This is huge, I've got my setup in my garage with storage bins, kids bikes, etc. I've lost all but one ball of the original 3 marked balls that it came with so the fact that I can use tp5's is a game changer!
Real good sign to see they listen to request and actually act on it. I got a Square before Christmas, I love the unit, love the putting and love that we can use the pix balls. I requested these when I 1st heard about the unit. These or the Callaway balls. Thanks for the video!
Great that they are continuing updates, improving, and listening to customers. A very good sign, especially allowing different types of ball. What other company would do that and take away possible revenue from selling balls. Great insight on there behalf realising it will be better for the sales of their unit and for their customers. As a camera unit I wonder if they will ever be able to show a short video of impact like most new camera units.
That would be awesome, I was actually thinking the same thing recently. Even if the current Square hardware isn't capable, could they integrate a webcam or some other peripheral to achieve this. If they could do this at a reasonable price, then it would make it a no brainer in the budget launch monitor ecosystem.
Great news. For me the benefits of the golf ball update is more to do with accessibility of the TaylorMade balls (I get them at the local shop) and being able to use the exact ball on course that i practice with on the sim. The fact that the square balls are close to sim performance as the TaylorMades is just a nice bonus
This is great progress from Square. Been tracking my data on all my clubs with square balls vs other premium balls and even prior to this update has been fairly close.
New updates looks great. Can’t wait to update the unit and test this new update out myself. Love the fact that we aren’t stuck to only the official square golf balls that came with the unit. Gotta buy some pix balls now 😂
@ I think they have their own space honestly. I talked to a lot of people would need / want outdoor use, right/left play, swing video and impact video, etc. Personal preference still has a lot to do with it.
I feel the head moving up not around when hitting cuts. For a draw player driver moves around really nice feel that club getting g above plane to hit some sweeper pull cuts
My body is my enemy right now for getting the club to exit left, can't clear that left hip for the life of me LOL. I am getting back into the groove slowly though and stretching. It think reality has set in where I have to have a daily stretch plan if I want my young flexibility back! :) Thanks for watching
As everyone is saying, This is great. Just wanted to let people know that when you go to do this update, the supplied usb c cable did not work for me. A full data cable is required. The cable supplied is for power only. Also Square Golf told me the integration with Awesome Golf is imminent. That’s great news too!!
Hey there! I haven't seen anyone mention it or in the video but there is a new version for GSPRO connector. In that new version is where you select normal or advanced ball. Just an FYI!
Correct but it has a bug, I think mainly putting but going to test after. I always like showing native software first as many like to see what’s included. Thanks for watching
@@GolfSimulatorVideos Hi, thanks for the video. What was the bug like? Didnt notice it but i had problems with the unit recognising the ball for putting when playing a pitch and putt a few hours ago, Maybe that was it. I know my mat is a bit curved so i thought that was the issue as in putting the ball isnt going up, but maybe not...
This is so good to see that they continue to push our updates quickly. However it’s so frustrating because I have a lemon of a unit that’s never worked and it’s like pulling teeth to get customer service to respond.
bought with your link! thx for the info. gonna give this a shot, this is my first launch monitor and im about a 18 handi so i think a good tool to get started. wouldnt you think?
I think you will be happy. It’s a solid entry level choice for most. Use the marked balls and measured spin like I show here. It’s a great learning tool 👍
Good that they're continuing to update it. I asked them about an OEM protective case about a month ago and they told me "The manufacturers are currently producing a protective case which we are hoping will be available soon to purchase on the website". You have any insight on that?
Do you have to use Square credits when playing courses on 3rd party apps such as GSPro, E6, Awesome Golf? Or are they only used in the native Square software courses? Do you have to use credits when using the Square driving range?
Great video, thanks for the 10% savings. I just got my square setup tonight, coming from an R10 I now realize how forgiving the R10 is… I’m curious why you were not using the club stickers for club data?
Nice. Yes R10 is a nice value unit and performs really well outdoors, but indoors spin axis is it's weakness as it needs to calculate spin axis, I have talked about this since inception and have been very forthcoming. It is a great value overall, but for gear effect and certain shape indoors it can struggle. Thanks for watching!
Have you tried the new firmware update with gspro and tp5 pix balls? I just wonder if it only registers the pix balls using their apps due to only being able to access the settings in the square app.
Jay, I bought the Uneekor from you guys -- great price and unit. What's the deal with Gameday, have you heard anything or expecting a formal release at the PGA show?
Great video! Not sure if I still need my MLM2Pro. I'm holding out on selling it because of club head speed metric and the impact vision. But now with SG advancing at this speed, not sure I want to give Rapsodo $200 a year
Yeah most mlm2pro buyers tell me certain things like outdoor use, swing and club video, etc. Just depends on what your personal preferences. Thanks for watching.
I mentioned in the video I was not using a club sticker, and on purpose. I just wanted to be sure there was no calculation being done based on club data since it was to show the performance specifically bot the Pix Ball Data. I need to verify with Square but I think the new mode might allow for club data and not let it calculate regardless of it misses a ball data point.
They've now got all the stats on the range view, but if you press the mode on the top right of the screen, you get the stats only, including club data graphics.
With that , it might be time to say good bye to my MLM2 pro . Great video . The first I have seen about this update . I only every play GSpro . Direct integration in a few months while the MLM2 2 years later and still does not have it . They dropped the ball on this . I bet the Square has already taken 50 % of the MLM2 market and deservingly so .
For some square can be better, but I do talk to a lot of people who want MLM2Pro for the various things like outdoor radar use on real grass, swing camera and impact video, etc. It just depends on your use and feature needs ya know. Thanks for watching!
What is the optimal distance from the ball to the screen? I have a Rapsodo MLM2pro set at 8.5' and then i set the RLM around 8' behind me. If this is the same I can completely change my set-up (after I sell my Rapsodo)
First it depends on the unit.c but in this case if you have Rapsodo or square then it does not really matter they are measuring in a pretty shorty window. So, from there it’s up to your safety and feel. IMO 10’ is the ideal comfort and immersive distance. 9’ is fine and so is over 10’ but I feel like that’s the sweet spot.
@ thanks for info. I currently run the Rapsodo at 10’. Thinking about a Square just to cut down overall total depth needed and to add putting. Rapsodo renews in April. If I get a Square it will be with your link for your help and great videos.
I only pay attention to carry. Every software will handle the physics differently and when I practice it’s all about the carry because every real course will react differently as well.
Honestly, it’s too totally different units. One being Flightscope that really shines outside and can work well inside but needs a proper set up. Flightscope also provides a lot more data and has swing camera and impact video etc. Square is a low cost indoor unit, it really appeals to a certain market based on what everyone is telling me and why they are buying it.
Awesome, thanks for this video! It seems like a great launch monitor from what I can see. Would you recommend upgrading my old SkyTrak OG to this, or is it not really necessary? I use it with GS Pro, and the integration isn’t very smooth, so I’m guessing this might solve that issue. On another note, if you need some lessons to slice your driver I can definitively help you with that, I'm kind of an expert on the matter.
I have to be honest, the OG Skytrak always performed well for me outside of a few shots here any there not being picked up, putting though was a little hit and miss sometimes and it has the delay. This unit does still have the occasional miss as you can see in this video, but really a great value from my testing so far. But, it does require certain balls vs the skytrak does not. So I think you just have to look at what is important to you and the subscription costs etc. of each.
I just switched from OG SkyTrak to the Square LM using GSPRO. It’s like night and day! No connection issues, no dropped signal , no delay, no misreads and the interface for Square and GSpro is seamless ⛳️
I only use mine outside. I purchased a set of batting cage corners and used EMT piping. Threw some vevor netting on the sides and a shade canopy over the top and removed direct sunlight. I use it all the time. No issues.
This thing is extremely sensitive to sunlight. Like you need zero. Just a heads up. I know it says indoor only. Well they mean it. The balls that came with it were some of the worst I ever felt. So the ball combability will be good. I didn't keep the unit though.
Yes, I’ve been warning people it is meant for indoors. But I do have many viewers using it in the shade on a mat with no issues. I agree the balls are hard but the data has been decent for me. I enjoyed the TP5x more for sure.

