- In Waterbury, Connecticut you'll find a glowing cross on top of a hill. That structure symbolizes what remains of the religious theme park, Holy Land USA. Developed in 1955 by John Baptist Greco, and was later shut down in 1984, this place has had its fair share of history through out the years. It now remains as an abandoned park for people to explore the once popular tourist destination. And that's what I came to do, walk thru the abandoned Holy Land USA.

Honestly, every time I was coming home from my aunt's house, I would see the LED cross all lit up, and I had no idea a theme park was there. I thought they had stuck it up there just because.
Haha, well now you know
I see the cross everyday, it’s always lit up. I’ve wanted to walk around up there just to see but I’m not allowed to. 😭
I don't know if you missed it or if it's been completely destroyed, but one of the best parts of Holy Land USA in Waterbury were the catacombs. I played up there since I was 5 until age 17. The catacombs were spooky or fun depending on how old you were. Thank you for sharing a bit of history and for the flashback.
You're welcome! Do you remember where the catacombs were located? I don't remember seeing them.
I grew up in Waterbury from 1961 (5-years old) to 1974 and split right after high school. Came back a few times at different ages and even got arrested with my girlfriend at the time (around 1979) when we broke into the catacombs to hang out and party.
@@kuba101 I recall they were to the left down a short grade in the hill shortly after entering through the front gate
I kept thinking everything you showed was much smaller than it actually was lol… great vid!
Haha, thanks Grubs!
A young girl was brutally murdered here.
I read about that, it was horrific
I was there recording my video yesterday
That's awesome dude, hope it turns out great!
@@kuba101 thank u bro
I passed by this several times in the 1970s'. but never noticed it being so built up. Butt Head & Beavis on WPLR in Hamden, CT. jokes about it frequently.
Kuba! Kuba! Kuba!
