Macron is 100% correct in his statement. Armenia of course is allowed and should defend their territory! For the West, anything that aggravates Putin is a huge plus for supporters of freedom and a people's right to self-determination!

If you are at peace, what difference does it make if your neighbor is armed?
The objection by Azerbaijan is an attempt to keep Armenia incapable of defending itself.

If your country objects to your neighbor having weapons, what does that say about you? If I am at peace with my neighbor, what difference does it make if he is armed?
“An armed society is a polite society, out of necessity.” Anyone objecting to Armenia having weapons seeks to annex Armenia. We can see that demonstrated in real time in Ukraine.
This is a fundamental difference in the western thinking compared to eastern thinking. Putin could not maintain control of his government if Russia had a Second Amendment to the Russian Constitution. He couldn’t maintain total control through a monopoly on violence. The same thing exists between nations.

I'm a brazilian interested in geopolitics, not pro-armenian nor pro-azerbaijani. The opinion of this Raffi Elliott looks biased to me, as he seems to assert that there was a kind of "ethnic cleansing" in N. Karabakh once 150K armenians fled the region!! I should ask him: did the azeris expel them by attacking the civilians or only menacing them to flee, otherwise they should be eliminated?? Was that military operation directed to civilians or to militias? What should the azeris do to take back the control of a region dominated by militias (like those lil' green man in Crimea)?? Should they call the militians to sit, have a beer and talk about the territory devolution, once it belonged to Azerbaijan? Mr. Elliott should tell us what Azerbaijan could do to keep the civilians in the region, what strategy should be taken to recover the azerbaijani control of a separatist N. Karabakh!!! Yeah, separatist like Crimea and the Donbas are!!
TVP folks: the "ethnic cleansing" POV looks somehow precarious and biased to me. Why don't you clarify that event more rationally? Please!

I don't expect Armenia to try to recapture Nagorno-Karabakh. They need more weapons for defensive purposes. Azerbaijan has an exclave on the other side of Armenia and would like to take territory from Armenia in order to have a land route to the exclave.

What did you expect from azerbayjan? Dishonesty and lies are a way of living. Cringe you can always expect from azerbayjan, that it always delivers, a good laugh.