@@GolfSimulatorVideos I think it would be informative to also see if this is the case with stickers on. That is if no spin measured from ball with stickers still nothing. Hope it makes sense.

Spike, I’ve told you this before. That’s fine if you’re happy, but my goal in this channel is to educate and in order to get the measured spin and optimal results, you need markings.

@@GolfSimulatorVideos I was able to update the software on my iPad this AM and also updated the firmware - both with my iPad WIFI. I also updated my Windows 11 laptop with just WIFI.
@@tomgee632going to attempt this myself right now. Did it auto update when you connected to the app on the iPad?
Great
Thanks for watching
Looks impressive
Yeah they are improving for sure. Thanks for watching.
Why no club stickers?
I just wanted to make sure it did not fall back on club data for ball calculation, just in case. This video was ball data focused only.
I believe club stickers are for radar units…optical units can see the golf club. I could be wrong, but that’s my understanding.
@ your wrong :)
Do we know if you are going to use sticker dots or continue to use the square balls is it better to select the standard or advanced settings? Thanks!
I think you are better using the advanced where it forces measurement of the ball.
@@GolfSimulatorVideos Is this correct? Does the advance setting actually force measurement while standard will estimate if there is a missread, that's great new if that's the case
@ well, I got a blank vs zero once so I’m assuming and am going to verify 👍
@@GolfSimulatorVideos I think it would be informative to also see if this is the case with stickers on. That is if no spin measured from ball with stickers still nothing. Hope it makes sense.
I understand you can select the ball type in the new GSPro connector. Putting might be broken with the latest connector. I'll test spin accuracy tomorrow.
Yeah they are aware of the GSPRO beta issue and are working on it.
I get great results with regular Callaway chrome softs with out markings are working fine
Spike, I’ve told you this before. That’s fine if you’re happy, but my goal in this channel is to educate and in order to get the measured spin and optimal results, you need markings.
