The hanger is a great idea! I keep mine on a long ribbon tied to the side of some metal storing shelves in the pantry. More than a few times, when I've gone to get a ring or two, they've all come sliding off that ribbon & crashing to the floor! 🙄
I tie one ring on the end of a long string, then slide the other rings on that string. The bottom ring stops them from sliding off. Tie a loop at the top and hang my rings off any hook. I hang mine on the back of my pantry door.
