encouragement, you can take some credit for this find :)
I have painted this along with another hummingbird you have done. I combined them into one painting. I've only been seriously painting for 2 months. How can I get a photo to you for you to critique?
Hi Art Sherpa Amazing beautiful painting! Love it❤ I do not have the Princeton oval mop brush . It’s very expensive. can I blend the background colours some other way?
Any soft synthetic brush for Acrylic can be a blender. There are lots of alt brands for the same type of brush also there are many many ways to blend so when you dont have a tool or conditions for blending change its nice to have a coule ways of doing that here is a good video about bending ruclips.net/video/zV1LRY0r41Y/видео.html
@@TheArtSherpa Cinnamon you are fantastic and a great person. I love you for your kindness. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video link. It’s really very helpful. I think I will sit all over again on the mess that I have created for the background.
Hi Cinnamon, you asked that we let you know what we think about the book. I am a little disappointed at the moment. Make NOTE I am not doing so well, I am a senior with medical issues plus, since SPRING I deal with various allergy problems, one being with my eyes plus now also (Canada fires - smoke) in the air. I have tried to start reading but find the print to light, and small, hard to focus on lettering to comprehend what’s being said to extrapolate information. So I have put it down a few times already. If I look through the book quickly, it doesn’t appear ALL PRINT is like that, besides print being light in tone it’s more of an issue on some colored pages. It’s a BEAUTIFUL book, BIG book, I don’t think I have bought such a book as this, and my library is extensive.
I love this tutorial and plan to attempt it; however, would like to try it on a larger canvas, 16x20. How can I enlarge the traceable to accommodate that size? I cannot master the grid method and my computer does not have printing capabilities which allows printing in "sections" and then taping them together.
Generally a printer will have a tiling feature that will allow you to size the print to 16 x 20 with a photo editor or within the output on the print and then you match up the marks with tape to enlarge. In each printer this can be located in a different menu, so you’ll need to look up your model to see if it has this feature. If that doesn’t work there is a free online app called rastorbatior it has a way to enlarge and then you print out each individual page also matching up it within its system. rasterbator.net/
Here is a video I did on how to use a traceable theartsherpa.com/videos/896/how-to-use-a-traceable-by-the-art-sherpa and a D brush is a brush that is flat on one side and rounded on the other 🌻
They are all on the website here theartsherpa.com/traceables. Then use the search function to find the one you need. Here is a link to that one to get you started theartsherpa.com/theartsherpacommunity/traceables/1501/hummingbird-and-pink-hibiscus-flower 🌹
I grabbed a link so you can go there directly. This is the traceable section of my website and you can look for different traceable using a keyword search. theartsherpa.com/theartsherpacommunity/traceables/1501/hummingbird-and-pink-hibiscus-flower
i need your help, i am trying this painting and i use liquitex acrylic, i can't afford the expensive stuff, and i notice my colors dont cover well and they just are a lot darker not as bright, what can i do i really do what the bright colors to come out just not getting them please help
I super get the need to balance budget with wanting a good result in your paint. What you’re describing is an issue with Liquitex basics. It can be really hard to get the colors you want with them if it helps know that I really struggle with that paint too. If you really cannot get a color to layer, you can sometimes do a light layer underneath it to help it be vibrant but that can be tricky. My honest recommendation is to switch brands to Abstract Acrylic by Sennelier. They are economical, but are a little better at not having such a big color shift and they do a little better with the color mixability. For right now using enjoy the paint you have as you run out of a color you can replace it over time.. if you’ve got to have a yellow layer over a dark Lair, you can paint that white first dry it completely, and then glaze the yellow over the top sometimes that can help
yes its free and you may watch any time. Here is a link to the free traceable too theartsherpa.com/theartsherpacommunity/traceables/1501/hummingbird-and-pink-hibiscus-flower
There are two blues in this video. Do you remember the timestamp if you can get me to the point in the video where I specified whether it was phthalo or ultramarine blue for the mix? Another way of knowing is if it’s a gray color it’s generally in Ultramarine blue if it’s a turquoise color I’m genuinely starting with a phthalo blue base. If I’m mixing a purple often, it will be an ultramarine blue base. The two blues can look similar on the pallet, and in the beginning of the video, I will specify which color is where.

IIt looks like the D brush shorter & thicker than a filbert? You do make it look so simple to do with the light touch you have! Pretty colours.
I will do this one as 11 x 14" and depending on results and experience could see it as study before doing it as 18 x 24" with some personalized alterations to better suite the larger image/size of painting..... great lesson, wonderful supportive instruction. Keep up the wonderful work. 🥰🎨
Thank you and this would be awesome on a larger canvas 🧡
Love this painting and love your hair Cinnamon! The colour really suits you x
Thank you for both, going back to early days 💙

Question I only have the hog D brush and it blends great can I use it here if I dry it good after rinsing it out ?
Thank you so much. I do also love these blended backbrounds too and have done a few of them. I also love the D brushes, they are very versatile. Play around with the D brush for your question below. it may be a little stiff for some blending techniques, but certainly worth a try for some others. 💛

Thank you for feedback. It is appreciated. 🌸
I think you should take this indoor time to make EVERYONE feel welcome and included. 😁😂😁😂

i need your help, i am trying this painting and i use liquitex acrylic, i can't afford the expensive stuff, and i notice my colors dont cover well and they just are a lot darker not as bright, what can i do i really do what the bright colors to come out just not getting them please help
Is this free and will it be available at a later time, to watch?
yes its free and you may watch any time. Here is a link to the free traceable too theartsherpa.com/theartsherpacommunity/traceables/1501/hummingbird-and-pink-hibiscus-flower
@@TheArtSherpa I am so looking forward to this! Thanks for doing all of this
Prep work for us! You are the BEST! ❤️
DO YOU USE ALCOHOL INK?I’D LOVE TO SEE YOU DO SOME VIDEOS WITH ALCOHOL INK.
I have used it. Will note the suggestion 🧡
You say to mix blue with the white but didn’t say which one. Which blue?
There are two blues in this video. Do you remember the timestamp if you can get me to the point in the video where I specified whether it was phthalo or ultramarine blue for the mix? Another way of knowing is if it’s a gray color it’s generally in Ultramarine blue if it’s a turquoise color I’m genuinely starting with a phthalo blue base. If I’m mixing a purple often, it will be an ultramarine blue base. The two blues can look similar on the pallet, and in the beginning of the video, I will specify which color is where.

WHY BLEND DRY INSTEAD OF WET INTO WET
There is a lot of wet into wet, but sometimes it calls for a dry brushing 💚
