Hi guys, great work, i have to admit. I always had troubles with orch run ups/downs and glisses.. The entire score would sound very realistic and analog.. but when it comes to those articulations it just shows that everything was built in the box.. and it pretty much ruins the score.. how do you guys approach those situations? not to mention two articulations (for exmpl. marc.gliss down).. how do you manage that ?
When doing dynamics or expression curves would you say the whole grid should be thought of as divided into 3rds from top to bottom, (p,m,f)? Or would you say it's more exponential making the whole p range.... ppp.. pp p... All the bottom half, then the top half is half n half (m) range and (f) range (more or less)? Hope this makes sense. My OCD is really annoying with this detail. I need a set thought, at least for while to learn it and then maybe I'll start tweaking how I think. Lol But I can't find anything about this, matching the velocity and more like the numbers to the dynamics. I'm new to this, the vibrato rate and speed, dynamics and expression are such an odd thing to think about because I'm a drummer and I've never actually played anything that uses this...lol velocity yeah. I've figured that out for the most part with drums, but strings.. horns... Anything else is odd. Normally I'd just write it into Finale with markings and assume the player would naturally do it. But now that I can make mock ups of my own music, all that shit is just odd to think about... Also, using numbers to program it in, thinking logically in dynamics didn't really work. I just took 128/10 pppp, ppp, pp, p, mp, mf, f, ff, fff, ffff I thought it might, made sense to me.
How much would you charge to work on a piece if I could provide an audio file of it, a PDF of the music and MIDI I really just need it to sound better than what Finale is giving me right now. It's for an Composition Scholarship for Berklee College of music.
If you can't quite afford an actually orchestra, i'd try Kontakt. You've probably heard of it, but Kontakt does an extremely great job. It's a good idea to use it until a company, or something along those lines are willing to take your marker and pay for a live orchestra to play your compositions. Just saying, but it's great (there will most likely be a sale for either Christmas, or Black Friday) - you can find it here: www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/samplers/kontakt-5/
The last one is pretty much more than a mockup, it is a full-fledged production
Awesome mockups! Love the first music example. Great.
This is briliant, simply put! Wondering what's wrog with the people who disliked this..
Great examples. I love the progression from mockup to finished piece. Very inspiring.

This looks really great! Will definitely look into using this in future projects
do you guys use Cinesamples products only or a mixture of different products from different sample library developers?
Ali Zafar is an artist, model and singer from Pakistan who also worked in India.
Gr8 examples. Very impressive.
