    Holy cow, this video was short and sweet! We all know you bring a whole lot more to the table than flowers, but thank you for this one, as it is so precious and I can't wait to get to it. Cat's Tongue brush, this was a new one for me! The classic filbert looks like it should do the trick though. 😉
    Side note for Hydrangeas, it's all about the soil acidity. Egg shells will decrease the acidity, whereas coffee grounds will increase the acidity. I would start with the shells first though. In addition, you can alter the color of your blooms by inserting different metal rods in the soil in proximity of the base of the plant; however, yours are quite beautiful.
    I hope you're doing well!

    • @joniyoungart
      @joniyoungart  Месяц назад

    Oh, that's nice and well done. I never mastered one-stroke technique, somehow my hands don't want to (and my mother uses that technique to paint roses on fingernails).
    About hydrangeas, they are one of my favorite flowers and here in my area, the warmest part of Germany, they grow like crazy. Did you know that those huge, beautiful flowers are actually fake flowers?
    About yours not having blossoms this year: They kinda start producing them in autum of the year before. Did you maybe prune them after they bloomed? They are also no big fans of cold. When the winter was colder than 0°C (don't know how much that is in Fahrenheit, but it's the freezing point), the baby blossoms might have just died (unless that's usually the case in your area and the plant was regionally bred to withstand the cold). Same goes when there were longer periods of spring frost this year, like constantly under 15°C for a week (or generally remarkably colder than usually at that time of year, in your area).
    And another reason could be: They like it sour. Rain water is the best for them, if you are watering them with tab water, and the soil itself is not that sour, it might be that. However, as long as the plant itself is still alive, there's always hope for next year.

    This is a first try? You did really good! The leaves were spot on. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and process

    Why only 3 petals when everyone else makes 4? I like your technique, similar to one-stroke. Thank you 😊
