All you need to teach your students is how to do the chemistry/calculations so they dont kill their patients later in life. NOTHING to do with who, what, them, it, she or he has anything to do with that. It is not subjective it is factual. Or at least it was when i took Chem1 and Chem2.
Ironically, knowing the *actual* sex and ethnicity of your patients can actually be pretty important for proper dosages. But those sorts of complicating factors would NOT be included in a high-school level course.

Let's be real, if you suck as a student you're not going to excel in STEM careers. Not the end of the world, find your niche. I am not a DEI fan at all.
I don’t understand you people. What is not to like about diversity equity and inclusion, its not a euphemism for anything else, but it does seem that “I’m not a fan of DEI” is a euphemism for I wont defend marginalized peoples.

I'm from Argentina and an engineer. By chance I came across this. Mixing social issues with teaching chemistry? May I respectfully ask you: Has America gone completely mad?
The globalist elites, yes. Sensible people are pushing back at this madness. It remains to see how this will all play out.
Coo coo for cocoa puffs
Led by the potato in office.
Yes....yes they have.
And the rest of us are horrified, or laughing hysterically.
Hold my banana
All you need to teach your students is how to do the chemistry/calculations so they dont kill their patients later in life. NOTHING to do with who, what, them, it, she or he has anything to do with that. It is not subjective it is factual. Or at least it was when i took Chem1 and Chem2.
Ironically, knowing the *actual* sex and ethnicity of your patients can actually be pretty important for proper dosages. But those sorts of complicating factors would NOT be included in a high-school level course.
@@grantjohnson5785 This is a community college course though, so maybe some of those details would be included, but maybe not.
What you're failing to grasp is that in this new model things such as science, facts, and evidence are considered just one way of knowing things. Further they are the tools of the prejudiced and oppressive system that we live under as they discount the other paths to knowing that come from the lived shared experiences of oppressed and silenced minorities. In their world view for example the knowledge of the shaman in treating a health issue such as say a neurological disorder is just as valid as that of an M.D. trained in western medicine.

I gave a thumbs up just on seeing the title. I work in the medical field and the incursion of toxic "woke" insanity into every aspect of current practice is horrific.
I think they’re trying to destroy society so they can have ultimate control. Andrew napolitano said “a thing will only happen if it CAN happen”
Thank you so much for standing your ground like the Oak. We are individuals. That is what sets us apart. Driving invention.
It's scary to think what's happening to kids in school. In the 90s we had various educational figures from different races and economic backgrounds give inspirational speeches once in a while and it was very cool learning that everyone ALREADY HAS an equal opportunity. Effort is what counts
I hope we can keep hearing about this professor and his annual review. Please keep us posted on his efforts to preserve science class.
Just note if you have to go through a struggle session, James Lindsay has some good takes on how to get through it, or sometimes even screw them up while doing so.
They usually set them up in a way where the opinion of anyone who might dissent is preemptively dismissed due to their membership in a disfavored racial group. It's much easier to achieve harmony when you don't allow the other side to have an opinion.
@@CIARUNSITE You can still troll them and waste their time and resources, or just get kicked out prematurely. You can also go along with things and document them careful then expose them later on. I think Lindsay had a few more. Them "kicking you out" is likely the best thing you can have happening to you.
This is exactly why I left California this summer, right before my son started high school.
I'm right behind you. Adios after 40 years.
Say “I treat everyone equally”.
Besides if someone does poorly you don't treat them the same as someone who's passing.
I teach at a community college in NY State. Fortunately, NY is so incompetent with anything having to do with education that I doubt they'll implement this kind of thing soon. But it is inevitable. I have ten years to go until retirement, and I hope I make it out before it's intolerable.
Praying for God's favor on your courage.
Love this guy ... from a former STEM major. True critical thinking not Critical Whatever Theory.
Well, Professor, move to Texas. Better to do it on your own terms and timetable, rather than wait for them to squeeze you out and doing it anyway.
Mad Magazine fan?
@@synchronium24 Magazines are a fan of me.
Your governor had to ban DEI programs since they were already present in Texas. And apparently Austin has its own city colleges with DEI departments. Community college professors in Texas don't seem to be safe from this at all. If you have to ban it the roots are already in and the people who put it there are still employed. You will become California eventually, but so will my state.
@@CIARUNSITE It's frighteningly purple. They have a guy here named Beto who challenges Kamala for twitness, yet a scary percentage of people vote for him because they believe lavish free lunch promises from Democrats.
Teachers and professors need to realize tenure goes both ways. Conservative educators have much power.
We need to start at our local level and get these people OUT! Vivek wants to abolish School Boards…let’s help him do it!! Start there and then boycott the colleges…starve them as they need students to make the overinflated prices of tuition to keep the doors open. My dad's a retired 42 year chemistry teacher. H.s. and college C101.
He'd never do this. He left IUPUI over garbage. Forcing teachers to follow curriculum. Books written by the director.
He was invited to teach his way at IUPUC. No agenda. In the 90's
100% top down.., shows who made the long march through the institutions. It will take a generation to root out this evil.
Or much more probably sadly! 😢

