    My favorite thing about the Chaparral is the cutting edge length is equal to or very close to the Delica and Para 3, but closed it's barely bigger than a Dragonfly. It's really the best of both worlds.

    • @ting280
      @ting280 2 года назад

      @@bestkoreanjesus I'm holding both right now, s110v Native LW, CF Chaparral. the sharpened edge length is pretty much the same, the Native's is a tiny bit taller. The Native has thicker blade stock and a taller, thicker handle so it makes the knife look a lot bigger. the Chap is deep carry, the Native isn't but you can get a MXG Gear clip. the Native comes in a few different steels and handle materials, the Chaps only come in XHP but they come in different handle materials. I can tell you I don't actually like my Native because it's too thick for me, but I'd probably love the fluted CF s90v version.

    Personally I am a knife collector that also have large (damascus) knives. But for EDCs a small damascus knife is far less intimidating. I have an EDC to open small stuff like envelops/boxes and plastic packages (oh, and no fruit since the damascus is affected by the food acids), not to threaten people. I like the video.

    My lil' native is my usual EDC. 2.5" restriction at work. Definitely appreciate the video. Any 2.5" knife with a 4 finger grip is worth looking into. Kinda wish there more more front / top flippers with choils in this size range. I'd bet you'd get a really usable handle. I like a little rougher handle texture on these small knives... don't want to send it across the room with the reverse flick.

    I like this trend towards small knives that perform like bigger knives but feather light to carry. Takes a lot more thought and engineering.

    Wharncliffe blades were made for cutting rope on a ship's uneven surfaces, on a mast for instance. I find they're kind of oversaturating the market at the moment don't you? I worked on fishing boats and a proper Wharncliffe should have a Marlin Spike for undoing knots. A modified Wharncliffe like the Kershaw Turismo is a much more workable than a straight edge. Especially for small knives. Just my opinion and I'm not always right, but the Good Lord Above knows I am never wrong!
    Bwahahahahaha BWAHAA, COUGH COUGH COUGH AACK!! ack whooo hoo sigh.

      Hey I meant to ask you, not sure if we already touched on the corrosion resistance of dc53, do you think it would be more corrosion resistant than d2 by the looks of things?

    • @MountainFisher
      @MountainFisher 2 года назад

      @@NeevesKnives Let's see, .95% Carbon, it has 8% chromium with 2% Molybdenum and 1% silicon for toughness and silicon restricts Chromium carbides, so it was developed to be tougher than D2 as it also has .3% Vanadium to restrict grain growth something Silicon does as well.
      Now if the Chromium remains in solution and doesn't convert to carbides DC53 should be a little more corrosion resistant than D2 as D2 only has about 6-7% of its Cr in solution, the rest is carbides and in that state provides no rust proofing. While it is a little more stainless than D2 I'd take care of it around water especially saltwater.
      Silicon in steel btw doesn't make Silicon carbide as that would make it brittle, but the toughest steel made that I know of is S5 shock steel with 2% Silicon and 150 ft. lbs. of toughness on the Charpy notch test at HRC 59, drops to 80 lbs. at 60 hardness.
      3V has 7% chromium that stays in solution and a woodcraft youtuber was surprised when I told him that 3V isn't stainless.
