This group of musicians should be very proud. The music they recreate is some of the most difficult. Every person in these comments have nothing but great things to say about these guys. I am probably the greatest fan of this group. and the group before them. I do not consider them a cover band. I consider them the 2nd coming of Genesis. I saw them the first time in Buffalo N.Y. at a little place called the Century Theatre. Long before they were known in the mainstream. I was blown away then, and thanks to these guys I am blown away again 55 years later. Can't wait to see Selling England by The Pound in June of 24.........In a little place called The Riviera Theatre. In Tonawanda N, Y. By the way, still following Genesis and all their solo stuff. They deserve it. Thanks for listening.

I am not into tribute bands but I thought i'd go and see this band since i love genesis and wasn't even born yet when this album came out. So I saw their performance of this show last Thursday in Fredericton. I can tell you they were absolutely mindblowing. Loved it! If I had a chance I'd go again. And again. And again. Those guys are really amazing.

I was around then, had just gone into USAF tech school. I just missed seeing them tour the Lamb. I did get to see the Musical Box a few years ago perform Selling England. That being said, the Lamb never really clicked with me. Maybe it just reminds me of a ‘not so good’ time in my life. Oh well!

I saw Genesis on their Lamb tour in Boston back in 1974, and this is absolutely amazing. They seem to have gotten every detail right. I remember PG with the exact clothing as shown by the vocalist here Michael wore all white.. I remember the
3 screen slide show. They even nailed the part the when slide show displays the image of Jimi Hendrix when Pete sang " I need someone to believe in someone to trust." in the song Chamber of 32 Doors. And most important the music itself as well cant forget to mention that.

    • @AlbumSea
      @AlbumSea 5 лет назад +22

@Emmett Temple I don't think The Musical Box would oppose to being called a copy. And there is nothing wrong with them being a copy, because they are a LIVE BAND. They are a LIVE TRIBUTE BAND that is just trying to give the most accurate and closest performances, so people can still almost experience a Genesis concert in these current days. This Genesis that The Musical Box is presenting died wayyyyy long ago, and they're reviving it. And that's why your "Just listen to the original" comment makes no sense, we cannot go today to a show of the original Genesis, or even watch a full original live recording of an album like this.

    • @RayNDeere

I was too young to see Genesis when they toured the Lamb and by the time I was old enough to see them (16 years old in 1979), PG and Hackett were gone, the albums had suffered, and I didn't want to see Genesis anymore. To this day I have never seen Genesis. I saw Peter Gabriel in 1982 (amazing) and in 1986 (also amazing.) And I was lucky enough to see MB for their Lamb show when they toured it last. I talked to people who had see the original Genesis Lamb tour and they said MB's show was a perfect and immaculate recreation and were both moved and impressed. I know I was.

I'm so grateful this band exists. I'm 50. So by the time I was allowed to go to a concert was 1981. I saw Genesis in Buffalo. But by then, Gabriel and Hackett were gone. As a keyboard player, I loved Duke, Abacab, and Mama. But then I started going back.... To "And then there were three," " A Trick of a tail," and ", Lamb.". Each record going back was better than the next. The point is, I was too young to have seen the Lamb tour, so this is the best thing I've got! Thank you for doing this and keeping this music alive. I am so grateful for the opportunity to hear this live even if it isn't the original band.

Very similar story here as well, Kristeve. (Same age, similar intro to the band in 1981 that resulted in exploring their earlier albums, i also play keys...)
Got to see TMB last year here in Cincinnati, OH and it really blew me away! (I'd only ever seen Genesis proper on the TIOA tour in 2007.) Have got tickets again for their (currently-postponed) show later this year. If you get a chance to see a TMB show i highly recommend it -- you will not regret it!

Anybody who has any doubts or questions about what TMB was able to accomplish with their performances only needs to know what Tony, Mike, Peter, Phil and Steve have had to say about the shows. All of them have been quoted as thoroughly impressed by what TMB does and every member has seen them perform live. Gabriel has even stated he took his children to see a performance so "they could see what Dad used to do."

I'm 32, and Genesis is my favorite band, so when Lamb came out, I had fourteen years before I was even born, but they finally went to Florida in 2012, and I saw them the night before I graduated college. It was a four-hour drive there and back, and I had to be awake at 6 the next day to graduate, but it was worth it!