Thank you, Professor Blanken!
If this guy fails in his resistence there is no longer a justification for wasting a cent on an "education" in a California Community College.
Good on you! Tell it like it is!
Not no… but HELL NO on to any BS mandates!

Amen we all need to speak up! And be logical!!
Bill is a hero!
This guy gets it. My niece has special needs and if her dosage gets messed up she dies. Science is just the facts. Just teach that. You need to know where you messed up. In the real world it matters.

If every god fearing American responded the way of this chemistry professor, we would have a lot fewer issues in this country. (Obvious statement of the day)
Great answer. It is awful what goes on in the schools. In my undergraduate every class I had was indoctrination. I complained to the Dean's office about it because I felt the teachers were inserting radical beliefs into the course. They retaliated a little bit to the point where I had to have my work signed off by the student services office. I went to Cornell and I guess I was naïve because I didn't know how liberal the school was. I think most universities are like this now and it's intimidating and I think they want to create little socialists. My Catholicism was what guided me. I felt bad for a lot of the teachers and once I saw a teacher crying after being reprimanded. I chose this school because of its scientific program but I should have gone to Dartmouth, maybe Holy Cross.
It's sad that the people who are making more sense today are the brainwashed religious ones. These are horrible times. People are either woke fanatics or religious fanatics, there's nothing in between.
That standard sounds like it could only be applied to subjective matter. Chemistry is purely objective, right?
This probably doesn't affect his classroom, he's just trying to be politically relevant and internet famous, and is also likely being used by this news station for views. It might cost him his job. You can dispute policy with your administrators respectfully but when you go on a right wing media show you are being disrespectful and deliberately making yourself a nuisance and politicizing yourself and perhaps should be targeted for review. Just a thought. I hope you have a backup career basically, because you're being very reckless and stupid. You're giving a middle finger to your employers, which doesn't go over well in the best of circumstances. I hope you know what you're doing. Did you even mention this to your employer that you have qualms about the wording of one sentence in your charter or whatever before you went on a news show and said you think your school is full of monsters or whatever you think you're doing?

@@cypressbutane4575 i take it you haven't been in a science class in more than ten years. I'm not trying to be mean, but there is a huge problem with ideology creeping into objective science. They force it even where it doesn't make sense. And these aren't rightwing teachers who are freaking out about this: they're asking them to rewrite math textbooks to focus on the presumptive racist history of word problems, I've seen it with my own eyeballs. I've had class time taken from basic math principals to 'discuss' the history behind how word problems are written. It doesnt matter. Cultural perspective isn't useful in learning basic math concepts. I don't need to learn about the aramaic approach to numbers. I need you to help me memorize the quadratic formula and when to apply it. I don't need to hear about how it was designed during a time when there were lynchings. i need to make sure i can use the knowledge, let me learn the history and the perspective AFTER i have mastered the concepts.

This garbage goes on to a lesser extent even in the military. I was never so glad that my body gave out and i was able to get partial retirement three years before traditional retirement. Better to take part and leave with some dignity. ‘Authentic lived experience’ is one of the finest examples of doublespeak in modern discourse. While it seems as though it ought to refer to individual people’s own experiences as they interpret them, it actually assumes in advance that a narrow set of experiences are ‘true’ and that any member of a supposed minority group who believes themselves to have experienced something different has been manipulated in some way. As a black student of mine once said to me: they say they’ve given us a voice but all we’ve been given is a script.
Why won't they evaluate his tenure like they expect him to review his student's performance?
Good question what did they expect him to do?
Not teach chemistry. The people pushing D.I.E. have no interest or inteligence to understand the sciences or engineering, and don't care if they undo centuries of learning because they want us all worrying about who our words offend.
It is all about weeding out those that do not subscribe to their ideology. They cannot have free thinkers in it. The left is intentionally dismantling our country to make way for a globalist dictatorship.
Probably pass the students of color and fail the white and Asian students 😂

Yeah but if your doing this for people to go into areas of law, hr in companies. Social work and government workers than you see it displayed. From top down. People with ethical standards, lacking integrity to uphold their duties of that position. Just to get the bag society and to hell everyone else.
