Marcha "Erika" is a march used by the Chilean Armed Forces, originating in Germany in the late 1930s. The march's lyrics are a love song about a soldier wishing to go to home to see his girl.
I do not represent any of the ideologies, countries, or religions shown on this channel. The purpose of this channel and its content is to historically present the music at hand and does not show support for nor against the party on screen, rather a neutral preservation standpoint so that the music is not lost to time. Not all parties shown on Danjori are widely accepted, however, I merely upload their songs to record history, good or bad.

Chile looks more german than Germany because of a military mission to modernize its military starting in 1886, that is, way before national-socialism. Chile needed modernization and the prussians were the top ones in doctrine and method after the french defeats in 1871. The most interesting thing is that much military tradition was transplanted to a very foreign nation: teaching methods walked side-by-side with the character of the teacher itself.
Chile tuvo influencia prusiana desde 1880-1940, ya que no confundamos al ejército alemán de la ww2 que eran simplemente soldados, con los nazis, que son cosas distintas, ya que el ejército de chile gracias a los alemanes de 1930 en adelante se tuvieron marchas lindas como Erika, lili marleen, Panzerlied,Horst Wessellied entre otras marchas que hicieron al ejército chileno lo que es hoy.

History of this version:
This version of the march was recorded in 1992 by the Instrumental Band of the Military School of Chile, it was published in 1992 on a CD called "Gran Parada", later this CD was remastered and would be published again in 2008.
Is the military school known also as the officer school of Don Bernardo O‘Higgins?

Pinochet's government was not a national socialist democracy. It was a dictatorship. He killed not just Victor Jara and Pablo Neruda, but all the leaders that could challenge his power, like general Prats and ex President Frei. The coup d'etat that deposed Allende was funded by the US State Department. Pinochet's policies were neo liberal, he started the selling of Chilean resources, privatization, the opposite of Nationalism. With the support of the USA, the economy recovered from the disaster that US blockade and bribing of politicians and entrepreneurs produced during the Allende government, which was not Communist, but Socialist, and nationalized our main resource, copper (main reason for the US intervention). Allende could not implement much of his Socialist agenda due to the opposition in Congress. Everything I am saying is public information.

He cleaned up the dangerously rotten Allende pigsty - compared to what happened in Argentina as of 1976-1982 - at 'warp speed' laying the plans to a functioning democracy and. . . stepped down. Argentinian Generals on the other hand were/are corrupted to the core (Videla, Viola, Gualtieri, you name them) taking not only a bumpy ride, but also way too much time to do their 'job'...as imperfectly as they finally delivered it. They wouldn't even take advice from Pinochet (whom they asked as he later told Margret Thatcher) how to handle the deep crisis of their country. - What do Chilean historians of today know/write about the 1970 general elections which are said to have been rigged in order to let Allende come to power ?