I saw this show back in 2005 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Singer Denis Gagne sounds remarkably like Peter Gabriel and captures many of the ex-Genesis's front man's mannerisms , although obviously he doesn't have the stage presence ,energy or charisma of Gabriel. In the original Lamb tour ,Gabriel displayed much more energy and anger while performing Back In NYC ,as the song demands. A minor point but nonetheless , well done The Musical Box for brilliantly recreating an unforgettable period in Genesis's history,

I've seen Musical Box twice in Harrisburg, PA. Both times they did "Watcher of the Skies" and "Musical Box". The first tour was "Selling England". When they finished, they asked what they should do for an encore. A lone voice called out "Supper's Ready", much in the way that one would scream "FREEBIRD!" The entire audience exploded in laughter, as did the band.
The next concert was the Lamb tour. They had all 1200 slides for the three-screen back-lit display, courteous of Genesis. Not only did they perform Watcher of the Skies and Musical Box, they ended the concert with Supper's Ready. My three daughters, my wife, and my oldest friend were fortunate enough to be there. My oldest friend's older brother once said he'd give his left nut to see The Lamb performed live, but declined my offer to attend. I presume he still has his left nut, but he missed one HELL of a show.

I saw The Musical Box play SEBTP (there were some Foxtrot goodies like Horizons) last November as an early bday present. SO. WORTH. IT. They started with Watcher of the Skies and ended with Supper's Ready.
These guys are absolutely amazing. They are spot on. And to do all of these songs in a row with spot on interludes from old shows, wow.
As an encore, they played The Knife!
A family started headbanging in the aisle, getting close to the stage, and were quickly ushered out.lol

I saw The Musical Box do this entire show two years apart in San Francisco. They were absolutely amazing! They're the only band fully licensed by Genesis to bring this show to the masses. They do not disappoint!
They even have the original slides from Genesis' tour. They received them from Genesis' archives. Serge becomes Peter Gabriel! Both Phil Collins and Steve Hackett have shown up on stage with them, unfortunately not at the same time.

Was lucky enough to see the real thing at The Academy of Music in NYC Dec ‘74. With The Lamb being released a couple of weeks earlier, the only song I really knew was “The Musical Box” encore, but it didn’t matter because Gabriel’s theatrics and the band were amazing.
These guys do such a good job of recreating that show.
Just caught the Genesis Extravaganza show in Long Island, NY, and what a great evening of great songs.

The Musical Box operates not only with the blessings of Genesis, but with their support as well. TMB's Lamb shows used the original slides, costumes and sets from the 1975 Genesis Lamb tour. Their recreations of the Foxtrot and Selling England tours also use the original Genesis costumes and sets. Since there is no film or video of the Genesis Lamb, I'm thankful for a group like TMB, because of their commitment to being more Genesis than Genesis ever were....

Luckily I could see them in Santiago, Chile in a most unusual and unexpected visit a few years ago. Their sound and visuals + the original slide set from the original LAMB tour is a real thrill, truly close to the original sound. No wonder GENESIS gave them access to the original material of a band that will never ever happen again and that till today is an essential part of the soundtrack I've carried everywhere since I first heard them back in the mid 70s. Could never and will never be able to see that great magician - Peter Gabriel - with Genesis took prog.rock to a higher level back then. The Musical Box creates a nice sensation of going back in time, respectfully, as it has to be. Thanks for uploading.

Was lucky enough to see this concert as a 16 yr old at The Acadamy of Music, NYC, in Dec '74. Since the album had been released just a couple of weeks before, and not having it yet, it was all new to my ears, and probably the rest of the audience as well. On each chair back was the the story of Rael that is the inner jacket of the double album for us to read. Everyone was looking at it a bit puzzled not knowing what we were in store for. I just remember being blown away by the whole experience. It was quite an undertaking for a still relatively unknown band. Unfortunately, Genesis didn't film this concert tour. Thanks to The Musical Box for being so true to the original work and concert. Just saw these guys perform the Foxtrot and SEBTP tours back to back at Westbury, NY. Fantastic!!

Probably fair to say you would have enjoyed it Trying to read and make sense of the liner notes story waiting for the band to come on, then process and absorb two hours of new music was not easy ( I knew The Musical Box, which they performed as an encore). But what made this show so memorable was Peter Gabriel's voice, his stage performance, the costumes, the talent of the band, and the slide show, It was great theater. So there was an tremendous appreciation of what I was witnessing. Also, it created a wonderful visual memory for me as I got into the album, which I did buy the next day. Been listening to it pretty frequently for almost forty years now. Probably has a bit to do with that show. From a musical standpoint, it was great time to be a teenager!

The first time I saw The Musical Box do this entire album in San Francisco, it was flawless (and I DO mean flawless). There were obviously technical bugs with this show you're watching. They had a different keyboardist for that show. The guy who was playing "Tony" the night I saw them was dead-on, and had ALL of the original keyboards, (and he even looked like a Tony clone) - this guy uses modern keyboards and isn't nearly as good as the guy I saw The tempos were all much closer to the studio album and they had a better "Phil," as well. Still, you have to laud this band for putting on this show, night after night as a labor of love. And us fans, of course, eat it up! I wish someone had posted the SF show from the night at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco that I saw.

I've seen the Lamb Show by TMB twice and it was a great feeling. Especially The Waiting Room. Is a great experience when the audience is blinded by the flood light. The live show brings more to the visitor then every video tape can do, sothe publisher did a great work to bring us the feelling of the show by this video works.
