an amazing book ,written by an amazing women ,who another amazing woman wrote a song about ,being sung by another amazing woman ,I’m flabbergasted ,my flabber has never been so gasted .
Excellent! She knows it's a hard song to sing and she approached it rather carefully. I got a kick out of the closing expressions on her face. She gave kind of a "I did OK I guess." She did great!
Been in love with Kate since 1979. Been in love with Aldous since discovering her two weeks ago. Now I've found this, and I really don't need anything else.
I think AH's lower range is beautiful, the problem is that most of Wuthering Heights is right at the top of her range, so to my ear the tone is compromised
Solid performance, and the fact that she took it on is great. I'd bet a lot of people in the crowd didn't even know the song or hadn't heard it in ages. I only learned about Kate Bush recently. The performance sounds a bit echo-y whereas Kate used only a bit of reverb. Aldous is slowing it down a bit and going acoustic with only a piano in a lower key, so she has nothing to help her with those high notes. With a high pitched song like this, it's like they decided to increase the difficulty to "ULTRA HARDCORE" since she can't just stab at those notes with a faster tempo or rely on higher pitched backing music, she has to hit those notes and extend them. The piano being played at a lower key and a couple of bad notes were grating. Aldous can hit high notes, but she's stretching for them with what seems like her chest voice, whereas Kate seemed fairly effortless hitting them with her head voice. Just a difference in Vocal chords and a different way to sing the lyrics. I'm listening to their interviews side by side, and Kate's natural voice is slightly higher, but the tone is a bit different, and you can hear her shift into high notes in her voice really easily, whereas Aldous speaks more at an even tone. Honestly, I think Aldous was just having a bit of fun with this cover, and you can see at the end she's like "oh man, I hope I didn't just butcher that", lol! Nope, it was A-ok!
Interesting -in an earlier comment about a different song by AH I mentioned her music made me feel like I did with early Kate Bush stuff (Lionheart). So there you go 😁
Aldous does a nice job of this great song by Kate Bush. Her mugging diminishes the sincerity, but she is young. Her falsetto is sweet, but limited while Kate's showed glimmers of the deeper and wilder woman within.
Such a talent - piano lacked a bit, even played two wrong chords, come on do better ! When Aldous stops messin about with the melodramtic stuff and acting crazy she will blow the world away.
Are you guys all deaf? This is not how you play Wuthering Heights on a piano. Her voice is pretty good but the piano is terrible. Also rhythm is not steady.
@@blackwingvalleylover I think your mind was overly anticipating Aldous having the exact pitch/belting as Kate’s. i love and admire both the original and Aldous’ version. it is a cover after all
@@pablogates5355 I don't think my mind was doing anything like that. I just don't agree with you. Some songs just can't be reached by other performers. I didn't think this version was very good- out of her vocal range completely. I love Kate Bush but wouldnt expect an imitation of her.

Ouch! My ears! Brave attempt but sounding like a shopping mall distraction. Perhaps the low lighting and alcohol softened the crowd's reaction to this unrelievedly shrill reading. Kate had the chops, but not Aldous.
Rody, couldn't agree more. Has great power and talent I was looking forward to hearing her own version of the song, like Tori Amos cover all messed with and spooky, but she just tried to sing it the same and could not possibly sustain that ridiculously high note she started on.
@@pmbbmp open to praise but not criticism? Why not say to someone who next praises you, “You wouldn’t know nothing about that.” I get that criticism can be annoying and even hurtful. But if you confine yourself to praise what will you ever learn in order to grow and enhance your obvious talents?

I’m sorry to be downer on Aldous, but seriously this is a shocking rendition of Kate Bush. Whilst Aldous Harding has done her own thing, and well at times, I certainly wouldn’t be applauding this performance at all 😫😬

Kate Bush was FAR better.

I can never tell when she's serious. She's the the Andy Kaufman of Alt Folk music. I love her.
Great comparison to Kaufman.
I see Ron Mael in her mischievous glance....
Been following her for a while. Always been a huge Bush fan too. Now this. I'm a happy bunny now. Bounce bounce.

This makes sense. I love KB and I recently found Aldous ❤
Takes guts to take on that song.
Check out the blind girl on the voice who took it on. Raw talent but she def needs guidance. Still an amazing rendition from a very young girl.
Esp in London !
She sings this song like I sing it in the shower and just as bad. Haven't got the drunken crowd screams though.
AH is perfectly oddball for early KB
@@amateurwave3593 The voice is bullshit. All those singers are talentless and don’t reach the soul.

Owns it, as Kate does with covers of others work. Aldous is incredibly brilliant. LOVE.

simply beautiful!
Brave to try this. One of the only people who could come close but she doesn’t have the lower range that Kate was blessed with.
I think AH's lower range is beautiful, the problem is that most of Wuthering Heights is right at the top of her range, so to my ear the tone is compromised
This lady is a gem, I love her music, her style, her wonderful facial expressions and beautiful humility ❤

Aldous gets zero nourishment from applause. I'm so smitten with that.
With this cover I am in awe of Aldous Harding and everything else so far...what a triumph.

But Aldous deserves it very well.
